Turbo Kick, DOMS & New Jersey

Monday, March 10, 2008

Well this weekend was awesome. We (my mom, aunt, cousin, sister and I) drove to Quantico on Friday. It took about 2 and a half hours. Once we arrived, we checked into the hotel and then headed to Potomac Mills. It's a HUGE mall with over 200 stores. We only stayed their for a bit. I bought a really cute tote bag to carry my things to work in. Then we headed to the Olive Garden for dinner. I treated myself to the Chicken Fontina, breadsticks & salad and even a Venetian Sunset drink. So yummy! I know my calories were WAY over for that day, but honestly didn't care. It was delicious and well worth it! Afterwards we went back to the hotel & called it a night.

Saturday morning came bright and early. I woke up at 6:45 to get showered and dressed for my Turbo Kick Certification. My sister drove me. It was on the Quantico Marine Base. I got their a bit early, signed all the paperwork and got my toolbox. So happy that I had money saved to buy that!!! The toolbox has 3 rounds on top of the one round you get for certifying. For those of you who don't know much about Turbo Kick, it's the gym version of Turbo Jam. A round is a workout. It comes with the workout and the music.

The day was such a blast. Long but a lot of fun! Monique the instructor was so awesome. Great personality and tons of energy! I really enjoyed myself. It was a lot of physical activity (3-4 hours). For those of you have taken a TK class, you know how hard this can be. Needless to say by the end of the day I was exhausted. It was well worth it though. After my class (I know I passed) we left and went to TGIFridays for dinner, then headed home.

When I got home I took a shower in the dark (too tired to turn the darn light on) and went to sleep with a towel on my head. HaHa. I woke up on Sunday in SOOOO much pain. That DOMS is a killer. (delayed onset muscle soreness). My calves, glutes, inner & outer thighs, quads and hamstrings are SCREAMING!! And they still are today. So I took a bath in the jacuzzi and took some tylenol. Hopefully by tomorrow it will be gone for the most part. For those of you who know me pretty well, I am rarely ever sore, no matter how much exercise I do. That tells you just how amazing Turbo Kick is.

So I spent most of Sunday in bed, resting, trying to recover. I got caught up with my netflix movies though and watched The Hunting Party (Richard Gere) which I really liked, Gone Baby Gone (Casey Affleck & Morgan Freeman) which was amazing, Mr. Woodcock (Billy Bob Thornton) which didn't do much for me and We Own the Night (Mark Walhburg & Joaquin Pheonix) which was awesome!! I fell asleep early last night and didn't wake up til late today. I'm fine with that, I really needed the extra sleep.

I have to work today at 1. I'm thankful that it's a short day, so I can have some time to recooperate. :)

Well this upcoming weekend I'm going to see Geno. He's been sick this entire weekend, so I'm sooo hoping he gets better by Friday. Regardless I'm still going, I just wish he would feel better so we can have a better time while I'm there. But we'll see. He needs to rest up & get well. I drive down on Friday and don't get back til Monday, so I'm really looking forward to seeing him. It's been since Thanksgiving, so I really miss him.

Then once I get back it's hard core working out with a vengenance. And back to 100% eating. I'll be adding my Turbo Kick rounds into the exercise routine and the new crunchless ab workouts if they ever get here.

Can't wait to finally reach my goal weight!

Sounds like you had one heck of a weekend. I'm sure it was well worth it. So when do you find out the results on the class that you took. Your awesome, I don't know if I would be able to do that type of workout. You'll be at your goal weight in no time at all. Keep up the good work.

Long days & TURBO KICK!!!!!

Friday, March 07, 2008

Well this has been a crazy week for me, with very little time for the computer. I'm so sorry.. I feel like I haven't been on here enough to help out. I logged on this morning to 177 emails. I'm almost caught up with everything though. I've been working 7-7 at Curves. And I'm on my feet for those 12 hours. My body is used to sitting from 6-7 hours straight on a daily basis, so it's definitly going to take some adjusting. But...yesterday was my last day until Monday. :) So I have a short break. Well kinda.

My mom, sister, aunt, cousin and I are leaving for Quantico today at 1. I'm thrilled. We're staying the night. We're going to eat at the Olive Garden tonight. Then I go for my Turbo Kick certification Saturday from 8-6. It's going to be another extremely physical day, but well worth it. I'm also planning to buy the TOOL BOX that has 4 rounds in it, so I can learn to instruct. I can't wait!! Monique, the instructor, is also brining some Turbo Kick clothing for us to look at.

So I'll be packing in a few...and looking forward to this long awaited trip. And then next weekend I get to go see Geno!!! Which is LONG overdue. :) I miss him so much.

But I did want to apologize to everyone for my absence. I will be back on Sunday to get caught up. And then hopefully once I figure out this new schedule, I will be back to posting regularly.

Everyone have a FABULOUS weekend!!!

Freedom, Relaxation & Working It!

Monday, March 03, 2008

Well this weekend was pretty good. Friday was my last official day working at Culligan. Thank goodness! FREEDOM!! LoL. :) They threw my a little party with bagels, deli meats, veggies, etc. They even got a cake made with the Curves logo. I thought that was so nice. :) I'm so happy to finally be out of there though. 4 years of my life spent sitting on my kaboose making phone calls, getting consistently screamed & cursed at. Now I'm doing something along the lines of what I truly want to do. Life is getting so much better!!

Saturday my sis, her hubby, my cousin & her hubby, aunt and uncle came over. We played poker and Wii. I love the Super Mario Brothers Galaxy Game. So much fun! Tracey helped me to get through a few levels. I can't beat 2 of the levels though. Ugh. Oh well.

Sunday was a total lazy day. I got my workouts in, but I did pretty much nothing the rest of the day. Just laid around and enjoyed the relaxation.

And now the weekend is over and it's Monday. I can't believe this weekend I get to go for my Turbo Kick certification! We book a hotel room. My mom, aunt and sister are all going too. They plan to go shopping while I exercise. But we are all going to dinner Friday at the Olive Garden. Can't wait! I know I'll more then likely go over my calories that day...but I'll be exercising for 10 hours on Saturday. I think it will be okay. HaHa.

Well this morning I had a great workout. Turbo Sculpt + Ab Jam and I threw in Party Express. It was a killer workout. I have to work at 1...and I'll do a Curves workout, while I'm there.

So overall a very active day! Eating has been good too. My plan is to do as much Turbo Jam as possible to get my stamina up for this weekend.

Glad you had such a nice weekend. Congrats on your new gig with Curves. I am sure you will be inspiring to your clients.

I am trying to get workouts in twice a day - morning and evening - to increase the afterburn effects. However, I still can't make myself get up early enough to get a workout in. I'll keep trying though :-)

Have a great week!
