Fat Terminator Workout

Saturday, December 31, 2011

133 days since I started Bodyrocking.

I have worked out 100 days total since.

100/133= 75%

Not too bad for only about 4 months, but I'm gonna raise that considerably in 2012 emoticon

Fat Terminator Workout

I was confused by the intervals, so I set my GymBoss for 10/30s x 30 rounds for a nice even 20 minute workout.

I had a little headache this morning and guess who showed up? You bet. Flo. I felt fine until just about 20 minutes before I went to work out so it was a total surprise. Yep- you heard it here- FLO HATES EXERCISE and when you do it, she stays quiet!

My tummy started to ache during my workout but I pushed through and did the very best I could, which wasn't too bad, all thing considered. This is another great bodyweight workout, so if you don't have equipment, get to it!

Low Jacks: 27/27/25

Dynamic pushup (on toes, hands on park bench, which is why numbers are low): 6/6/5

Jump Squats: 16/14/13

Half Burpees: 13/14/15

Side Jump Lunge Right Leg: 8/7/8

Side Jump Lunge Left Leg: 11/10/11

Alternating Step Ups (on park bench): 14/13/13

Dancing Crab: 15/16/17

Butt Lift and Toe Touch: 7/11/10

Jump Rope: 80/81/86

A few notes- I switched out the twist jump for regular jump rope. Also, I'm very excited to talk about the dancing crab. I remember the second Bodyrock I ever did, I tried to do the dancing crab and I couldn't do it properly, I had to modify it to just lift my legs and not my arms. I couldn't keep my balance because I wasn't strong enough. I did NOT modify it today!!!! Actually come to think of it... I didn't really modify anything.

I found a cute picture of myself on my phone. I love taking silly pictures. Any picture in which I look like a normal, sane person is such a disappointment to me.

15 Minute Hot Body and some Foodstuffs

Friday, December 30, 2011

I keep picking bodyweight Bodyrocks. I'm not sure why. I'm home now. I have my little ghetto sandbag and my squat bucket and my blue weighted ball named Boris... anyway, this is the Bodyrock I did today.

Side Jump Lunges

Reptile Pushups (from knees)

Prisoner Half-Squats

Leg lifts (from mat- no equipment required!)

Then I went to the gym and canceled my membership emoticon and preached the glory of Bodyrock to anyone who would listen. The lady who helped me said she was going to tell her daughter, who exercises in her dorm room. Yay!

It feels good to be eating healthy again. I haven't been tracking, but one thing at a time. Last night I made my amazing beef barley soup. I'm serious folks, if you haven't made this, you have to. It is sooooooooooooo delicious. I wrote a blog about it a few weeks ago, so I'm gonna give you the recipe again and this time I have a picture!!!!

Beef Barley Soup

16 oz lean beef round, cut into small chunks
3/4 cup pearl barley
8 cups beef broth
Baby carrots (a small bag?)
Dried onion (maybe 1/4 cup?)
Heaping 1/2 tsp. fennel seed
Black pepper
A generous spoonful of minced garlic
1 can diced tomatoes, drained
2 lbs mushrooms
1 or 2 bag baby spinach

Put the beef, barley, and broth into a pot and bring to a boil. Skim off foam.
Add carrots, dried onion, fennel seed, pepper, garlic, and tomatoes. Reduce heat and simmer about 45 minutes.
Add mushrooms, simmer another 15 minutes.
Take off heat and stir in spinach.

Then today, I fixed this for my lunch:

BBQ Shrimp Pizza

Mini pizza crust, BBQ sauce, salad shrimps, shredded cheese and pineapple... adjust amounts to your caloric preferences.

And just because I'm in my photos...

I made this bed for my kittehs using an old wicker laundry basket I found at the Goodwill for $2 and the horrifically staticky Snuggie my mom gave me a few years ago.

My cats are funny. They'll sleep in/on absolutely anything. Cardboard boxes... expensive beds... cheap beds... homemade beds... my suitcase... each other... it's funny really. I get a kick out of giving them new beds because no matter what it is, they'll be in it. Guaranteed.

This is my grandma at her birthday party. I caught her in the middle of her birthday wish. emoticon

At least your cats didn't sleep at clean clothes - mine, while we drying out the laundry, there times when they somehow drag the clothes down and settle in for a nice, regal setup, haha.

Excellent, you spread out BodyRock to another via another person!

Wonder what your grandma's wishes :D

Your grandma looks wonderful and happy! The soup looks yummy. I will have to make it. I had 2 cats years ago and they were so much fun and they did sleep anywhere (across my head even) Unfortunately my hubby is allergic. So I say...who needs a hubby anyway when cats are so much fun! Ha Ha
I tried Bodyrock for the first time today. It was hard and I only used my own bodyweight and did the beginner versions. My lungs were burning and so were my legs. It was awesome! Thanks for motivating me to try it.

I think I might have a slight case of dyslexia. I always comment on the last thing you write about FIRST. Lol.

Max won't sleep in anything, but he loves a good fleece blanket, carboard boxes, and CLEAN laundry.

That soup looks delicious!!! Minus the mushrooms. : / Not a big fan of those.

Bodyrock Butt Buster. OMG killer.

Thursday, December 29, 2011

I think I like Bodyrock so much because I've always figured, if you're gonna put in the time to work out and change your body, why not give it everything you have?

Well... the workout I picked today really delivered.

This is definitely the hardest Bodyrock I can remember doing in a long, long time. And you don't need any equipment for it either, other than your handy-dandy GymBoss which I cannot live without.

Man, I thought I was gonna faint, puke, and die, possibly in that order, possibly not. I was feeling good this morning, and I thought, heck, I'll tack another round onto that 3. Um. Hellz no. Halfway through the first round, I was already gasping and sweating and wondering if I'd live to blog about it.

Elevated Leg Lunge Jump- These were... quite something. I really want to get better at stuff like this which is why I picked this workout. Talk about a burn, baby burn. I didn't modify it. I'm sure my numbers would have been higher if I had, but like I said, I want to get better at these sorts of exercises.
Right leg: 10-6-6
Left leg: 11-9-7

Elbow Plank Side Hops- apparently really kicked it into gear the last round and kept a steadier pace. If you try this workout, don't pause after each hop, keep it moving.

Exploding Star- YIKES. I had to modify this a little because I can't jump up from all the way on the ground like Z does. I tried to get my thighs parallel to the ground, at least.

Ab Buster

I wore my new Dri-Fit Nike pants (in TALL!!!!!!!!!!!) for this workout and it was awesome. So excited to have PANTS. I only had 2 pairs of workout PANTS until now in Tall, both of which I bought in 2006 from Fit Couture. I highly recommend them. They were expensive for sure, but I've worn and washed those things hundreds and hundreds of times and they still look and feel brand new. It's great to have another pair of pants. I have lots of capris but I like pants the best.

Lastly I want to introduce you to the newest member of my Giant Microbes collection. For Christmas, my friend gave me chlamydia!

I saw the workout in the website, looks a bit daunting but that's the best thing - challenges makes workouts more fun!

For me, anything like jumping and sprinting, it's better to continuously do them till the time's up, even when I feel like I want to cry to stop. If I stop in the middle, feel so hard to get back, haha.

Those Giant Microbes are so cute ... but what are they?

Sounds like an awesome workout! I remember the NO-HANDS workout... Lol. I liked that one. I need to do it again soon. : ) You're a rockstar as always!

Enjoy the Burn

Wednesday, December 28, 2011

I wanted to blog about the workout I did yesterday, a Bodyrock called Feel the Burn. This is great if you're at home and have no equipment, like me emoticon It consists of 12 rounds of 10 and 50 second intervals.

I changed the pushups in the workout to slider pushups, which is just like a regular pushup except you slide your weight to one particular side instead of straight down. I like them because they work your arms individually and are not as challenging (read: impossible at this current time) as one-armed pushups.

Slider Pushup- Right Side
Half Burpee
Slider Pushup-Left Side
Jump Lunges

My arms are pleasantly sore today from those slider pushups. And my legs are from the jump lunges. The one thing I really want to say about jump lunges is that when I first started Bodyrocking, I could not even do one. Seriously. I could get into the lunge position but I didn't have enough strength to power up and switch legs even once. I'm not great at them now, but as you can see, I can do some. And now that I can do them and practice them, the numbers are just going to go up and up and up! emoticon

Dunno why but slider pushups sounds sexy, haha. Can't wait to try this one, I love anything with lunges and squats and Burpee in a newbie in my love-to-do-exercise list, too :D

I'm currently "collecting data" for BodyRock workout 2011, categorized them so that I know which one can I pick for body weight only or with equipments - sometimes just too lazy to use equipments, especially when I don't have the equipments!

KEEPUPWITHMYDOG 12/28/2011 12:10PM

Awesome! So inspiring! Just think if when you could not even perform one jump lunge you would have quit. That would have been a shame. Look how far you have come and you will continue to get better and better! Good for you! emoticon

Interesting stuff - didn't know about slider pushups. They don't have marshmallow beginner stuff for BodyRock do they? Because I'm pretty sure I have reverted to marshmallow at this point :)

Report Inappropriate Comment

I need to try me some slider push ups! I'm pretty sure I did them in a workout a long time ago, but wasn't very good at them and don't think I've attempted them since! What do you think of one armed press ups? Those are more of a tricep worker though, I guess...

Anyway, great job with those jump lunges! Talk about a move that really gets my goat! I was The exact same way with them when I started bodyrocking. I could probably do about 5 and was totally wiped. Then, a month or two later, I did a bodyrock workout where there was a time challenge doing like 6 push ups and 12 jump lunges and that was one round and you were supposed to do as many as you could in X amount of minutes. I was SHOCKED that I could power through all 12 jump lunges without taking a break! Granted it made my legs BURN but doing the push ups right afterwards took a break on my legs so I was rearin and ready to go by the next round! WHEW! I need to try that challenge again! hahaha

Great job Chrissy! You're a TRUE Bodyrocker, girl! =] Gotta get yourself a shirt or something! ;-)
