About a year ago, had I gone into the cafeteria with the best intentions of just getting cereal with milk, and smelled those pancakes, I would have eaten two huge pancakes drowned in two packets butter and two tubs of regular syrup. These days, I have made a habit of checking the menu before heading down to the cafeteria, and since I saw that there was going to be pancakes, I resolved to have one pancake with margarine and half a tub of light syrup. The only thing that I ate that I did not plan to was half a grapefruit! Also, when I got done with my run (I did 5.11 miles today! Go me!) I really wanted juice, but since I planned out my meals in advance and knew I did not have room in my calorie budget, I got flavored water instead. I realize of course that it might have been better to spend my calories on juice and fruit than the big Potbelly's sandwich that I have planned to indulge in later, but a year ago I would have a) not been running in the first place, and b) both had the juice and the sandwich, and probably the ice cream that looked good today, too. I guess I'm realizing that not every day has to be a perfect day, but making a lot of better bad choices can help me feel not so restricted, and I am learning to look at how far I have come with my eating and exercising habits rather than look at it like I am screwing up.

I am in a much better mood than I was in when I wrote my first post today. In order to motivate myself to go the gym, I told a friend who was nagging me to hang out with him that I had to run. I ended up jogging about 4.14 miles, and my knee doesn't hurt as much as it did before I ran, although it was one of the main reasons I stopped when I did. I also got myself down to 130.3, and I will change my ticker later. It's strange though; Tues after my run I was 131.9, Wed after my run I was 130.9, and today I am 130.3. These last two are numbers I haven't seen in my adult life, I just think its amusing how my weight seems to come off in spurts. I started with about 8 lbs the first 3 weeks, then lost maybe 2 lbs in the next few weeks, then once I discovered the joy of a treadmill and that I could run longer than I thought I could, another 4 lbs melted off in the next couple of weeks, and then my feet and knees were sore because of bad shoes, so I was wavering around 132 for the longest time, but now I have good running shoes, and can run for up to 5 miles in a row, and I have lost another couple of lbs. This makes it somewhat unpredictable as to when I am going to level out, and it is agonizing waiting for the time to come when the weight is coming off, but it is also more satisfying once I lose the weight.

Ok, so as I run further distances, I have to run on the track, because the treadmill has a 30 minute limit, and my allergies and asthma act up outside. Running 5 miles in 46.5 circles (the middle lane of our track is 9.3 laps to the mile) is killing my knee. The thing I don't understand is why is it always my right knee, the track goes both ways. You know, on Sun, Tues, Thurs, and Sat you run one way, and on Mon, Wed, Fri you run the other way. anyway, I really want to run today(I never thought I would start a sentence that way), but I'm afraid I'll let the pain in my knee keep me from it. Anyone have any advice/ things that could be wrong with my form?

Today, I will eat less than 1350 calories. I will run 3 miles in 30 minutes or less. I will finish my paper at a decent time. I will try any way I can think of to find my key. I will copy my music for my audition, and get someone to take a nice picture of me. I will not be discouraged if the scale says a number higher than the one I want to see. I think thats about it.

Yesterday I went to the Farmer's Market because it was the first outdoor market of the 07 season. I bought some fresh cheese curds, and if you've never had them, don't try them, they are so good and very addicting. I ended up eating the whole bag, which was 1200 calories, plus a scone, a pastry that was kinda like pie crust dipped in cinnamon and sugar, a small light smoothie from Jamba juice, and I bought jam for the bread that I made later, and I ate quite a bit of that, both the jam and the bread, plus I had some of my leftover beef stroganoff. It ended up being well over 2000 calories, and if I had just stuck with munching on the samples that they have there, I would have stayed within my calorie limit. Today, I am staying on the 1200 edge of my calorie limit, I got up several hours early so that I could eat enough time before running to not get a stomach cramp, I am going to run at least 3 miles today, plus I am going to do some other form of exercise as well. I also am going to meet with a friend to work on a paper that is due on Tuesday, and I am going to get quite a bit of work done on that. I am in the process of doing laundry, and I changed my strength training days to Sun, Tues, Thurs, so that it doesn't conflict with Mon, Wed, Fri yoga. I took a step back yesterday, and I have been slipping for some time, so I just need to step on the scale, assess the damage, make a plan to fix the damage, and then I will be okay.
