Day 44 - September goals

96 days left/690.93 miles left = 7.19 miles/day

I had to change my goal. It's just not realistic for me to get that many miles in the next 3 days.

As long as the total mileage per day stays at/around/near 7 miles/day for the remaining 890 miles... I'm golden. I'm not going to extend my timeline.

Next month I'll try to hit more on target for getting this done, but aiming so high for the final days isn't realistic. Yes, I finally got a reality check.

So my SEPTEMBER GOALS are:
1. 160 miles
2. Send 4 cards to family members
3. Strength train 1x a week
4. Apply for 4 jobs
5. Exercise with boyfriend 3 times
6. Read one non fiction book
7. Lose 3 pounds
8. Cook one ethnic recipe
9. Post 30% done pictures
10. Finish 5k your way training plan :)

I leave for VACATION tomorrow.

Now... the moment we've all been waiting for (yeah, right.)
I have not super enlage viewed this pictures because I'm at work and don't want everyone to see my half-naked (not half "naked". I'm wearing a sports bra and shorts in the photos) self. So my real reaction might have to wait a while... perhaps I'll type up this post and publish it after lunch when I get a few minutes to not have people looking over my shoulders (possibly).

Day 40 - 20% done and a re-evaluation

I'm taking pictures tonight. And I will post tomorrow. Along with my pictures from before I started (July 1) and at 10% done.

I got into a fight with my boyfriend. And after getting over the anger and really thinking about why we've been at it so much lately, I realize that I'm just not getting enough sleep. And I can't be crabby and tired like this when we go on our road trip. Driving that long with him with us fighting is not going to be any "vacation" that I want to go on.

So I am thinking about extending my timeline. I am at least less worried about making my August goal. I want to make at least 100 miles this month, though, which will add another 52.14 miles to next month. I keep saying that "next month" life will be less hectic, though I don't know that for sure. But I do know that I need to be relaxed and refreshed for my vacation.

And for my relationship.

Once I come back, I'll see what my schedule is like and how many days I'll add.
I have 100 days left to run 709.5 miles. That's 7.095 miles/day.
If I think about it that way - over the long term goal - instead of making the 17.1 miles/day to make my short term August goal, it seems realistic. It seems manageable. Do-able. Achievable.
I still want to be able to say "Done. Finished. Won. Accomplished..." or whatever my mantra was when I came up with this crazy idea.

If you're keeping track, geographically, I'm somewhere near Gary, IN.
(On a divergent, my high school English teacher when to college in Gary. He called it the arm pit of the US.)

I must have had yesterday's report wrong.
Anyway, I'm only half way done with today's work out (3.93 miles). I'll get in at least another 8 on the treadmill tonight at the gym. So it will actually be:
6 days left this month = 13.71 miles/day

No worries here.

I woke up at 4 am this morning... that sucked. But I got in over an hour of walking, and it was great. My natural pace is apparently 3.93 miles/hour - ish.

I saw this as I was leaving for work:



Thought it looked cool/scary.

We're supposed to get some pretty rough storms today... I hope no trees fall on the road. Though, there are many ways to get home, but the back way is so fast and streamlined... but there are so many trees. My car is safe now... but after I get home, there are some trees that could fall. Maybe I'll find somewhere else to park it tonight. Hmmm.

I feel like I'm forcing this post... nothing to write really. Except that I'm making homemade pizza tonight. Yay.

I thought everyone would want to see my super awesome new running sneakers:

My new ones are on the top (white and red), and my old ones are on the bottom (gray and ugly and old). Those were my old pair - there's still the pair inbetween that are still at my bf's place.

Also, here's what those horrible old shoes did to my toe:


Gross. I know. It's feeling better already though, with just three days in my NEW AWESOME shoes. :)

Didn't get as much running/walking in as I wanted to this weekend. Friday, I had to make potato salad for my family reunion on Saturday, and I also had to get my car looked at (I need new rotors and brake pads... someday). I did go to the gym Saturday morning, but I only got in 4.65 miles in on the treadmill. They have this annoying habit of shutting off after 60 minutes. No... let me keep going! So I got off. Lame. Then yesterday, my boyfriend and I walked to go rent a movie. That was nice. We walked really slow, but it was so beautiful outside.

I can tell it's almost fall. It was only 57 degrees when I left for work this morning, and I heard only 41 further up north. I'm completely okay with fall, but I want it to hurry... I always have allergy issues during the seasonal transitions.

I didn't get up this morning to go for a run, but I will the rest of the week. I plan to get at least 3 miles in each morning, and then another 7 in the afternoon, along with my .8 at work. It's going to be hard, but so worth it, when I reach my goal. Also, the 31st of August, I'll already be on vacation, and can probably just go out walking for hours... maybe there's a hiking trail around, that'd be great.
12.94/day does look scary, though. I just need to focusing on the running, not the countdown.
