*2012* Day 30-31

Wednesday, February 01, 2012

1/30- This was a not a very productive day for me and it could have been. I was very positive upon waking and then around 10am a message was left on our answering machine that ticked me off! Without getting into it here, it was someone 'pretending' not to know something that they very well do and 'playing' the part of 'poor me'. So that just peeved me off for the rest of the day. I should've used my negative energy to work out, but I had so many other things I had to do around the house that I focused on those things.

1/31- My Mom has the cold that my daughter and I had last week, so she couldn't watch my 5 yr old. I decided to get some shopping done for things that have been long overdue (kitchen place mats, tablecloth, and a bunch of other odds & ends). I got most of the items on my list including a heart rate monitor. However, after reading reviews on the one I bought, I think I will be returning it today and try to get a different one. Apparently having a chest strap is important, and the one I bought was just a wrist watch type. I am surprised at how expensive heart rate monitors are! This is the one I am thinking of getting:

So, although I don't believe I lost any weight in January, I did jump start my exercise again, which was my main goal. I DID earn the January JumpStart Challenge Trophy and I am focused on LOSING this extra weight this year. Not giving up, not giving in, just moving on! emoticon

Glad to hear that Samaara! I don't know a lot about HRM's, but I think it will be a good investment. Apparently the one I linked to isn't sold in the store, but I can order it online for in-store pick-up, so after I return this one, I think that is what I will do. Just trying to stay focused!

*2012* Day 29~ Xbox Kinect WorkOut!

Sunday, January 29, 2012

So,instead of doing the elliptical today and strength training videos from SparkPeople, I decided to tell my kids that we would play Xbox Kinect games this afternoon. We played from 2:30pm until 4:45pm! The various games we played are pictured below. I have no idea how to track the fitness minutes for all of these games, but let me tell you, I was sweating and drank 40 ozs of water in that time period. So, I decided to enter 45 minutes as low-impact aerobics and another 45 minutes as high impact aerobics on he SP fitness tracker. I think what I need to buy is a heart rate/calorie monitor. This way I can accurately see how much cardio exercise I have gained from these games. It was a lot of fun and now I am thinking about buying one of the Kinect fitness games. (Gee, we've only had the Kinect since December 2010 and we haven't used it to its potential. emoticon I think I just decided I am going to use this gaming console as another fitness tool in my arsenol emoticon)

Love this! I am tossing the idea around about getting Xbox kinect for the fitness games- think you sold it for me. Workouts that are fun and get the whole family involved are great. emoticon

*2012* Day 28

Saturday, January 28, 2012

1/28- 30 minutes on the elliptical. I am having digestive issues today, so I will add 2 SP challenge videos tomorrow and earn my January JumpStart Challenge Trophy. (I hope!)
I also walked the neighborhood a bit to help my 9 yr old deliver some of her Girls Scout cookies.

And speaking of those addictive cookies, Yes, I did have some of them and I hope I can start to resist the urge to open the package again and again and again! They are just too good! Grrrrrr!

I am psyched about a new challenge I created for my 40 & Fabulous team! If you are in your 40's feel free to join us in the challenges forum! ( www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/groups_i
ndividual.asp?gid=12714

I also posted this challenge on the FaceBook team I created so that when Sparkers are on Facebook they have a place to come and talk SP too!
Join us there if you have a Facebook account:

So tomorrow is the beginning of a new week and we're getting closer to a new month. What are your goals for the coming month? I hope to incorporate more new meal plans and snack plans into my diet and I hope to earn the 5,000 fitness minutes trophy next month....it will be a 1st for me if I can do it!

*2012* Day 27 ~ Coming Back!

Friday, January 27, 2012

1/27/12

As much as I was unsure of how my body would react from doing cardio with this cold, I went ahead and decided to go for it this morning. I took some extra puffs of my inhaler because I knew I would probably have some breathing issues because of my asthma. I had to use a tissue a few times throughout the workout because of my nose running, but I made it to the end. I then decided I would do 2 of the January Jumpstart SP videos to start to make up for the days I missed this week. Well, before I knew it I was cheering myself on and pushing myself to do 'just one more video'. Before I knew it I had done 4 SP videos which made up all the past days challenge videos! emoticon Me!

Today's WorkOut:
30 minute elliptical/7-Minute Upper Body Workout with Dumbbells/12-Minute Seated Core Workout/10-Minute Pilates Hips & Thighs Workout/9-Minute Arm Sculpting Workout

Tomorrow I plan on doing 30 minutes on the elliptical and 2 SP challenge videos.
The BIG challenge will be to stay away from the Girl Scout cookies that I will be picking up from my daughter's cookie mom tonight and helping her deliver to her customers tomorrow!
