Day One on the EAT, STOP, EAT......

Saturday, June 27, 2009

I went to a Birthday party for a 9 year old. It was fun watching all the kids laughting and swimming!! emoticon
I did well I passed on the cake & ice cream, hot dogs, hambergers & chips. I did have lettuce and salsa. I feel good about that!!

I am also going to a sports club and hear a band we know cut loose. That should be fun. I love the loud music. It is a good way to drop out. No room left in my head to be sad when it is flooded with music. Diet soda will be the drink for me.
This weight IS coming off!

Humor Boosts the Immune System

Whenever I prick myself accidentally, I tell a joke, and my finger doesn't bleed! Well, not exactly. But if you are laid up in bed with a terrible strain of the flu that your four-year-old brought home from her play date yesterday, try to find an itsy-bitsy thread of humor in your situation, and you'll be back to work in no time. Or, better yet, dwell in the misery and stay away from the cubicle longer.

In 2006 researchers led by Lee Berk and Stanley A. Tan at Loma Linda University in Loma Linda, California, found that two hormones-beta-endorphins (which alleviate depression) and human growth hormone (HGH, which helps with immunity) increased by 27 and 87 percent respectively when volunteers anticipated watching a humorous video. Simply anticipating laughter boosted health-protecting hormones and chemicals.

In his "American Fitness" article, Dave Traynor explains a separate study at Arkansas Tech University, in which concentrations of immunoglobulin A were increased after 21 fifth graders participated in a humor program. (I'm nervous to hear about the details of that fifth-grade humor program, because my kids roar whenever you throw out a bathroom term.) Laughter was once again found to increase the ability to fight viruses and foreign cells.

Way to go on passing on the cake and ice cream and for eating the salad instead. Mind you, one scoop of ice cream is not going to hurt.

Without sounding condescending, I'm so pleased to see you in such a wonderful mood!!!!!!!! It's the best I've seen in your writings ever.

You said: "No room left in my head to be sad when it is flooded with music." When you fill your mind with as much positive as possible, you are right, there is no room for sad. :) There is a new group on SP you might be interested in. It is SparkPeople's OFFICIAL STRESS RELIEF TEAM and it is run by SP_NANCY. I think if you were part of the right teams that are uplifting and don't talk about the sad things in life, you would be more up more of the time. I don't know if you are a Christian or not, but I run a group for ladies called ChristianWomen, no spaces in it and it is very uplifting, fun etc. Fill your life with positive thoughts, positive people and positive experiences and you will float like a leaf in the wind. If you need help finding some teams that you think you may help, I'd be more than glad to help you. Just SparkMail me. I hope you continue to rise in your mood and remain positive for the most part!!!!!! Way to go!

“When I say, "I love you," it's not because I want you or because I can't have you. It has nothing to do with me. I love what you are, what you do, how you try. I've seen your kindness and your strength. I've seen the best and the worst of you. And I understand with perfect clarity exactly what you are. You're a hell of a woman.”
