Hey everyone. This morning I did the Beg For Mercy Bodyrock workout... here is the link.
I changed a few things, some intentional and some not so. I wouldn't say it was my best workout ever. Ha. I'm not going to bother posting my scores but I will say it's kind of ridiculous how much stronger the left side of my body is compared to the right side. I thought it was just my left arm being stronger than my right, but my left leg is much stronger than my right leg. Gotta even that out somehow.
So. Here's the plan for January. I have picked about a dozen Bodyrocks I have never done before from the handy-dandy reference list I shared with you about a week ago.
I never follow their schedule. If I did I'm afraid I would barely ever work out, sheesh.
These are the ones I have picked:
1. Major Hot Abs
2. Beg For Mercy
3. Whoop Ass
4. Harder than Ever
5. Triple X
6. 15 Minutes of Pure Torture (okay, I've done this one a lot but I really, really love it)
7. Sexy Hot Cool
8. Kiss My Tight Ass
9. Hot to Trot
10. Fat Ass Burn Off
11. Hotel Room
12. Side Lunge Jump Challenge
I am going to do these 12 workouts, in order (but not necessarily in 12 straight days). Then I am going to repeat them, in order, and try to beat my numbers from the first time I did them. I may beat them and I may not, but trying will guarantee I put forth the highest intensity I can.
That gives me 24 days of Bodyrocks in January and 7 days of no Bodyrock. On each those 7 off days I will either do cardio or rest.
I've already done the first two workouts and plan to do the 3rd tomorrow.
As far as food goes, I'm taking that day by day. I'll just try to track every day. What else can I do? Food is so hard for me. Working out is definitely the easy part. I love it so much. But it's true what they say, that it's 80% diet. Exercise you only have to think about a small part of your day. Food you have to think about ALL THE TIME. It's hard work. But I'll be going back to work tomorrow, which will help with tracking.
And, just in case you missed it......! LOL

Happy first day of 2012, everyone! I hope you are all feeling good and not hungover and icky from last night. We didn't do anything... I never do, for New Year's. We don't have many friends in the area and besides, I don't drink. I don't like anything about alcohol, really. I don't like the taste, I don't like feeling
drunk and overall there are just many more things to do that are much more fun to me. I have nothing against people who enjoy alcoholic beverages but it's just not something I like to do. The last time I had a drink was Memorial Day. Before that... May 2009 for my 23rd birthday and before that, May 2007 for my 21st. Well, it appears my average is once every two years, eh? I read some blogs and whatnot about people who are trying to cut back on drinking to save calories and I often think... how nice would it be if we could trade our vices and strengths with those who have others? For example, if you want to cut back on alcohol, I give you my lack of interest in it, and you give me your lack of interest in chocolate. Win-win :) So if you could trade with someone, what would you trade for what?
Today I did the Major Hot Abs workout.
Okay, well... at least, a workout loosely based on it... I changed some stuff.
Side-to-Side Jump Rope
Dive Bomber Burpee (from knees)
Side-to-Side Jump Rope
Single leg lift and toe touch
Plus ONE modified burpee for January ONE.
I felt very tired today. I guess it's a combination of sleeping too late and Flo being in town. So I don't feel like I really killed it as hard as I could have. But it's okay to have an easier day today because tomorrow's workout is going to be BRUTAL, you hear? BRUTAL. I am excited for it already
We were supposed to celebrate the New Year last night by going to see Sherlock Holmes and going to our favorite Indian restaurant for the New Year's buffet, but, so sad, there were no more reservations available. Apparently there were belly dancers and Matt was disappointed because he "wanted to see some bellies." So I showed him my belly and he was happy We stayed in and played the Star Trek Scene It game I got him for Christmas. It was so much fun and I kicked his butt 2 out of 3 games. Point for the nerdgirl team!!!
So tonight we are making up for it by going to the movies and out for Indian food. My goal is to only eat half my dinner. That will be a win-win because not only do I save calories tonight, I get a delicious lunch tomorrow.
(I'm going to start signing my blogs in 2012 because, for reasons I can't quite explain... I really like everyone to know my real name.)

133 days since I started Bodyrocking.
I have worked out 100 days total since.
Not too bad for only about 4 months, but I'm gonna raise that considerably in 2012
Fat Terminator Workout
I was confused by the intervals, so I set my GymBoss for 10/30s x 30 rounds for a nice even 20 minute workout.
I had a little headache this morning and guess who showed up? You bet. Flo. I felt fine until just about 20 minutes before I went to work out so it was a total surprise. Yep- you heard it here- FLO HATES EXERCISE and when you do it, she stays quiet!
My tummy started to ache during my workout but I pushed through and did the very best I could, which wasn't too bad, all thing considered. This is another great bodyweight workout, so if you don't have equipment, get to it!
Low Jacks: 27/27/25
Dynamic pushup (on toes, hands on park bench, which is why numbers are low): 6/6/5
Jump Squats: 16/14/13
Half Burpees: 13/14/15
Side Jump Lunge Right Leg: 8/7/8
Side Jump Lunge Left Leg: 11/10/11
Alternating Step Ups (on park bench): 14/13/13
Dancing Crab: 15/16/17
Butt Lift and Toe Touch: 7/11/10
Jump Rope: 80/81/86
A few notes- I switched out the twist jump for regular jump rope. Also, I'm very excited to talk about the dancing crab. I remember the second Bodyrock I ever did, I tried to do the dancing crab and I couldn't do it properly, I had to modify it to just lift my legs and not my arms. I couldn't keep my balance because I wasn't strong enough. I did NOT modify it today!!!! Actually come to think of it... I didn't really modify anything.
I found a cute picture of myself on my phone. I love taking silly pictures. Any picture in which I look like a normal, sane person is such a disappointment to me.

I keep picking bodyweight Bodyrocks. I'm not sure why. I'm home now. I have my little ghetto sandbag and my squat bucket and my blue weighted ball named Boris... anyway, this is the Bodyrock I did today.
Side Jump Lunges
Reptile Pushups (from knees)
Leg lifts (from mat- no equipment required!)
Then I went to the gym and canceled my membership and preached the glory of Bodyrock to anyone who would listen. The lady who helped me said she was going to tell her daughter, who exercises in her dorm room. Yay!
It feels good to be eating healthy again. I haven't been tracking, but one thing at a time. Last night I made my amazing beef barley soup. I'm serious folks, if you haven't made this, you have to. It is sooooooooooooo delicious. I wrote a blog about it a few weeks ago, so I'm gonna give you the recipe again and this time I have a picture!!!!
Beef Barley Soup
16 oz lean beef round, cut into small chunks
3/4 cup pearl barley
8 cups beef broth
Baby carrots (a small bag?)
Dried onion (maybe 1/4 cup?)
Heaping 1/2 tsp. fennel seed
A generous spoonful of minced garlic
1 can diced tomatoes, drained
2 lbs mushrooms
1 or 2 bag baby spinach
Put the beef, barley, and broth into a pot and bring to a boil. Skim off foam.
Add carrots, dried onion, fennel seed, pepper, garlic, and tomatoes. Reduce heat and simmer about 45 minutes.
Add mushrooms, simmer another 15 minutes.
Take off heat and stir in spinach.
OMG YES NOM.
Then today, I fixed this for my lunch:
BBQ Shrimp Pizza
Mini pizza crust, BBQ sauce, salad shrimps, shredded cheese and pineapple... adjust amounts to your caloric preferences.
And just because I'm in my photos...
I made this bed for my kittehs using an old wicker laundry basket I found at the Goodwill for $2 and the horrifically staticky Snuggie my mom gave me a few years ago.
My cats are funny. They'll sleep in/on absolutely anything. Cardboard boxes... expensive beds... cheap beds... homemade beds... my suitcase... each other... it's funny really. I get a kick out of giving them new beds because no matter what it is, they'll be in it. Guaranteed.
This is my grandma at her birthday party. I caught her in the middle of her birthday wish.
