I have been keeping an eye out at used book stores and the libraries too, my budget just won't allow for it any other way right now. Hope you enjoy it!

I survived the dysfunctional family function...

Sunday, March 20, 2011

I knew I could do it. I just wasn't sure about how much damage the food was going to do to me. Well, it wasn't that bad. Probably because the main irritant didn't show up. And when people started spewing stupidity I just ignored them. My daughter even said on the way home, "it was more fun and relaxed without (blank) there." So maybe its not me that is the problem.

You know, we do not get to pick our family. But we can ignore them. Glad you had a good time with family.

Dysfunctional family function today

Saturday, March 19, 2011

Today is our monthly family birthday celebration with the extended family. I call it the dysfunctional family function. I dread them because I really don't care to interact with some of these people. Their basic core beliefs don't mesh with my branch of the family tree. On a positive note,we only have to do this 10 times a year. I usually have to consume some alcohol to take the edge off. This time the food and activities got dumped in my lap. I can handle it. I may have to run a couple extra miles so I can drink today. emoticon emoticon

You can do it - it's One day at a time.

I know - just keep telling yourself that you can do it!

This is going to be hard..do not look at it as a family function...look at it as an opportunity to talk with people would never associated with because of their core belief and to talk with them and (the hard part) hear what they have to say...notice I did not say agree and sure did not say argue.

I know they are family and we expect family to be just like us and support us. But family can be about helping us grow and mature....

Look at it as a practise seccion for talking with strangers who have different views then you (that is actually easier because there is no previous family baggage

Good luck and just have a good time

Mar. 18

Friday, March 18, 2011

I made it through the festivities yesterday. I managed to stay in calorie range and had a deficit for the day too! WooHoo! I passed on all of the alcohol. That is the only thing that saved me.

Now I have to do it all over again on Saturday for another St. Patrick's party.

I did once...I can do it again!
