Two years ago, today. I JOINED Sparks!

Two years, later: I have 99 Spark Friends!
I have 55 Less Pounds, to carry around!
I found what works and how to work it, for me!

I am proud to be a Spark Member, and I am a different person then I use to be. I am in control, of what I am doing and I have a plan. I am working toward 180 lb. weight goal, and I know, I will reach it!

I can now take care of my own apartment, take care of myself. I am able to shower, dress and put on my shoes. That feels so good, being dependent, enough to do this!

I have been able to get off of oxygen, completely and I am looking forward, for a dramatic, change in the medicines, I need to take. I no longer use a walker, cane, or power lift chair, for rising up and walking!

I followed the blood type diet, for Type O, then the Genotype (I am a Gatherer) and recently, was able to invest in a SWAMI which is a personal diet, with my genetics, my family medical history, my blood type, and measurements and fingerprints, all considered. This is the other group, along with Spark People, that has enabled me to go from 372.75 to 255.0 since 2005.

The challenges, encouragement, motivation, comments, articles here, was the extra boost I needed, to pull this all together and make this possible!

Thank you Spark Man, his Team, My Teams and My friends and Family, were in this together and together we shall succeed.

Each time I read a success from a member, I feel excited, I feel inspired! Life is Good and I'm ALIVE, to live it, that is what I am most thankful for.

ASSIGNMENT#1, July 6th 2011

First I want to Thank All The Leaders for all the help they give, to make these challenges work!

Second I want to encourage everyone, when your team is formed and you read a blog from a team member, subscribe to it, that way you know what is happening with other people on your team. Especially, as a weight leader, this has helped me learn from them and post information they may be able to use!

Third I encourage you when you read another team's blog or another member's blog that interest, you subscribe to it. This keeps us connected!

Fourth- Remember comments are welcomes and appreciated and encouragement, for most everyone who receives them and reads them.

Fifth- It is so much fun to receive a surprise spark goodie! Even if it is one to say I'm thinking of you at this moment, I send this to you. Sometimes life is busy and I don't always look at my spark page, so finding out I have something to see or read, brings me there.

These 5% challenges, are so much a bonus, in my life, I have connected with this attitude, for trying to lose 5% every eight weeks and I have lost at least 48 lbs, I think more, but I threw some back challenge information away, before I was a leader. So a heads up to new members, record your starting weight (first challenge someplace special you will keep, maybe add the date and the year) It will help later!

I wish everyone a very successful 5% weight off challenge! Were in it to get to a healthy weight, a better way of living life, and a happier disposition!

A special message to my Butterflies New and Pass

MAY 13, 2011, DIABETIC AFFECTS OF A HECTIC DAY

Friday, May 13, 2011

As my last blog, let you know what led to this, I will not repeat. This is more of a warning blog.

When something disruptive is happening to your day, in the life of a diabetic. Immediate plans need to be made, that was my mistake, yesterday. They came, I was not able to use my stove, my microwave or get into my refrigerator much, w/o interupting what was going on.

Here is what happened:

I ate from a cupboard I had access, to, whole grain cheese crackers, gobs, chips, granola, something every 2 hrs, then when they left at 5PM I took my glucose and was shocked it was 398 (never had it that high before) So I figured, I had to up my dose of novolog 70/30, to what I use to take when it was like 200, I took 60,
I hurried and did dishes, made whole grain spaghetti with ground sirloin and prego and slice of garlic toast, I had a cup and half of the mixture. Thinking this was like 100 grams of carbohydrates, with protein to balance it, by 7 PM my glucose was 73, I drank a cup of grape juice (40 grams carbohydrates) waited 15 minutes, next reading was 52 (should have went up) (had another cup) dropped to 45, 15 minutes later( had cup of regular pop 41 grams, went up to 109, I thought good everything will be find, 1 1/2 hours later, dropped down to 52, I was shocked, had another cup of spaghetti with meat sauce, 15 minutes after I finished this, it was 107, I thought good now I could go to bed, I was tired, I was afraid I couldn't eat anymore or drink any more, also had four life savors before actually going to bed. brought my meter in set the alarm for two hours later, it went up to 110, good for what I needed, but did not work like carbohydrates, usually work in my body. (usually 15 carbohydrates, will raise 50 pts an hour after eating/drinking them) but I was ok, I set the clock again, was up to 133, then and in the morning, 6 AM 167, I was happy. So, today, I will be on my toes and think of me, instead of what the workers have to do. They will have to work around what I need to take care of my diabetes. A lesson well learnt. Luckily my adult son was spending time, with me and was able to get me what I needed when I felt so neauseated and weak, he learned he needs to find out more about diabetes, so he knows what to do if something happens again, luckily I was able to talk, to be understood, low sugar can make verbal ability jabberish, make one confrontational, and unsteady on ones moving.

I'm okay now, thanks for listening!
Hugs Linda

Actually, Molly when I stopped and thought about it today, it means my body is working better, then I thought it was so yes I took too much. I was judging it on what it use to do when my glucose was that high in the past, and thought the same dose was necessary, but I was wrong.

Yes, I was calmer then I would have been knowing my son was there, and he did not let me know he was concerned, until after I was over what was going on, which was a good thing.

Glad to hear you are ok. That is a very frightening experience.

I only have book knowledge not life experience, The way your blood sure kept fluctuating doe this means you took too much insulin?
I am so glad you had your son there.

Have a great week end.

Glad you are ok. I have found that when I eat protein and carbs with every meal including snacks I am stable. A nutritionist tauht me that.

May 12, 2011 TIRED TONIGHT, SHORT BLOG

Thursday, May 12, 2011

Been a hectic day, with people coming in to do repairs, caused by a leak in the apartment, above mine. Mind boggling how a landland can send some one to patch and paint, before the cause of the problem is determined, then at the end of the day, the person came to see what what the problem, to discover, patching and painting was done first. Ah, so tomorrow another day, someone here, to cut holes in the ceiling, to discover the problem, then of course someone will have to come back again to patch and paint. Men!

Or is it is possibility of being able to deduct from taxes twice, are people that disorganized and run 10 complexes, on the same street? Makes me wonder.

okay I've wrote about it, now I can release it. Thanks for reading if you did
