Back on track

Saturday, March 09, 2013

I haven't written a blog in a while, life is very busy. It has been a very hard road just getting back on track.

I think what I really needed was a long goal. My daughter is graduating from college on Memorial Day weekend. It is so hard to believe that 4 years just flew by like a minute. I'm so proud of her as not only is she graduating, she has a job!! She has been interviewing for this job for several months and she finally got it. What a proud mom I am!!!

My son turned 17 and got a car. I can't believe I don't have to schlep him around anymore and he is becoming so independent. They are growing up so fast it takes my breath away!

I also have a wedding to go to in June. My entire family will be there and I can't wait!

Having a goal is making sticking to my plan easier. When I reach those milestones, I will get future goals so I can keep going.

It's a plan :)

My Son!

Sunday, January 13, 2013

17 years ago today I delivered a squalling, 6 lb. bundle of adorableness!!!

Here in New York it was right in the middle of the "blizzard of the century!". There was so much snow that we had the fire department and the police department on alert in case we couldn't get to the hospital. I was a nervous wreck!!!

It has never been easy. Josh was really a handful and, well, still is but honestly he is a wonderful child and I feel blessed that he is mine!

It's been a wild ride but oh, so worth it. Happy birthday to my wonderful son Joshua. You are one of the reasons that make life worth living and one of the reasons for gray hair!! I love you sooooo much!!!

I'm Back!!!!

Wednesday, December 12, 2012

I have just returned from Israel this morning. I can't write a whole lot because I'm trying to just get my thoughts together.

This wasn't a trip. It was a journey!! 162 women who said, if the Israeli's can live with what's going on, I can go there and support them.

I learned so much, I have so much to sort out in my mind but if anyone is considering going, please, please go!!

I went with a group of incredible women from the JWRP, or Jewish Women's Renaissance Project. If any of you have children at home under the age of 18, you may be eligible. Look it up, apply, it's amazing!! I will be posting over the next few days when I can see straight. I'm very tired as I just lost 7 hours of time!! Since I have to work tomorrow, I'm going slow but trying to stay awake!!

Wishing you all a happy Channukah. You haven't celebrated this holiday until you can share it with some Israeli soldiers who are far away from home.

I am changed forever.

I have wanted to visit Israel, but haven't been able to so far. I'm not Jewish, but can relate. Plus, I think it would be life-changing for me as well.

I honestly fear for Israelis survival and I pray every day for them. I fear that our government will throw them under the bus. God help them, please.

I'm leaving today!!

Sunday, December 02, 2012

Just a note to say goodby to everyone for a couple of weeks! I'm leaving today to go to Israel. I'm so excited.

We have a group where I live called the Jewish Woman's Renaissance Project. It provides free trips to Israel if you qualify. It has taken nearly a year, interviews, forms etc but alas I qualified and off I go. This is a dream come true. If you are Jewish and want to do this you can go to their website and see if you qualify. They are all over the world!! (you do need to have a child living with you under the age of 18)

Because of a (current) bitter divorce, without this I would never have been able to go. I promise to report back when I return. I know it will be enlightening in oh, so many ways!!

See you all in a couple of weeks!!!

Have a wonderful trip!!! I was supposed to go when I was 18 but there was some sort of violence, and my parents and grandparents freaked out. I went on a teen tour to Europe instead, which admittedly was a pretty good alternative. However, I never did make it to Israel, and I doubt I ever will (just turned 60). As a Jew, albeit a lapsed one, I feel your excitement. Can't wait to hear about it when you get back!!!!

I got to see the movie "Lincoln" today. A truly incredible movie. It's a little long, a little preachy but all in all quite a production. The cast is superb and there is a lot that most people just don't know about the 13th amendment. I give it a thumbs up and say go. It's an "experience"

I feel like I got a bit of an education today. This movie will stay with me for quite a while. Not just for the content, but the acting of these amazing icons of theater made it very special.

I love the movies and go often. Most of the time it's Hollywood entertainment but today was more of a learning experience.

We're hoping to see the captioned version at the theater!! So glad to hear it is a good movie!! We went to his memorial and to the Holocaust Memorial museum when we had our honeymoon in Washington DC in 1995. Hope to go back again to take our son there.

So excited to hear about your trip to Israel! I'm waiting for the blog on that one, already!!
