Update

Saturday, July 23, 2011

My last blog entry was exercise on 6/27/11. That was the last time I stepped on the elliptical. Obviously I did not complete the 10-Minute Daily Exercise Streak Challenge. I should have known better than to pick that type of challenge for this time of year.

Anyhow, I felt I needed to answer to my Spark friends and let you all know where my mind has been. Everything went downhill for me soon after my 8 year old daughter ended her school year (that was on June 7th). Sleepovers, birthday parties, her first time at camp and trying to pinpoint when the kitchen remodeling would take place occupied my time and thoughts. Anxiety about a lot of things I guess. I just stopped exercising (although we've been swimming a lot because it is so HOT!) and haven't been watching what I've been eating as closely. My sleep habits have been awful as well.

So, tomorrow my husband and his friend will be tearing out our kitchen cabinets and this entire week will be the installation. So we will be without a kitchen (that includes the sink and dishwasher folks) this entire week. We do plan on eating out some, but not all of the time. It will be a treat for our family, as we do not eat out much and are thinking of frequenting a diner a few times in place of fast food, which just makes everyone feel gross anyway.

On the positive side I have not gained any weight. It surprises me because I have been eating some junk food snacks, but I guess I haven't been eating as much and of course swimming helps. I hope to get back into the habit of visiting SparkPeople daily again. I was on a 7 week streak of exercising 90 minutes or more per week and I really screwed that up emoticon

Time to look forward and lose some more pounds! emoticon

Great to have you back again and good luck with the remodeling.
You must be a lot more active than you thought, running around and swimming as opposed to standard exercising. Good job on maintaining.

Well, it is good news if you have been able to maintain your weight even as you haven't been doing as much exercise.

Probably. getting back on track won't be that hard.

Here's to losing again! emoticon

My 10-Minute Daily Exercise Streak Challenge

Wednesday, June 01, 2011

June 1st through 30th : Exercise for 10 minutes per day at least 5 times per week.

***As you can see, I messed up half way through the month***

1- 30 minutes elliptical
2- 10 minute walk w/dog (tummy issues today)
3- 30 minutes on elliptical (Intermediate Level 2)~20 minutes on elliptical (Beginner Level 1) and 15 minutes of strength training TOTAL: 65 minutes (not to mention 2 1/2 hours of steam cleaning the upholstery on the sofas, recliner, pillows and 1/2 the hallway!)
4- Way more than 10 minutes of physical activity. I pushed all the furniture in the living room to one side of the room and then steam cleaned the rugs on the empty half. Waited for it to dry, then pushed all the furniture to the other side of the room. Repeated the steam cleaning of the carpet. After completely dried, I rearranged the liviing room furniture! This probably took me 2 1/2 hours total to do. I am whooped!
5-
6- Elliptical 30 minutes @ Intermediate level 2 / 20 minutes @ Beginner Level 1
9 minute video: Day 7 New YOU Bootcamp Workout/9-Minute Core Workout
8 minute video: Day 6 New YOU Bootcamp Workout/8-Minute Upper Body Workout
TOTAL TIME: 67 minutes

My June 2011 Goals

Wednesday, June 01, 2011

So I took my measurements today. There have been some slight changes. The largest thing I've noticed by looking at my reports is that I lost 1 inch off of my hips since March and 2 inches off of my thighs since last July. I need to make more significant changes than these though.

Yesterday ended the Spring Into Spring Bootcamp Challenge. I hung in there and made it, but it was not easy. I think I could've done better. I did not lose any weight, but I feel more toned and definitely stronger.

My next challenge is the Official 10-Minute Daily Exercise Streak Challenge. I have never exercised consistently for 30 days in a row. I'm going to try my best to at least get in the 10 minutes a day and whatever else this challenge asks of me.

My goals for the month of June 2011 are to lose 5 lbs, focus on the target areas I need help in most (tummy, jiggly arms and inner thighs) and to step up my healthy eating. That is what has been jeopardizing me these past 3 months......my eating habits really haven't changed drastically. I'm hoping with more fresh fruits and veggies in season I can focus on healthier meals and snacks. I will have a separate blog that tracks my 10-minute daily exercise streak challenge to help me keep track.

Bring on June!

Out With Old~In With New!

Thursday, May 26, 2011

Today was just one of those days where unexpected things happened and then the day got away from me. My 8 year old daughter was home from school again today because her asthma/allergies. So in the morning I did laundry while the girls played with blocks & Lincoln logs. I thought I was getting somewhere with the laundry and vacuuming, but then right before lunch I got a phone call from the man who is going to be replacing our pool liner. He said he was going to come TODAY to replace it. Well, I had to call my husband right away because we hadn't even taken the pool cover off yet! Luckily, my husband had already been scheduled to leave work early because he had planned on doing a few errands today, but his plans also got axed due to this pool liner installation.
About 30 minutes after the man called me, they were there and ready to get going. We did not want to tell them not today because then we would've been pushed to the back of the waiting list and the weather just changed into a soupy, humid air mass today. As a matter of fact our area in Eastern Pa is supposed to be in the upper 80's for the next 7 days! What happened to Spring?
So, all that said, I did not get in my cardio today, or my bootcamp exercises. I plan on making up the bootcamp video tomorrow and getting in my 30 minte elliptical. I will be helping out at my daughter's elementary school field day tomorrow in the sweltering heat. Luckily, the time that 2nd grade will be outdoors is from 9:15 until 11am. I plan on dressing for the heat though.
Here are some pool pics for you all:

Well, we can't enjoy it just yet because it just finished filling up by the hose and is ice cold. I am hoping maybe by Sunday.

That pool looks so Inviting! I bet your daughter was excited! The weather in Ontario Canada has been horrible, tons of rain and hot then cold. In fact my 7 year old daughter has had her soccer games cancelled for the last 3 weeks due to the rain

Xtra Elliptical Time Today!

Monday, May 23, 2011

So after breakfast I started having digestive issues and spent the better part of the morning on my tummy in bed reading magazines. I had a light salad for lunch and decided I would get on the elliptical about a half hour after lunch. I started to feel better and decided that I would add 20 minutes to my elliptical workout for a total of 50 minutes....the most I've ever done! I then did my boot camp workout and felt great! I took a shower and was so glad I did not lay around for the rest of the day and instead accomplished something!

Somedays adding extra time isn't going to work, but today it did. And I am thankful for that! I never, ever thought I'd be able to last that long on the elliptical, but I did it!

Here is the link to my progress on my Spring Into Spring BootCamp Challenge:

I love my elliptical...I do on average 45 minutes most days of the week..I know there are days say I really don't feel like doing it, so I tell myself okay at least 30 minutes...and most of the time end up doing the 45 minutes. It really is a great workout and as always...feeling great afterwards..Exercise is really a mode lifter. Great job.

LaurelSpark, this is why when I do take a 30 minute walk I don't feel like it measures up to when I do an elliptical workout. I am @ the 2nd highest level on my elliptical now (Intermediate 2) which goes up to a resistance level of 8. I was amazed when I did the 20 minutes on the Beginner Level 1 for 20 minutes because I had not done that level since probably October when I started getting serious about working out more. This just goes to show that the more you do something the better you get at it. I never could have dreamed that I would be able to do 50 consecutive minutes on the elliptical. You gotta start somewhere to get somewhere I guess.

Samaara, thank you. I sometimes feel like I am not doing enough because the scale is not moving. So for now, I am trying to do a little more as time allows.

WooHoo! Sounds like you had a great workout. I'm so impressed with your 50 minutes.

I got on our trainer for the first time since Christmas. I was shocked. I walk 90 minutes, 3-4 times a week and bike at least twice a week. I thought I was in great shape but my 20 minutes on the elliptical threw me for a loop.
