New Beginnings

Sunday, January 03, 2010

The New Year is always a new beginning. We can make goals and either keep them or forget about them. I think the easiet thing to do is just continue on with Spark People and keep our goals there. If we follow the plan, everything should come together for all of us. My motto is, "If it is to be, it is up to me." We can do this together. Happy New Year.

Happy New Year! It's a relief not to start over with the New Year. I've just got to continue my program, maintain the good habits I've developed and add more as I can.

Treadmill

Tuesday, December 29, 2009

I asked for and got a new treadmill for Christmas. I really like it. Last night I tried interval walking which is 1 1/2 min. of slower (but not really slow) walking and then 30 sec. of fast walking. They wanted me to walk 4 MPH but I'm not ready for that speed yet. I kept it at 3.5 MPH and that was fast for me. I felt really good and proud when I finished. I'm not a nighttime walker and not an exerciser so this was something new.
This a.m. I walked again but because I had just gotten up, I didn't do the interval--just a casual walk. I did increase and decrease the speed but not to a big degree. I could get used to this!

New Year's

Monday, December 28, 2009

My DH and I are deadheads in that we usually go to bed early on New Year's Eve. We go to our cabin in the mountains and we usually chill out. However, if we have the grand children with us, I will stay up and let them make lots of NOISE! One year, someone dared my two grandsons, ages 12 and 10 at the time, to run around our short block naked. Now remember, we are in the mountains and there's snow on the ground and it's usually about 20 degrees. Well, money was offered and they did it. They had pointed party hats and they put them on their privates and ran. We laughed so hard. They want to do it every year but they are too old now. Anyway, we do find our own fun.

Cruise

Sunday, December 27, 2009

I am going on a cruise in Feb. I've been on several but I was never in condition to do the healthy exercising. This time I'm going to try. Before, they had like a passport card and if you ate the Spa Menu, exercised, joined sports teams, walked the decks, etc. you got points. At the end of the cruise you could win prizes. I think I'm going to try this time. I couldn't get around the boat the other cruises but I know I can now. I never overate--in fact lost weight--but I didn't necessarily stick to the better foods. This time I know better. I'm also taking my computer so I can stay connected to SPeople. Things are going to be different.

Have fun. I've never been on a cruise, but I have always wanted to. I've heard they have spinning classes etc. on many cruises. Enjoy!

Can I get in your suitcase and go too? That sounds like SO much fun! Is this a "destination cruise"?

What a wonderful trip to look forward too. I have never been on a cruise but had no idea that they had that kind of "game" either. It sure sounds like a lot of fun and a chance to win prizes too. Have a great time.

Look But Don't Use

Saturday, December 26, 2009

My DH and I had a big blowup on Christmas morning. He had bought me an expensive set of knives a while back that I use daily. He went to use a knife and saw a nick in the blade. And he went balistic and ended up storming out of the house--first time in 50 years. He said I wasn't being careful enough with the knives and I told him I was as careful as I could be but I used the knives daily. He has this thing about keeping things pristine. He likes to buy the best and keep it looking like new. I get screamed at if he find one wayward French fry under a seat--I don't eat fast food anymore, thankfully. I can't figure out why you buy something you can't use. It doesn't make since. Anyway, the rest of Christmas went well. He's thinking about buying a new dish washer. I guess I'll be doing dishes by hand so the machine doesn't get dirty!

    Afternoon Geri,
As we know life is to short to getupset over material things. They can be replaced...I don't have a dishwasher if I did I would use it......we use paper plates most of the time.....depending on what my husband cooks for us.

We are going on our second electric knife that we use for alot of foods.
The first one he burned out lol
Do not use this appliance for cutting frozen meat.....giggles

As for your knife, it may have come with a nick or who knows how it got there.

Don't fret over it, he will get over it....hope your day if filled with sunshine,
smiles, and laughter my friend.

take, care.....
Gods Blessings

love and hugs, Paula :)
