The Exercise Dry Spell Is OVER!

Tuesday, March 29, 2011

I wanted to blog about this yesterday, but time got away from me. It was a very busy and productive day for me yesterday. When I woke up I felt rested and energetic. I am not a coffee drinker, but I had a cup of a Hazelnut International Coffee and boy did that wire me! (not in a feeling good way though.) I cleaned bathrooms, straightened out some cabinets, did some laundry, and then made time to get back on the elliptical in the afternoon. I was going to try a lower level and shorten the time by 10 minutes, but I decided to just continue at the Intermediate Level 2 for 30 minutes that I had been doing. I hadn't realized until I looked at the exercise log sheet that I keep that I hadn't stepped on the elliptical since March 13th!!!!! That is a 14 day exercise dry spell! Two weeks! I cannot ever let that happen again! I felt out of shape for the first 10 minutes of the workout, but it got better as I went on. I worked up a good sweat too.

There's a lot of other things going on around here, but I am trying to roll with the punches. I really want to lose a substantial amount of weight in the next 2 months----10 to 15 pounds would be so awesome, but I'm not sure that is possible. I am going to try my best though! emoticon

Thank You Spark Friends!

Saturday, March 26, 2011

I just wanted to create a blog post to say emoticon to all my Spark friends who have left comments on my Sparkpage, sent me a SparkGoodie, or private messaged me. It is inspiring and encouraging to know you are all rooting for me to get back on the exercise wagon.

I was definitely going to get back on the elliptical today, but I had a bad nights sleep again last night and then my family and I went to a home expo show (we are planning on remodeling our kitchen this Spring/Summer) and when we got back from that (2 hours later) we were hungry and I had a headache so I laid down for about an hour. After that I thought I would be 'elliptical bound', but it did not happen. I will be forcing myself to get in exercise every day this week. I gotta be a little harder on myself. The darn elliptical is in my basement for goodness sake! I WILL do this and am so grateful to have so many people behind me rooting me on! emoticon

Thanks again friends! emoticon

Good luck getting it in this week - YOU CAN DO IT! Try not to get down on yourself for not doing it, just move on. Sometimes if I dwell too much on what I haven't done it brings me down and I don't want to do what I should do. I like Carter4414's idea to schedule it. We're all cheering for you!

It is great to know that there are people out there rooting for us, and that we are all facing the same struggles.

I remembered the last time that I got so busy, and I didn't do any cardio for a week. I finally had to say that "It will happen at 11:00 on Wednesday!" I even wrote it on my calendar.

Another Setback

Tuesday, March 22, 2011

Last week I had such high aspirations for exercising and losing weight. Then, last Tuesday night the sleeplessness began. My 4 year old woke in the middle of the night and would not go back to sleep. She went to her Pre-K class and 30 minutes after I left I got a call on my cellphone saying she had been crying for the past 20 minutes complaining of a stomach ache. I knew it wasn't a stomach ache because she had been acting excited to go to her class an hour earlier. I think it all had to do with a bad dream the night before because when I brought her home she ate her lunch and was fine. Then nighttime came and she did not want to sleep in her room. Battles. Add to this the nightly wakings because our dog is on prednisone again and needs to go out to pee (one night he was out at 1-3-5am. So on Thursday my 4 year old gets sick. (sore throat, cough, fever, runny nose). She gets over it pretty much by Saturday and then my 8 year old starts with it on Sunday. Today was her 2nd day home from school. Oh, but back up a bit. Last night my 4 yr old wakes me up at 12midnight saying her ear hurts her. I give her Motrin and she goes back to sleep.....for 3 hours. She is then up from 3:30am until 6:30am crying. She finally gets a bit of rest, wakes up and eats breakfast. She seems better, but I had already phoned the pediatrician and got an appointment for 12:30pm. My Mom came to stay with my 8 year old while we went to the appointment.

So, the verdict is the start of pneumonia & built up earwax putting pressure on the eardrum. Yucky amoxicillin medicine (watermelon flavored, but still yucky) that she has to take 2x's a day for 10 days, nebulizer treatments 3x's a day, and ear drops 2x's a day to soften her ear wax. Add in my 8 year old's asthma treatments/meds & the dog's pill & ointment, I'm becoming a regular Florence Nightingale! (NOT!)

Needless to say I am more than exhausted and exercise is the LAST thing on my mind. My eating has been so off kilter too because I have a bit of this 'cold' they gave me and the addition of lack of sleep has not helped.

I just wanted to let all of my Spark friends know that I have not given up, I've just had a setback due to my responsibilities to my family. I hope that by the end of the week I feel rested enough to exercise and that this cold does not progress. I keep telling myself it could be my seasonal allergies too. Either way, I cannot wait to get back into a workout routine again and start getting these pounds off of my body! I *think* that I have maintained my weight loss from the past prior weeks....I hope so anyhow.

I hope to be back to sparking with you all real soon! emoticon

28-Day BootCamp WorkOut Challenge Complete!

Wednesday, March 02, 2011

Well I did it. I kind of can't believe it, but I did. I do feel a bit stronger and toned. I am going to try to continue the 10-minutes of exercise a day and definitely try to continue the 30 minutes of cardio 5x's a week. Of course when I have the opportunity, I will try to squeeze in more!

My new challenges for March are the 'Mix It Up Challenge' (use 3 things in my inventory of exercise equipment per week) and the 'Spring Into Spring Accountability Challenge' (weight & fitness challenge with weekly weigh-in and weekly fitness minute goals). Both challenges will be tracked on my blog in separate posts. I'm looking forward to incorporating new things into my workout and focusing on some of my 'problem' areas this month. Gotta get ready for Spring!

Completing a challenge can be such an exhilarting experience!
Your plans to continue building on the experience are great.
After completing my first bootcamp I also kept the format. It has proven extremely beneficial.
Keep moving, growing stronger and becoming healthier. emoticon
