Dinner with the family

Tuesday, October 28, 2014

all too often I don't feel like I have time to make dinner and we end up at a fast food place. Mostly it is that I don't have a plan, and it requires so much more effort to prepare dinner when you have to dig through the fridge and freezer to figure something out.

I am going to work on meal plans tonight!

Good for you! I also find that planning is key in keeping the family fed and eating together.

Day 11 - ugh swimsuit

Thursday, July 21, 2011

I am headed out of town tomorrow to go on a family float trip. Unfortunately that means I have to wear a swimsuit. I have been putting it off all week, but tonight I was packing and I had to try on all of my old swimsuits to see if there is one that even fits.

The results were not great. Out of 5 suits only two of them even remotely fit. Neither one fit well, but I really don't have extra money to buy a new suit, and I definitely don't want to spend money on something I will only wear once. Because I am never going to be this size again!

It might be too late but I found 2 amazing swimsuits at Macy's for my trip to Vegas last week. One was supposed to make me look 10lbs slimmer....and it did. The second one was a strapless number basic black but patterned on top. I looked fantastic. The down side....well one piece swimsuits are pretty darn hot especially if you arent in the water. I working my way into a bikini.

Day 9 - I love omelets

Tuesday, July 19, 2011

A few weeks ago I bought two cartons of eggs when they were on sale and decided to finally learn how to make an omelet. The few times I had tried before always ended with scrambled eggs. This time I did a little online research and it paid off!

I have been making omelets a few times a weeks since I learned how. It is really great when the kids are not going to be home to eat with us so it is just me an my husband eating dinner and I don't want to make a big meal. I haven't gotten too adventurous yet, mostly cheese omelets, and tonight I sauteed some green peppers and onion, which was delish!

Next week after we are back from our float trip I am going to stock up on different veggies and cheeses to use for omelets.

I love omelets too! I like to add different veggies to switch things up:
roasted poblano peppers are very good

Those green veggies will lots of nutrition. I also like to add grape tomatoes to most omelets--they go great with most green veggies.

"I love eggs from my head down to my legs. The incredible, edible egg."

Oh! These sound so good. I love eggs and cheese. Even a small potato with cooking spray doesn't add to many carbs. emoticon

Day 7 - I want a bike

Sunday, July 17, 2011

I'm thinking about buying a bike. My boys love their bikes, and any time I tell them we are going for a walk they ask "can we ride our bikes." They love going for "walks", and in fact this week as soon as I get home from work they start asking me when it is time to go walk. The only problem is, I can't keep up with them! They go racing off down the hill, although they have to stop and wait for me at every corner.

I tried riding one of the boys bikes, I'm only 5'3" so I thought I might fit, but it was obviously built for a pre/early teen boy. I circled our cul-de-sac and them immediately hopped off.

So then I started looking at bikes online. Wal-Mart carries ladies bike for under $100, so I'm thinking at then end of the month I might be getting one. I don't want to wait too long or I might not get to use it much this year.

Maybe I'll go check them out today.

Try a bike shop if you can to see what size bike you need. That can make a huge difference in riding comfort if the fit is right. Also, what kind of riding surface are you planning on riding on most of the time? There are different tires, styles etc. We just bought a new seat and grips for my husbands bike and it made all the difference for him.

I hope you get your bike soon! One of my mini goals is to be able to ride a bike with my young grandson before it gets too cold this year!! Right now he rides his bike (he's 4) when we go on walks! He regularly asks me, "Momma, are you big enough for a bike yet?" I'm getting there!!!

Have a great week! emoticon

Day 6 - lazy Saturday

Saturday, July 16, 2011

I think I am dehydrated. I woke up with a terrible headache and I'm pretty sure it is the result of my walk last night in this ridiculous heat and humidity. I drank water, but I probably sweat more than I drank.

I have not been interested in eating and even less interested in making something. Thankfully I had some leftover chili that I could reheat, and some carrots that were already cut up and some blueberries that I bought yesterday on sale.

Eventually I'm going to have to make a salad for dinner... or maybe I can convince the hubby to do it for me. emoticon

I agree with Jessesgirl9, if I'm dehydrated in the morning I will drink half a vitaminwater zero. It's no calories and has lots of electrolytes, and I've found usually lower in sugar than gatorade (not sure about powerade).

Hope you feel better, maybe some powerade or gatorade would help. emoticon
