I only got in 3.8 miles yesterday. After pushing through W2D2 of the 5K training plan (yes! win! beat my last mileage by .07), I started walking to cool down before doing intervals... and was sick. Had to go to the bathroom sick.

So I went home. And hung my head in shame. Ha, just kidding.
But it does suck. Because I keep seeing that avg mile/day pace going up.

FF&V challenge:
M: mushrooms, celery; apple

So far, I'm doing better than yesterday.
I always forget I have one of those neat apple corer things that slices them perfectly. That'll get me to eat more of the apple too. I'm about 1/4 way through my apple this morning, but I'll eat it. I swear. It's a granny smith, so it's a little sour to take too much at once.

I made the most amazing dinner last night and I don't know why I've never thought of it before.
I made ravioli... in tomato soup.

Oh. So good. You must try this if you love tomato soup like I do.
I just put the tomato soup on the stove, waiting for it to bubble a little bit, then put the ravioli in. It took maybe 15 minutes.

The ravioli don't float in tomato soup (or my pot was too small) like they do in water when they're done, so I just squished one between my fingers to see if it was hot and not frozen still.

I have a problem. (Okay more than one. But let's focus on just one right now. haha)

I don't eat fruit and veggies.

Seriously. I don't.

If I get all my salad stuff cut up and in a bowl to bring to work, I get the salad at lunch. But that only happens about every other week. I need to get back to that. I think I might be getting bored with regular salads, though.

And in my meals? Nada. No veggies. No fruit.

Enter a new mini-challenge for myself.
This week (Today 12 Sept - Friday 16 Sept) I want to eat 1 fruit and 2 veggie servings a day.

Yikes. It's not even a whole week (I have Army stuff this weekend, so I don't know how that'll work to get in my ff&v).

M: mushrooms

I have an apple in my fridge, that I'll eat at dinner. I have to stop at the grocery store half & half (I found a new iced coffee recipe @ just search "iced coffee" and you'll find the most glorious looking cup of joe you've ever seen) so I'll scoop up maybe some pea pods or carrots. I also have celery in my fridge... that'll work.

I'll honestly just have to take this one day at a time to make sure I get them in.
I'll try to get raw &/or steamed veggies next week... it's kind of cheating about my mushrooms today. They were in my soup.

And... I'm going to try to put them in my tracker. We'll see. I hate tracking food. Because they it shows all the calories I ate. At least with fitness tracking, it shows how far I've gone. (It really is all mental.)

Oh, if you don't know FF&V stands for fresh fruit and veggies. It's an Army thing, I think.

I'm looking at vegetarian recipes as ways to get in more veggies right now. That'll work to make something new and exciting.

I thought I did W2D1 of the 5k training plan... but I only did 30 minutes. I thought I was supposed to do 6 sets of the Walk 1/Run 4 setting. Fail. I was supposed to do 7. So that'll be tomorrow... blah.

It was tough too.
I hurt my knee/leg on vacation on Sunday. It's all pretty blue. Doesn't hurt when I walk, but when I pick up the pace at all (even 4 mph), it hurts. So I struggled through that run pattern. But I got a good pace, around 12 min/mile. Good deal. But I only got 2.5 miles. I should have known that I needed t o hit a higher mileage than that.

I still don't want to be at work... ahhhh! This place... seriously.
It's still my goal to apply for 4 jobs this month. I just need a computer that doesn't block everything (my laptop took a crap a few weeks ago).

So far, I did read one non-fiction book (that was goal #6).
I forgot that I wanted to strength train 1x/week... so I'm doing that tonight at the gym. Super. Just what I want to do when I get done with 6 miles on a treadmill.

I need to get on a scale, too. I might wait until next Friday. Have a full week+ of exercising again under my belt. I'm worried I gained weight with all that drinking.
I've only averaged 3.9 miles/day that I've ran. I need that up to 7.something.... I'm in a bad mood because I'm at work and my stomach hurts. And my leg. Stupid 4wheeler.

Haha... I just need to relax. I was fine on my way to work this morning. And then I sat down at my desk... and cloudy. :(

According to my calculations (which are frequently wrong), I should hit both 30% and 40% of my total goal this month. 30% next week (15 Sep) and 40% on 29 Sep. Yay, more pictures.

I'll try to get the light better in these ones.

Just wanted to post an update.
I ran just under 2 miles on Thursday while on vacation (that's the 1.97 miles)... nothing since then, but I'm back on the treadmill tonight.

I'm not posting a goal for the month. I just want to get my miles/day for the remaining mileage under 7.5. No sweat :) (I say that every blog posting.. haha).

Doing week 2 of the running 5k training plan this week.

I didn't even realize that I'd be passing the 200 mile mark when I was running last night.

This 5K Your Way training is kicking my butt, though. Damn. I start my workout with that, and at the end of the 36 minutes (and 3.07 miles) last night, I was dead. I didn't want to do anything else. I think the treadmill wears me out more than running outside. When I ran Sunday night, after the 5k training, I was refreshed and happy and kept doing intervals. Last night, though, I was beat. I did about 2 more run intervals, but I just walked the rest and watched the news.
I finished week 1 of the running program:
Day 1: 32 minutes, 2.66 miles (treadmill)
Day 2: 23 minutes, 2.37 miles (outside)
Day 3: 36 minutes, 3.07 miles (treadmill)

I'm averaging about 12 min/mile on the treadmill and about 14 min/mile outside. Hm. I think that I walk faster when I'm outside, but I obviously run faster on the treadmill. I need to work on the outside running more. It's nice to get the mileage done faster on the treadmill, though. Honestly.

I am so ready to be on vacation.
Probably no running or walking today, but I will get some in tomorrow around the city. Yay, vacation. Yay basillicas and national monuments. Yes yes yes.
