And now for some exercise

Tuesday, December 10, 2013

of the brain this morning. Checking in here and saying good morning. Later this afternoon am going for a walk. I don't know how far I will go but I will be moving the body. Have been having some strange issues with balance and am sure part of it is blood pressure related so now to move and see if that helps.

Hope you all are having a good week so far.

Sorry to hear about your balance issues - I hope that the walking helps! Getting the blood moving does usually help with my blood pressure.

I am. I cant seem to find me groove yet. I have not the motivation it seems. Don't know if its the holidays or what. Usually I struggle with the blues from end of Oct. til the first of the year. I will keep coming in though. I promise.

No groove for me either but I'm also not giving up. I know I need more sun for sure. It is so dark here in late Fall and Winter.

Finding your groove can be one of the hardest challenges we face. I too usually get the blues this time of year, but haven't this year I really think that exercising daily has been the key. Keep pushing ! You can do it! emoticon

Dec. 1st already

Sunday, December 01, 2013

Seems the older I get the faster time gets away from me. This year has flown by and we are already looking at the last year in the rear view mirror. My reflections of this year.... not to much progress on the weight loss front that is okay though. I am back with the Spark and before the new year to come. I don't do resolutions so that works out just fine. Mentally my progress is pretty good. Have learned a few things and that is always good.

Early Morning Bliss

Wednesday, November 27, 2013

Some people say they are not morning people. I used too but over the years with children that had to make it to school somehow I cannot seem to ever sleep in. Plus the added insomnia well you know how that goes. However I have found my bliss when the house is all quiet and it is all mine. I grab some coffee and sit down here and get in Sparktime. A great way to start my day.

That is definitely a nice way to start the day! I am not sure that I am a morning person by nature as much as by habit, but I love that early morning quiet and my first cup of coffee!!

I agree. It's been a long time since I have slept in and I miss it but early Saturday and Sunday mornings with my coffee, a book or sparking, is really very awesome!

Thanksgiving fast Approaching

Tuesday, November 26, 2013

You know the mirror on your vehicle the warning about items being closer than they appear? I believe that my eyes and plate do just that on holidays and my stomach somehow manages to keep up with it. I am not going to worry about it that much as I am just back to this. There will be no beating myself up for I go in knowing that I will overindulge.

As for Thanksgiving itself it sure got here in a hurry. Wanted to just say a bit of what I am thankful for this year. My family both in blood and in heartlines. This includes many of you on here. You are always here for me and that is the best thing in the world. Having jobs that are fairly stable and keep us afloat during these tight time. My two girls, amazing how they came from me. They both have turned out into great women that I am proud of.
I will leave it here for this sounds and feels like the right spot.

GJ! Love you Sis! Glad you are back, wish you would stop giving up, but understand the frustrations! I was stuck in the same spot for almost 3 years, and now I am stuck on the same 5 pounds going up and down on a weekly basis for almost 1 year. I am hoping that Thanksgiving will be the dam buster, tho. Not to gain, but to lose past the 5 pound low wall. I'll be so excited to wake up the day after T-Day and see that I have lost down below that low point of 215. I did it the first year I was on Spark 6 years ago. And I didn't even know how to change my eating habits for T-Day back then. But when I calculated the dressing, the mashed potatoes, the gravy, and all the other stuff I ate, I determined that if I ate 1/4 cup of mashed potatoes, 1/4 cup of dressing, 1/4 cup of gravy, that alone was 30 carbs and that was the dead end of the stick for that meal. Yes, I ate lots of veggies and turkey and no rolls or anything else.

Now I eat a lot differently. I have learned how to make the apple cider gravy of Chef Megs and I seem to know how to lower the carbs on a lot of things, lower the fat and salt and there's nothing worse than a reformed smoker, drinker, drug addict, or weight looser. We're all jerks after we loose. It's like we know the answer and why can't you figure it out like we did? kind of thing. I'm sorry - it's true and I'm there too. Not trying to push you or punish you. I think you can figure out how to change a few things to make it so you can eat moderately and healthy and enjoy your T-Day dinner without having the fatalist attitude of not caring. It only adds to the frustration afterwards. I will challenge you to attempt to have a different attitude of trying to find a way to enjoy it without overeating. Commit yourself to pushing the plate away (in our house it's more like jump up and take the plate to the sink to scrape it and rinse it and stuff it in the washer. I know that idea may sound like impossible, but you can do it if you start right now trying to do it. Find ways to change the sugar, salt, and fat we use in making all the stuff in that traditional T-Day dinner. You can do it! I know you can! emoticon emoticon emoticon
