Super Bowl Success

Had a good day. Made some healthy dips last night, and I made Italian Meatball sandwiches w/Mozz for our main dish. I weighed my cheese and meatballs. I have stayed in low calorie range and really am overly full, so I should be fine (it is still early - not even half-time). I counted out my pita chips and still have 11 to eat, plus room for a much later snack.

Got the double bed moved upstairs (my room that I had just basically spent all of early Saturday preparing for myself as a reading room), washed bedding today and room should be ready for when I get my AFS student. It is so weird because her name is Gina -- and since I'm Gena and we're both Norwegian -- this should be fun. This will make me cook more meals and have us all sit at the table (all good things).

I have Mon - Thurs. nites 6:30 - 8:30 (after work) for my quitting smoking classes, so it should be a pretty tiring week. I figured I've got to take food to work and eat dinner there before I go to class. I don't want to drive all the way home and then drive to class. So I'll have to get myself prepared and ready. There is no way I'm putting off dinner to 9:00 p.m.

    It's great that you are planning ahead. If you have healthy food with you before you to eat before class the drive-throughs won't be nearly as tempting. Good luck quitting smoking, too!

Project Saturday

Worked on bathroom wallpaper removal, worked on cleaning my reading room, hung curtains, and cooked a pot roast. Busy day. Lots to do tomorrow. I got an e-mail to see if we can host an AFS student for a few weeks so she can change houses, so now I've got an extremely busy day of moving furniture, clearing out closets, and who know what. Eating was not a problem today. Will settle down in a bit and watch Under the Tuscan Sun. I did find some recipes that we lower cal. and low fat and I made two for my husband for tomorrow. I'm going to make myself some yummy stuffed mushrooms, and have a few other legal snacks for the big game tomorrow. I think it will all work out fine. Everything is going AOK.

    Yum...mushrooms. It sounds like you'll burn off some calories just working around the house. Good for you! Enjoy the Super Bowl.

    Wow. You accomplished a lot today. Good for YOU! I am not having eating issues today either. Weird. Yesterday, I was just hungry. I guess I need to see that movie. Everyone keeps talking about it.

Now for the Weekend

Sometimes I sort of dread the weekend, not the rest, but the not pigging out. It can be hard to resist. Now we've got Super Bowl Sunday. I just ate dinner and am headed for the store for SBS snacks. I am going to get decent food, and take some time to prepare healthy snacks that I can have. We're not even a big football family, but could use that game as a snack fest with junk, so I need to be prepared with light, low fat, healthy foods. My husband and I have always been, yeah, it is Friday night so let's pig out for 2 night and 2 days. He's not overweight. So I'm making this my challenge -- to prepare lots of fun, nice and healthy and eatable by me food for the big game.

    Sunday is going to be a challenge for me as well. I even thought about changing my weigh in this week to Sunday instead of Monday, just because of Super Bowl Food. But I'm going to keep it on Monday and just hope my will-power holds out. Good luck!

Stopped when full

I had a half turkey sandwich for lunch and a cut up orange. I started eating my orange and the strangest thing happened after 4 slices.............I realized I was full. Mind you this isn't a lot of food. So, I stopped, I actually knew I was full and stopped eating. Put it back to save for the next day. It was kind of neat when I realized this. Doing well at eating at the table, but still not what I'd call slow. I think I better move on in BDS to next day, but I must continue to work on the eating slow. Tomorrow is snowy Friday, but still Friday. I'm tired of the horrid daily commute on ice each morning and am praying to see the first daffodil. I may cry when I realize it is Spring.

    Same thing here today...had a quesadilla and some veggie refried beans and just got to a point where I was like...hmmm, I am just eating to finish this but I don't need to finish it. So, I pushed it away and moved on with my water!

As my mom use to say...better WASTE than WAIST! lol

    I know exactly what you mean! It's great, isn't it. I'm still working on the eating slowly thing, too, but it is getting better. I kept going in the book, though, because I had already done the next few things. Today (making an exercise plan) is the first thing I hadn't already done besides the eating slowly and mindfully.

Chop sticks

Made healthy stir fry (tiny bit of chicken) and rice for dinner. I thought, why not use my chopsticks -- it would be a good way to slow down and concentrate on my day 5, slow & mindful eating. Worked great. So I many do this often. It is kind of fun and makes you think about getting the food in your mouth. Had a good day and back on track. We have snow coming for the next few days. I'm not use to all the snow. It is neat to walk in the fresh stuff and hear the crunch, squeek. So, all goes well. I did not get on the scale today (something I'm working on). Guess that's about all the excitement here. The weekend is getting closer and that's great.................... (I think I wish my life away waiting for the weekend to come).

    What a groovy idea! If only I could figure out how to use it. I saw that Bed Bath and Beyond has chopsticks for beginners...I should get some of those.
