Progress Day

Wednesday, August 11, 2010

So I decided not to do progress day until today...mainly because this past weekend was HORRIBLE for food. I knew that the scale would be up, if anything from water retention from all the sodium I consumed...So I gave myself a few days of clean eating, working out and lots of water to try to get rid of most of it to see my true progress.

Sure enough it worked. I'm down 2 more pounds and my body fat dropped another .3%. Still on track, even after a few bad days! Blood pressure was good too and my heart rate was lower. Can't complain!

Progress Day

Monday, August 02, 2010

Every monday is my progress day. I check my blood pressure, body fat percentage and hop on the scales. I like monday, because then I have to be really aware of what I'm eating and how much I move over the weekend, because I know the progress day is looming near.

Today was a great progress day. My body is down .3% I lost another 1.5 pounds. And my blood pressure was 101/61. My heart rate was 71. So overall a good week! I didn't exercise as much as I had hoped last week though, because of the period issues, but this is a new week and I won't fret over it! Just gotta keep pushing on.

So far I've done my Curves workout and fire 30. So thats 60 minutes down! Lots of walking of course...usually about 10 miles just in this building alone. And eventually at some point this evening I will do the weighted hula hoop just to get some extra heart minutes in there. :)

Happy Monday everyone!!!!

I like the idea of a progress day. I am going to have to incorporate that into my weekly schedule so I can keep myself in check. I also like that you made it on Monday because the weekend is also toughest for me. Thank you for sharing!

The scale...throw it out!

Sunday, August 01, 2010

It really bothers me how obsessed some people are over the scale. I know we all want that perfect number to appear...but it just doesn't matter to me anymore. I wish at work I could get through some people's heads! Grrr!

Another thing that really irritates me is when they weigh in and the scale has either remained the same or gone up...and they say something like...well see what happens...i work out and I gain. Geez! Then I start asking them questions about their diet and they just say "i eat fine". BS!!! It's almost always the food you put in your body that is the issue. You can't just workout and expect fat to slide off of you. What about fueling your body properly? Not just trying to lose weight? What about giving your body an amazing amount of nutrients so that you have more energy and your body can fight off sickness and disease? Come on...

Measure your progress without the scale. Use your body fat percentage. Try to get your waist circumference to half of your height in inches. Check your energy levels. Do you feel stronger? Are you more confident? All these things mean PROGRESS!!!

I rely on the scale because it is easy and fast. Reading your blog made me realize that I have been lazy and that I really need to bust out that tape measure and see where the inches have come and gone. That should be my real indicator. My clothes fit so much better but how do I measure that? I can't! I think tonight is the night I get all those measurements into Sparkpeople so I can really see how I progress through this journey.

Thanks again for the motivation!

What you both need to understand is...I was obsessed with the scales. I've been there, done that. For 14 months I was super strict. Obsessed over every tiny little thing that went into my mouth. Weighed myself 20 times a day. I know what it feels like to hop on the scales and be SUPER disappointed. I work at a gym...and I'm not complaining about people who use the scale as motivation. But few people actually do that. I'm just saying....focus on other things too. Use your new found energy....your higher confidence....your smaller clothes....your lower body fat percentage as a good judge of how you're progressing. Be thrilled about the changes your making with your habits and how you're fueling your body with healthy foods so you can live a long and healthy life. Does that make sense?!?

I use the measuring tape as a guide to reaching my goals.

I hate to hear about this. It is bothersome and it's sad, but really, where is the help for the people who really are trying and seeing nothing? What about them? Or maybe there's no such thing. Maybe I'm crazy.

Blah...not feeling well....

Wednesday, July 28, 2010

Not feeling well at all today. Kinda bummed out about it, because I just started my exercise rotation and don't want to get off track so early into it. No work outs today though. Pretty much everything from my belly button down hurts. Stupid period....my butt is sore from the Bum Bum workout yesterday. I'm not complaining about that though...I love muscle soreness. That means its workin! But I'm sick of dealing with the girly issues. :| Anyways...my plan for today was curves and HIIT 30. So my plan to make up for it....thats 60 minutes of workout time missed...so....sometime the rest of this week I gotta get that in. Maybe HIIT tomorrow or over the weekend and some Wii sometime too?

I'll be glad when I'm off work at 7. Then I can go home and see if we have high speed internet....no more dial up?!?!? I won't know what to do. Then I can relax and rest...and hope that will make me feel good tomorrow.

Bum Bum kicked my Bum Bum!

Tuesday, July 27, 2010

So first day of trying my newest set of workout videos. Brazil Butt Lift....I must say it's a lot harder then I expected. I thought this would be a pretty easy workout to get just get my heart rate up and add some new cardio into the mix. OMGGGG!! My butt and thighs are super tight. I totally felt it!!! Love it. I'm not complaining at all. I love a challenge. I love to be surprised.

Glad I decided to only do this program one day a week. Don't think I could handle much more. LoL....

In eating news....I tried Almond Butter. Yummy. I'm a fan. I bought the natural kind too, of course. 4 whopping ingredients. It doesn't get more natural then that. Well....today is only half down. Got my curves workout in....and did Bum Bum. Gotta work til 7. Gonna try to walk around the circuit as much as possible to get in those steps!!

Keep moving everyone!!!
