Update on Thanksgiving 2010

Sunday, November 28, 2010

This year Spark People has been a major influence in my progress toward a better me.

I can honestly report how much better I felt this year compared to one year ago. My physical endurance is improving slowly. I was able to take on the preparation of dinner and enjoy the process. There was energy left over to enjoy the family activities too.

Thanks to all the encouragement I receive here from Spark Friends I have been able to focus on my health priorities and find strategies to help myself become a healthier person. I know I have a long road ahead of me to lose more weight and gain more strength but I feel I can do it here.

Thank you Spark Friends!

What I'm thankful for this year.

All the blessing I receive each day.

After returning to my Doctor with severe Fibromyalgia symptoms I was prescribed a three week cleanse followed by a two week drainage regimen. This is the first time I have ever seriously practiced an elimination diet and after six weeks I am very surprised in the improvement of so many of my symptoms. I understand the food plan is basically used for anyone trying to pinpoint an allergy. I will continue following the food plan but am gradually reintroducing some foods to test for sensitivities. So far I seem to be sensitive to wheat/gluten products.
Overall my mood and energy improved and I have been able to add light weights to my exercise routine. The side effect of dropping 11 pounds was a bonus too.
I will update on my progress as I continue on my goal to a return to health.

Wow, It seems that your doctor gave you a good plan. You had some great results. Yours is one of those plans, that seems to have a wonderful effect. So I understand better, you still have fibromyalgia, is that correct? But if this keeps some of those symptoms, you at least eliminate some of the pain. A great bonus was releasing the 11 pound and that is fantastic. Everything helps, to make life more comfortable. My thoughts and prayers will be with you as you continue your journey. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

I have not failed.

Saturday, August 21, 2010

"I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work." - Thomas A. Edison

Found the above quote and it reminded me of my weight loss journey.

I feel optimistic that with the help of Spark Friends my search could be over.

Thanks to all Sparkers who have been so generous with support. You are the key. emoticon

Great quote! Remember if you fall that is not failing. You only fail if you don't get back up and try again. Keep believing in your Spark friends but most of all in yourself and you will succeed. Hugs, Keke

I love the quote, I have used it so many times and it is true, But like Edison, we will find the answer. I know you will find the answer, I truly believe you can do it. You are working on it, you haven't failed and won't and you are learning that you will succeed. We are here to support that idea. Keep on keeping on.

Who's taking care of ME? Week Two

Thursday, August 12, 2010

I was able to slow down and focus on a few steps this last week. Mainly worked on my plan to get my hypoglycemia under control. Eating regularly and low glycemic has tamed my over the top appetite. I feel so much better and my mood has improved. Planning ahead so I have the right foods around me is my challenge.
I'm working in some gentle exercise. I do not want to go all out because I easily become exhausted and then have little or no energy the rest of the day.
I'm practicing stress reduction techniques and sparking everyday.
I have learned the hard way that balance is the key for me these days.

My reward was a two pound loss this week.

Planning your snacks and meals for the week ahead of time will help you. The best I can do is a day or two at a time, but even that much helps to keep me on track. I hope this helps you to feel better!
