Gettin' Better

Sunday, May 04, 2008

Finally today I hardly have any pain in back. I'm thrilled. :) It's stick akward to walk, because my back seems to be fixated in one spot. But I'm slowly but surely getting better. I can't wait to be 100%, so I can work out. Ugh...driving me nuts. I know I've gained a few pounds back, but I'm trying to not let it bother me. Figures I finally reach my goal weight and something like this happens though.

But anyways....gotta be optimistic, right?

My eating definitley hasn't been 100%. That's for sure. So I'm back to counting calories. I added everything up I plan to eat tomorrow. I made stuffed peppers for dinner for tomorrow and another day later in the week. It's a recipe from Ellie Krieger. I switched things up though. Instead of using lean beef, I used boca meatless burger, and instead of bulghur (because I couldn't find it anywhere) I used couscous. The calories came out less though, so I'm not complaining. Hopefully they taste good though. :) They smelled really yummy. So yeah...I'm going back to counting for the next few weeks. I gotta get back on track with everything!!!

I go for 4 adjustments at the chiropractor this week. :) Looking forward to going back, because it really seems to be helping. I also get a free massage. I've never had one before, so that will be a nice treat.

Mother's Day is coming up too. My sis is going to go pick up some azalea bushes for my mom. She asked for those about a month ago. But I doubt she remembers, so she won't be expecting them. I plan to look for an incense burner too, because she said she'd really like to have one. And I'll probably get her some truffles like always. Then I have to find something to get my Nanny as well. My sis and I plan to take both of them to dinner on Sunday. So that will be nice for them. :) A girl's day out. That hasn't happened in quite awhile.

Anyways...just trying to get caught up with everything. I'm SO behind. Life has been pretty nuts the past 2 weeks. And I really want things to get back to the norm. Me exercising regularly, enjoying my job, being pain free, and just overall being in a decent mood. It makes life tough when you're in constant severe pain & find it hard to walk. Especially when you exercise for a living. Ya know?

I did get a pedometer though. Finally one that works well. So I'll be wearing that for the next few weeks to see how many steps I can get in. :) I'm sure it will be a lot since I walk ALL day long. Lookin forward to seeing those numbers.

I'm trying to find the Spark People bootcamp, but can't seem to find it. Anyone know the link?

    Glad you're feeling better.

Here's some info, in case you didn't know: the bulghur (when 'made up') will look and taste like the dish it is in, so it 'extends' ground beef (or turkey, etc.). I can only find mine at the Health Food store. The couscous are a grain, so they kind of function like rice might, in a stuffed pepper.

Hope your variation tastes good - do let us know. It's always nice to have choices!

I was just catching up on your blogs, have kind of been out of the loop for a while and WOW!!! I'm realllly glad the pain is getting better with the chiropractor's help. I know it's frustrating being out of commission from excercising. *HUGS*

Adjustments..Apologies..A new book..The weekend

Thursday, May 01, 2008 was my 5th adjustment from the chiropractor. I'm happy to say at this moment I hardly have any pain....It comes and goes though. He said it would...but he also said that I should be totally pain free within 2 weeks. So please keep your fingers crossed! I'll be visiting the chiropractor over the next 12 months. My spine has a major curve to the right side...and it needs to be worked on. It's definitly going to hurt my wallet...but I'm hoping once this gets straightened out (literally) I can begin teaching turbo kick and earn some extra income & then I'll be fine. It's just going to be a tight couple of weeks. But anyways....I'll be fine. :) I'm definitley in better spirits today.

I do want to apologize for not responding to comments people have left me lately. I'm way behind, but I do plan to go back through the last 10 pages and respond to everyone. Hopefully this weekend I will have time. I don't like to ignore people, I've just been going through a lot. :)

So anyways......I'm hoping to get back on track soon. My eating definitley hasn't been 100% and I haven't exercised in over a week. This of course is driving me mad. But...I have MUST get better. That's more important. I just won't be weighing myself. LoL. Can't get hurt if you don't know, right?

I have been reading a new book though. Super interesing. The Real Vitamin & Mineral Book. It's really amazing learning what vitamins do for your body. I'll share the info I learn for sure!

This weekend we're setting up a booth at Walmart for Curves. We're doing a fitness study, so we'll be trying to get new people to join. So I'll be chillin at Walmart for 5 hours. Fun Fun....

Okay.....I've rambled enough. See ya!

My back

Friday, April 25, 2008

Well...yesterday I got off work early and went to the chiropractor. I was soooo leary because I've never been to one before. I've heard so many good stories and sooo many bad stories too. I was terrifed he would make me worse off then when I went in.
Anyways...I try to be optimistic. So I went in and I really think he knows what he's doing! It's a really advanced facility. He took a full nerve scan of my back...showed me where my nerves weren't working properly, explained my muscles and spine. They also took x-rays. He found that I definitley have a degenerative disc, which was probably from before when I was heavy. I had severe back pain when I was overweight. It just kind of went away once I lost weight. He also said 1 or 2 of my vertebrae is out of alignment. But he really thinks he can help. So he told me to ice it 3-5 times each day, get lots of rest, sleep with a pillow between my legs. He also recommended that I stop taking the vicodin and prednisone, because it doesn't seem to be helping. It just makes me sleep all the time. Anyways...after the exam we did my first adjustment and I could actually tell a serious difference. The pain wasn't as severe this morning. So I go back today at 12:30. I plan to rest all hopefully come Monday I will be somewhat back to normal.

Oh yeah...I'm also working on getting insurance!

  HI Gina
Thought I would check in on you i'm very sorry about your back issues i pray that you get well fast and recover. Rest as much as you can stay off your feet and use that pillow!!
I go to my chiropractor every two weeks. I truely believe in them and it has worked for me for two yrs now. You will see the difference in many things. Just do what they say and go easy, one day at a time.
I feel your pain I have a very bad back myself so i can relate.
I was a nurse and firefighter for many yrs and as you know you use your back for lifting patiences and firefighting forget it.
Take it easy. I hope you feel better and things are back to normal for you!

I'm praying for you girl. Maybe my story will encourage you!

I had a severe neck injury a couple of years ago...I couldn't lift my head AT ALL...I had to use a towel to lift my head so I could get out of family doctor said pretty much that I would need surgery and gave me pain pills and steroids...the pain pills were great and the steroids helped but I didn't want to even entertain the idea of surgery.

I decided to try a chiropractor and over a period of several months he slowly but surely got me back on my feet, back to work and doing great again. He knew I didn't have insurance at the time so he would give me a break here and there on therapy until I was on the road to complete recovery.

I still am extremely careful lifting heavy things but for the most part I feel great and am normal.

I am so glad and thankful I went to this chiropractor and tried an alternative to surgery. emoticon

I loved my chiropractor. He could "fix" just about any problem that I had. I haven't been able to go for a long time, and I miss it. . .

I felt the same way the first time I went to see a chiropractor. It's kind of scary. But it really does help a ton. I used to get chronic headaches and those are gone since I started going to the chiropractor.
