I just read a blog post from one of my challenge teammates and she made a comment about flexing and isolating muscles that she had not been able to do in a while. I love to see people finding other ways to track results other than a number on a scale. I find myself obsessing over the number at times as well and try to remind myself that there are so many other factors to consider success:
1. How my clothes fit
2. How do I feel
3. Do other people notice a change - this is the BEST
Upon completing the winter biggest loser challenge, I have not lost much weight. As a matter of fact, I am back to where I was when I start the fall challenge last year (vacation and xmas helped me gain a few lbs). Despite what the scale says, I feel my pants are loser, I feel great about my cardio numbers, and co-workers have commented that I look like I'm losing weight. All those things are more important to me than the number on the scale.
Going forward I know the number on the scale will go up a little and down a little but that is OK as long as I can feel good about myself and stay in a healthy weight range. I have been able to do that for the past 2 years, and that is another factor to consider.....keeping off the weight. I feel great that I have not gained back more than 5lbs of the ~20lbs I lost 2 years ago. I have good days and bad days but figure I must be doing something right.
I want to finish by thanking all of my Tangerine teammates (esp the team leaders) for continuing to motivate and keep us on track during the holidays, which is a TOUGH time of year to try to lose weight (or even maintain).
