Optimistic

Today is day 6 of entering my food/water intake, exercise in my log book. I do it this way because it's easier for me to transfer it online later in the day or all at once on another day if at all possible. I have been using this log book since 2007 (when I joined SP). The book hasn't been used heavily, I hate to admit. But I am going to try to fill the book up this year! I did not log what I ate over the weekend, but have been trying to keep track of my steps.

Today my pedometer keeps falling off, even though it has an extra clip, and I think I will need to add some steps since I did the elliptical (fell off then) and took a 20 minute walk with the dog & kids (fell off during the walk too!).

I am very optimistic today because I actually am beginning to see that I CAN fit in a 20 minute elliptical workout with my 3 yr old around. It takes some planning, but it can be done. I've done it twice now! Yipppeeeee! I need to plan more about how to get strength training in, as well as possible DVD workouts. I now realize how out of shape I am and really want to be able to get fit!

So, my optimism for today will hopefully give me encouragement for the future days to come when I feel I can't do a workout or feel to sluggish to get moving. A few days ago I felt like doing nothing, had a slight headache and MADE myself get on the elliptical. You know what? My headache was gone after I worked out. All that oxygen I guess ~ LOL! I was still sluggish, but a lot less than I had been and worked through what I needed to get done for the day.

So grab some optimism and run with it! emoticon

Back On The Elliptical

Today was my 1st time back on my elliptical since April '09! I can't believe it has been that long, but the last log I have 4/6/09!!!! So needless to say, I felt so out of shape being on there for 20 minutes. My pedometer reads 9,028 steps....so that's pretty good. Aiming for 10,000 steps each day if at all possible.

I also ate pretty well today. I recorded most of what I ate in a journal, but haven't had time to enter it on Spark yet. Baby steps....

Thinking Ahead To The New Year

A Facebook friend of mine posted the following as her status:

So true. Weight loss is hard. So how do you tolerate the "how" of it? The answer, "Why" is weight loss worth it. Example: are skinny jeans worth passing on donuts? Is avoiding heart disease worth 30 min of exercise?

Tomorrow I am going to read over all of my blog posts since starting SparkPeople. I am going to try to come up with a 'restart' list of things I need to focus on to get my butt back in gear so I can get healthy!     Wonderful plan! Good advice from Nietzsche and Jillian Michaels.
Being motivated to follow a good food plan and also to exercise will fulfill all the desires you have to lose weight and eventually it will come off if you stick to the plan.

I know I haven't blogged for quite sometime. Heck, I haven't been on SparkPeople much, haven't been eating too healthy or exercising either. Not good. Time to change that!

I just wanted to remind everyone that with the holiday coming up it is so very easy to over eat and then feel so sick afterwards. Take your time. Enjoy the special foods in moderation. Celebrate, but try not to overdo it. And then, Saturday, the day after Christmas, take a walk, get on your treadmill, elliptical or bike and burn some calories! I plan on doing that and I hope I can get a head start on the new year ahead! A healthy lifestyle change is what I am aiming for. I hope many of you will join me and support me in this oh so difficult battle in losing weight and getting healthy!

    Happy Birthday to you! Make this year ALL ABOUT YOU! It's tough when you're a mom....my girls are 8 & 5...and currently are on conferences this week so my schedule is all messed up.
