*2012* Day 19-20 ~ Stronger

1/19-This was a 'down' day due to digestive issues, as well as a busy day.

1/20- I made up for yesterday by doing Day 5 & 6 SP videos for the January JumpStart Challenge along with 30 minutes on the elliptical. Again, I was tired and lazy because of this cold January weather and could've easily just sat down to read a book or surf on the internet, but I am devoted to this! So I went downstairs, put a load of laundry in, got my 5 yr old situated on her computer to play a game and then got on my elliptical for 30 minutes. It felt emoticon! I have a radio in the corner of the room and just listen to what is on the local station and today they were playing some great workout music! That really makes a difference, so I am going to make a point to put together some great music on my mp3 player and hook it up to the portable speaker I got for Christmas (just haven't had the time to sit and do this.) One song in particular came on while I was on the elliptical: "What Doesn't Kill You (Stronger)" by Kelly Clarkson. I don't think I've heard this song before and it really pumped me up! Love it! So, my 1st load of laundry is done and in the dryer, 2nd load is in the washer and I have 2 more loads to wash. Yes, winter time there is always more laundry because the clothes are thicker. We're expecting anywhere from 3-8" of snow tomorrow (the 1st of the season here....that's actually unbelievable!) and my kids are so hoping to get out to play in the snow. We shall see. I have 1 week and 1 day left of this January JumpStart Challenge and am so pumped that I have gotten this far! January had never been a great month for me o stay comitted to exercise due to the cold, dreary days and usually lack of sunshine. But something is different this year. Not sure what, but I am running with it! I am getting stronger everyday and hope that I can achieve the weight loss I so long for by the time summer arrives. I know what I need to do, I just need to keep this motivation to keep doing it!

    I love that song! It is on my gym playlist and I GOYBAD'd for the butterflies the other day too.

*2012* Day 17-18

Yesterday (Day 17) was a rest day. I was kid-less and decided I was going to take a relaxing day for ME! I finished a book I've been reading, watched 3 episodes of an hour long show that was TIVO'ed, and then put some books on my Kindle for future reading.

Today (Day 18), I was tired and knew I had to get in my exercise early today or it wouldn't happen. After I returned from dropping my oldest daughter at school, I told my 5 yr old that I was exercising. So at 9:05am I got on the elliptical for 30 minutes, then did the 8 minute video from yesterdays challenge and today's 12 minute challenge video. And, I reached 500 fitness minutes for the month! This is only the 2nd time I have done this. Very proud if I do say so myself! Not sure I will hit the 1,000 fitness minutes trophy, but I can try I guess!

It is cold and windy as all heck here today and it would've been so easy to just lounge around today. Right now I am tired, but I feel great knowing I forced myself to get that exercise in! emoticon

    You are doing so great. It's wonderful to see you being so positive and making the choices to put yourself first, even when it's just reading or watching TV. Very healthy choices in the long run too.

I didn't think I was going to get in my elliptical today, let alone 2 SP videos....but I DID!
It was later in the day (4:30-5:30), but I made it happen. Some days I surprise myself and today was one of them.

Day 12- 30 minutes on the elliptical and 2 videos (10-Minute Pilates Hips & Thighs Workout/12-Minute Seated Core Workout)

Day 13 30 minutes on the elliptical and 1 workout video (9-Minute Arm Sculpting Workout)

Day 14 No exercise today.

Day 15 30 minutes on the elliptical and 1 workout video (15-Minute Abs Workout)

Each day that I exercised was a struggle to get motivated and fit in the exercise time, but I am feeling guilty if I don't workout and know that it always makes me feel better (and sleep better too!) It is half way through the month of January and I almost have my goal of 500 fitness minutes! I can't believe it! Only one other month I achieved this trophy and that was in September 2011. emoticon

So, I was a bit sore from yesterday. Today I was having some digestive issues, so I decided to take the day off from exercise. I will make up today's challenge video tomorrow. Sometimes you just need a day to bounce back and I hope doing that today helps me have a more successful day tomorrow.

    You are wise to have a rest day, it's obviously what your body is telling you it needs! It's so easy to get fixated on all the things we 'have' to do that sometimes we forget that we need to rest sometimes too. Hope you had a great day!
