Medicine for a sweet tooth

Wednesday, May 15, 2013

What a nice quiet peaceful rainy day. I had some turmeric tea it was very tasty and calming. Got the recipe from Dr. OZ .
1 cup almond milk
1 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp turmeric
1/4 tsp ginger
drizzle of honey

Heat almond milk and add spices and drizzle honey. It knocked my sweet tooth right out.

Confessions

Monday, May 13, 2013

Confession time: I blew it royally this week with my eating. It started with a wednesday lunch date then a friday night at The Hard Rock Cafe (even though I shared the Angus burger and fries and cobbler) and a saturday dinner out and sunday dinner out. I did eat a healthy meal for breakfast on sunday though in spite of the fact that my family ate waffles. Did I mention the bag of chocolate covered almonds I devoured in 2 days. At least they were almonds and not snickers. I had oatmeal and blueberries, blackberries, strawberries and walnuts. I exercised less this week due to a hectic schedule. I still worked out 3 days. I got on the scale for my weekly weigh in this morning because even though I did not faithfully track my calorie intake I refuse to not know how I am doing. Sure enough I had gained weight. I went from 165.8 to 166.6. Even as I am blogging I realize this is not too bad considering how I had eaten and I still did some things that are right. The moral of the story for me is to wipe myself off get back up and keep it moving. I am in the game of healthy living for life after all.

This is why blogging is important I feel better already and realize that I am still a different person that I used to be and I am making good changes for the long haul.
Good for me.

well yes.... but it is harder not to indulge when going out or holidays. We need a plan. But I do expect to eat some unhealthier stuff during these things but it's also good to practice some restraint.

Usually I try and do some extra xercise or eat lighter later.

On ward and beyond... emoticon

I have been following my program quite well; however, yesterday I did induldge in more carbs than was wise.

Today is a new day - the start of being back on track, as we become the best we can be.

God bless!

Reflections

I am grateful today for the gift of being mother to three wonderful teenagers and wife to one awesome husband. They make my job so worthwhile. It is truly a privilege to be a parent. Feeling very reflective this Mothers Day Weekend.

Ever learning about myself

Wednesday, May 08, 2013

Did something I know I should never do. I went to lunch with my hubby midweek. Not that I should not go to lunch but I should scour the menu and pick the location. Also I like my cheat day on the weekend. We had New Orleans food fried crawfish and a seafood bisque with a poboy with grilled shrimp. They brought bread to the table and I said I would not eat it because my sandwich had bread on it but I ate it anyway. The crawfish was tasty but since I stopped eating the white refined bread it made me feel too heavy as well as the grease from the crawfish. Lesson learned. I guess I had my cheat day for the week early. Back on focus. By the way I lost 2 lbs more this week so proud of myself. Learning daily how to have grace for myself and not beating myself up for little slipups. I have never been more focused.

This is a new lifestyle. Everyone makes mistakes when learning something new - this is no different.

You are doing great!

Don't think of it as a slip up. Moderation is the key. We all eat a bit more than we should, at times, but now that you are eating healthy your body will rebel. Soon you'll be more likely to avoid the fried food because your body will react quite negatively to it.

You should be proud of yourself! Not only for the 2 pound weight loss, but that you didn't "go crazy" after having a cheat day midweek. I know I used to just eat everything in sight if I thought I "messed up." Not anymore! You are definitely "getting there" with a healthy lifestyle.
