I have found that when I make the most of my opportunities each day and live like it is my last day that I have a good time and am happy. I feel I want to walk now more and more and get the most out of this wonderful weather we are having. I want to look good in my swimming suit!

    Very Zen....mindfulness and staying in the present are things I've been working on. It really does make me happier to be in the here and now, enjoying what is, rather than worrying about the past or future. emoticon

baby steps

I want to make small short term goals and also long term goals. I might have the goal of losing five pounds this week. I might want to eat five fruits and vegetables each day. I might want to walk at least five days a week for an hour. I can do half an hour or hour work outs and dance for an hour each day. I can increase my activity level and lose more weight. I want to keep a positive attitude and live each day to the fullest.

    5 pounds in a week might be a bit unrealistic (well 5 pounds of fat loss anyway). The other goals sound doable and will really help with your ultimate goal, if that is being healthy and enjoying life! emoticon

Making my short term goals

I found out it really does help to wear sexy pjs to bed to help you lose weight. I go by affirmations and say I will do this and I will do that. I say like, "I will get down to 200 lbs." or "I will clean the house." or "I will take a shower and exercise." I go by things in my life like seize the day and life is what you make of it.

  I agree! Nothing beats a "just do it" attitude. Every day this week (my first week, by the way) I promised myself that I would exercise at least 15 minutes and track everything I ate, with a goal of 3 pounds lost this first week. Hopped on the scale this am and darned if I didn't lose 5 pounds!!!!!

How I lost five pounds in one day

I was sitting in the doctor's office and I was reading an article about someone who lost alot of weight. In there it said to try and walk 10,000 steps a day. I tried that yesterday and I got on the scale this morning and I lost five pounds. I was so happy. I thought to myself that I was going to continue this goal because it really works. It is great and keeps me moving throughout the day. I am going to continue my mile walks also. I am also eating healthier and controlling my diabetis. I feel healthier when I eat alot of fruits and vegetables. Thank you God for the help and encouragement.

    Talk about instant gratification! I agree, this won't happen daily, and the mechanics of it is probably a big water loss, maybe with eating better you're cutting back on sodium? However you did it, keep up the healthy habits, they're good ones!

I am excited to get started

I am excited to start this first step in changiing my health and well being. This is a step I am taking seriously and I hope to accomplish my goals. I am happy to be on this site and I am looking forward to losing the excess weight.
