Salsa Junkie

Tuesday, November 23, 2010

I'm not a junkie, but I love salsa. Not necessarily hot, hot, but medium is fine. There are two things I love it on. A plain baked potato is delicious with just salsa. And I use it as a salad dressing. Everything in it can be found in a salad, so it makes perfect sense. Try it out.

I use salsa as salad dressing, and potato dressing too! Yumm!! This summer I got some of the corn salsa from the Clovis farmers market. OMG Delicious! emoticon

I also love salsa, sometimes when I make it at home I just eat it by the spoonful. I think salsa is an excellent salad dressing!

Making Freggie Changes

Friday, November 19, 2010

Every week or so, I'm trying a new FRuit or vGGIE. Last week it was kale. It was so good, my daughter and I just about ate it all ourselves. This week I sauted plaintains and sprinkled a tiny bit of gray salt over them. Everyone loved them. They sort of taste like a bland new potato. Both of these items are now are my list to remake. I DO love veggies so this experiment isn't hard for me. I just bought some turnips and I'm going to oven roast them. Can't wait to try.

Hay!!good for you. Adding vegetables to your food plan is one of the best ways to get minerals and vitamins.
I just recently saw kale at the store and am eating it again.
I like to try all greens. My Grandmother grew her own and as a child I ate them often.
Plantains I have had a lot, lived in South Florida for 17 years, ate lots of plantains. But usually double fried. not the best way, Smile.!!
Have a nice day and Spark on.

What a great goal. I have always wondered how certain vegetables taste. This sounds like a goal I would like to do next month. Thanks for the idea.

Venturing Further

Thursday, November 18, 2010

I am barely starting to walk further from the house. The reason? Last spring I was up to 2 miles and was in the middle of a vineyard when I got a bad case of diahhrea. I made it home but had to stop continually and sit on the ground. I was so panicky that I stopped walking except in front of the t.v. For a month I've been walking around and around the block. That gets old right away. Two days ago I tried for an extra block and did okay. It's like taking baby steps all over again.

I can understand why you wouldn't want to venture too far from home. With winter on it's way, I use Leslie Sansone indoor walking DVD's. They are really more like low impact aerobics and you can start out with one mile. It's fun because there are a group of people and you don't feel like you are exercising alone. Did I say fun? lol

Which Came First?

Monday, November 15, 2010

No, not the old story about the chicken and egg. That was settled when my oldest daughter was 4. She said, "Why would God put an egg on earth with no one to guard it!"
My question is this: Which comes first, the jerking awake or the dream. What I mean is, sometimes when U fall asleep, U wake up with a jerk. This is the muscles relaxing in your body. And when this happens, U dream of falling off a curb or tripping. So which came first? The jerking motion or the dream? Or does the brain know your muscles are about to relax, so it throws in the dream? Quite a question for Monday morning!

I think the dream comes first. It seems that I'm in good dreams when the jerking comes and wakes me up. Have a great day.
