Wishing you a rainbow
For sunlight after showersó
Miles and miles of Irish smiles
For golden happy hoursó
Shamrocks at your doorway

eat what your BODY wants...

Tuesday, March 15, 2011 may not be the same as what your MIND is telling you...

Does your body really want pop? It really wants WATER!

Does it really want greasy fat foods? Probably not.

CHALLENGE yourself to eat JUST ONE girl scout cookie...

Monday, March 14, 2011

or one of anything for that matter. I challenged myself and I did it! I made a big production of it. I sat down in the dining room with a plate and silverware and napkin. Free from distractions like the tv or kids. I didn't use the silverware, it was just there. I put ONE THIN MINT on the smallest plate I could find. I looked at it, smelled it, then broke in two, smelled it again. I put half of it in my mouth. I just let it sit there in my mouth. Enjoying the chocolate melting in my mouth. Absorbing the clean mint sensation. Then I slowly crunched the cookie between my teeth. I repeated the process with the other half. I realized I could enjoy JUST ONE. I didn't have to consume the entire sleeve. My husband suggests that the entire sleeve IS the proper serving size.

I tried something similar a couple of weeks ago. I had not had a potato chip since Jan. 1. So I ate just one. And I realized that I didn't really WANT anymore. It was ok to have JUST ONE.

So I am going to enjoy my thin mints(that I had to hide) ONE at a time. emoticon

I've found that I enjoy those things in smaller portions anyways. I have a bag of candy cane kisses from Christmas still. I enjoy them 2 or 3 kisses at a time (instead of the servings size of 6). I just put one in my mouth and let it slowly melt, and I just enjoy it and taste it and it's marvelous.

Same thing with having just one potato chip.

If I eat too many now they just don't taste as good anymore. It's like that first one is the BEST one. After that the guilt starts to kick in.

I've gotten to the bottom of a pack of crackers or chips or cookies and had them starting to stale, so instead of keeping them I end up sharing the last ones out with the kids and everyone.

You enjoy your Thin Mints!
