Body getting older

Saturday, May 05, 2012

The doctor says I have had a mini stroke and that means I could have a major one if that blood is not kept thinner. We tried that one time and my eyes did not like the thin blood. My cholesterol is high and I took their pill for that and my muscles did not like that pill. The doctor says I am Bipolar so I take their pills for that and the weight is coming back. I am blessed with a pacemaker and some day the battery will get weak and a new one will be inserted. My body does not like to be cut on and rejects stitches. If I do not exercise the blood pressure will go up higher and I take a pill for that. Lord help those pills to all like each other in my stomach and cells. Body could you just get younger??? emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

It is not fun to get an older body when we feel younger on the inside. Praying for you not to have a stroke. Do what baby steps you and forget the rest. emoticon

Missing my treadmill

Sunday, August 21, 2011

I desperately needed a new treadmill so ordered one, but had to first get rid of my old duct-taped one to make room for the new one. This has resulted in a three days of no treadmill which is putting me in withdrawal. Had no idea how much that time meant to me, or how through the years I had become attached to that old one. I am sure the new one will become my friend with use and time. emoticon

Small Mistakes Means Struggles

Monday, February 09, 2009

I was doing my best to exercise and lose weight, walking that treadmill every day. Because I have osteoporosis I was holding on to that treadmill like it would buck me off. Small mistake! Next thing I know my shoulder and sterum was hurting and being a stupid RN I thought my gall bladder was acting up, so scheduled an ultrasound. Small mistake! We got a sleet and snow storm and I could not get there so rescheduled later in the day and we finally made it. Wasted trip and cost, because my gall bladder was fine. Still hurting like crazy so scheduled for the family doctor and found out it was bursitis of that shoulder from holding on like crazy to that treadmill. That meant three days of physical therapy (50 miles round trip driving), and the driving made the shoulder hurt even worse. Also had to take muscle relaxer's which made me not care if I ate too much, so I gained a couple of pounds, which meant I have to walk more to get rid of that. The moral of this story is doing all things in moderation or you might not like the outcome, and that includes holding on to the bars on the treadmill. emoticon

Great tip. I'm trying more and more to not hold on and it also gives you a more intense workout and gets that heart rate up there. Don't worry about the few pounds. You know what to do that works and keeping at it will give you the results you want. Remember, this is a life journey, not a sprint...there will be ups and downs. They are both learning times to grow from.

Death is very much on my mind today. Yesterday morning our son called to say his mother-in-law had died. In June last year it had been his father-in-law. A couple of months before that they had to put down their house dog of many years because of bone cancer. These people were also a part of our lives for nearly 30 years. Then later in the morning my only brother called to say his mother-in-law had also died. She had been a part of our lives for 50 years. Last August we had to have the vet put down our pet dog of 5 years because of cancer. Two aunts died this year, cousins and very dear friends also died.

The older a person becomes the more grief they have to endure. There is less long-term friendships left and it becomes more important to reach out to younger people around you for a network of friends. As we age we should have lots of wisdom from just plain living to share with the younger generation. emoticon

Please tell Paula we are praying for her and her family. I know you're never ready for this to happen, so all we can do is rely on God when it happens.

Its weird. I've been out of grandparents for a few years, and now my Uncles and Aunts are leaving us. In the meantime, I now have a great nephew. The circle of life. We all do the best we can to make the world a better place while we are here, and do the best to keep our bodies in shape so we can say around as long as we can.

Loose clothes

Tuesday, January 13, 2009

This week-end I started to realize that I had lost enough weight for my clothes to hang loose on my body. What a wonderful feeling after five months of the treadmill, writing down everything I have eaten. In November I joined Sparkpeople and no longer was fighting the battle alone..another good feeling. For so long I had longed for support from outside myself. It took me two months before I became brave enough to start tracking my food (even though I was writing it down in a notebook). It is so much easier to have the calories counted for me! I am half there and never thought I could do it with taking so many drugs that cause weight gain. I am here to tell you that it can be done..it just takes more hard work than the average..It is an uphill battle, but this makes the battle even sweeter at the end. I am proud of myself! emoticon
