Yesterday was perfect for a drive to the lake. We went with my sister and her husband, stopped at a peanut factory on the way to pick up a few things and then stopped at a farm just before getting to the lake. I bought fresh corn, tomatoes, peas, also a mini watermelon, 2 mini cantaloupe which I've never come across before, and a pint of mixed mini tomatoes with different varieties that I've never had. Also bought some fresh field tomatoes for toasted tomato sandwiches.
At the lake we went to our favourite eating place where our favourite waitress works and we asked for her to serve us. She is so cheerful and makes a pleasant meal time even more pleasant. Most of us had fresh fish but our meals varied.
Then on to the pier, how we love to sit there and feed the ducks and seagulls. I wandered around a bit, taking photos of this and that, whatever really appealed to me. And that is almost EVERYTHING! But I noticed I have the spot back on some of my photos! It's a mystery to me, I clean the lens but that fleck shows up in many. When I go to the photo shop this week I'll have my camera looked at.
Many people were swimming, water skiing, boating and many boats were on the lake and coming in and out of the channel. There was also an abundance of people walking the pier and a lady was standing on the pier playing an accordian, entertaining the crowd. A delightful way to spend a day at Port Dover!
When we finally decided to leave, we stopped at a Dairy Bar for ice cream cones. We always ask for their really small ones and they always give us big ones, same price!! They are so good but that kind of undid my eating for the day. The only way I can think about that is . . . "We all had a good time and the cones are something the other three really look forward to, so I'm joining them!" Who knows when these trips will stop, when we'll be unable to take them? And one ice cream cone isn't going to dash my eating plan! THERE, I've soothed my conscience! No point in beating yourself up when you indulge that little bit.
A few pictures that I took. None of me because I'm always behind the camera doing the snapping. But there are some of my sister and her husband and also my husband.

My vase I found at a thrift shop, not an antique but I really liked it. I fiddled around with it until I got it to where I like it (I think), with a soft yellow candle, vanilla scented, and some light stones with soft yellow in them, circling the candle.
That's about it until the next time we venture to the lake. With the warmth of the sun, cool breeze off the lake, enjoyable people to chat with, birds to feed, water to listen to and to watch all the activity on it . . . I love this place!
