Day 10 of the challenge. I just realized that on Valentine's Day (2/14) will be the 1/2 way point for me on this challenge! It's hard to believe that I could be half way through this already!
Today I did the Day 4 Boot Camp video and used my hour and a half of ice skating as my cardio for the day. I did not fall at all and was very proud of my 8 year old daughter, as this was her 1st time ice skating. I must say that my glute and thigh muscles are feeling a bit sore now and I am very tired. I hadn't been ice skating since I was probably 12 years old. It was fun to get out there and still be able to do it!
Day 9 of this challenge. Feeling good about getting in my exercise time. Not the best about some of my eating habits. But I am working at it. I really need to get more menu and snack ideas. Just need to find more time to peruse the SparkRecipes site!
I did the Day 3 BootCamp video and 30 minutes on the elliptical. I didn't have the elliptical scheduled, but tomorrow is going to be a very busy day. I am going ice skating with my daughter after school. She's invited to a birthday/ice skating sleepover and she's never ice skated before, so I'm going along. I haven't gone ice skating since I was probably 12 years old! So that said, I'm guessing I may have some sore body parts after this outing.
I may not have the time to blog tomorrow, so Ill most likely be back blogging on Saturday. Have a great weekend everyone!
Today I took a break from the elliptical, but I dialed up the toning exercises!
I did the SparkPeople Bootcamp Video (Day 2), SparkPeople 7-Minute Upper Body Band Workout Video, and SparkPeople Bootcamp Video (Day 4). That Day 4 video is not the day 4 video for our 28 day challenge though; it's this one: www.sparkpeople.com/resource/fitness _articles.asp?id=1254 These can probably count as my (2) bonus videos for the week, but I will probably do another because I had a lot of fun challenging myself with these new videos and doing workouts that I've never done before. I slipped off the ball a couple of times during the core exercises, but I think that was because I haven't used the ball in such a long time. It was great to get back on it again. Not as sore today and hopefully will get in an elliptical workout tomorrow, plus the 10 minute Bootcamp video.
So, last week around 10pm I decided to join the 28-Day BootCamp Challenge. That reflected last Tuesday as Day 1, but in actuality I am a day behind and I am sticking with that. When I signed up for the challenge I was hoping it would give me the kick in the pants I needed to jump-start working out more....and boy has it! I'm planning my weeks and days out now so I can fit in my exercise (easier said than done some days).
Today I've gotten in my elliptical workout and did the Day 1 video of the workout (since I doubled up on the videos yesterday). I did the modified jumping jacks because I had done 35 minutes on the elliptical prior to doing the video and I knew I wouldn't be able to do them. I didn't even attempt the squat thrusts and just walked in place. I vaguely remember having to do squat thrusts in gym class and wasn't good at them back then. I did attempt the mountain climbers today and did okay. I did not make it through all of them, but most. I do feel better about this Day 1 video than I had felt about it last week.
I did not lose any weight and my measurements have not changed. I did record my energy and stress levels as being higher, as well as my sleep quality and self-esteem levels. So this week it's time for me to step up the strength training a bit and start finding healthier snack alternatives, as well as better meal ideas. I think if I do that I may see some pounds and inches drop. (I can only hope!)
I really could have skipped exercising all together today. My stomach isn't right (gas?) and I really would have rather skipped it. But I am committed to this. I did the elliptical for 30 minutes and could not wait for the time to end. After I was done I drank some more water and got ready to do the Day 7 Bootcamp Video. (I'm a day ahead on the videos.) The climbing a rope crunches weren't too bad, but the bicycle crunches killed me! The toe touch crunches and the double leg lowers were okay, but those side plank crunches hurt my shoulder more than anything. The plank with pike was not my thing at all. The lower back extensions felt good.
I must say that now that I have my exercises in for the day I am feeling better. Maybe I just needed to get my body moving to get other things moving
