I'm so grateful!!!

This morning has started as a day of reflection and thanksgiving. I am a long way from the weight loss I was hoping to see by the end of the year, but I'm less than I was at the beginning of the 2012.

I let discouragement get me off track, but I have the determination to keep going.

Back pain and illness delayed my progress, but it didn't stop me.

Holiday parties and family gatherings offered undeniable temptation, but I'm more aware of the impact of my choices.

I have my health, my strength, my right mind, a beautiful family, and an all powerful, all knowing, awesome God who has loves me so I know that I can meet my goal.

I am blessed!!!

Sparkfriends who've met your goals. Thank you for sharing your stories. You inspire me!

I committed to this journey earlier this year. Though the scale hadn't changed significantly, I was making progress. Then I decided to take it up a bit and commit to going to the gym 6 days a week after work. Finally, results.

This meant cooking the week's meals on the weekend for my family, checking homework a little later, getting everyone to bed, taking care of the house and geting ready for the next day.

Rather than support -- I got complaints about not being home. So I cutback on my gym visits and focused more on my responsibilities.

Guess what-- No progress!!

This week I haven't worked out at all. I feel terrible and I'm starting to regress on the litte progress I've made.

Not any more... I'm investing in me. If I have to buy equipment for home, I'm doing it. If someone has to learn to warm dinner on their own, they are doing it. If mom/wife is missing for an hour each evening, too bad.

It's my time. I'm getting rid of this weight for me.... Committed!

    You go, girl! You can get real bargains on exercise equipment at yard sales and thrift stores.

    Taking care of yourself isn't just good for YOU - it's also good for your FAMILY. It sets a good example to them about taking care of their health, and enables you to be around longer for them to enjoy!

    Yes, it is your time. Congrats on finding what will help you get to your goal. Your schedule sounds like mine and when mom, me, is not tending to their every whim then they start complaining.

Plan ahead and set aside your "me" time for yourself.

  I get up early and work out in the morning at home, before anyone else is awake. That way they can't miss me doing things for them. In this one area of my life, I come first, and the rest of the family has come to accept it. Yours will as well!

    I have an elliptical I use at home, weights and theraband. My family comes first but what ever time is left I work out like cry.

Dear Spark friends, I just want to say THANK YOU!!! Life's challenges have made it a difficult week to stay on track. I've only been able to walk one day and have eaten out way too much. But, taking a few minutes to log on has kept me focused. I appreciate you sharing your successes, challenges and encouragement!

I'm still learning my way around the site so please forgive me if I haven't responded when you sent me a goodie. I just found them. "Duh"

I'm going to make up for some lost time in the gym this weekend. I will do this!

    Yes it is some very encouraging peoples on here. I had a problem with my eating also, but it has finally caught up with my exercising. If i go out to eat it's only once a month. I also have cut back on fried food to one day a week, and no bread. It's hard but we can do it keep pushing. I'm praying we can keep it up. emoticon

    I know the feeling. I am doing so much better with my health and eating habits since I joined Spark in August 2010. The support here is a good way. Just keep checking in everyday and you will be a okay.

Getting Back to It!!!

The past few days have been a blur. Birthday cupcakes, birthday dinner, birthday party food, birthday leftovers. And it wasn't my birthday!!! I let celebrating with my baby boy get me off track.

Now it's time to get back on track. There's nothing I can do about yesterday but learn from it. I've learned that I must plan ahead. I must say "no" to myself. And I must stay focused on my goal. Doing these things will help me through the holidays and any other celebration. I'm doing this. Committed!!

    Glad you had such a wonderful celebration with your little one! Special events like this can make it difficult to stick with the "all things in moderation" philosophy. Good for you for spending some time reflecting on how you can handle future events effectively!

    Birthdays for little ones are precious. Enjoy them guilt free and then make it happen the next day. I believe everything in moderation is okay. The more you hop on Spark and read, you will learn how to enjoy birthdays, holidays and office parties.

    IMO, a piece of birthday cake won't ruin your whole program, but cake every day does accompanied with fatty carby food choices. You can get back on the good foot! Keep on sparking!
