Dr. Oz!

Saturday, November 10, 2012

A couple of weeks ago I got an email from The Dr. Oz show telling me I had tickets. I had completely forgotten I requested them, I think, last year!

I was thrilled. Called my bestie Dawn and off we went yesterday. Dawn has been on the "Wheat Belly" diet for over a year. She lost 75 lbs on this and looks amazing. Down to a size two!!

We had no idea what the show was going to be about but got there early, got great seats and lo and behold, the show was about Wheat Belly! Dawn almost fell over.

We had a great time, got to watch how things work on the show and at the end of the show they; had questions and answers. Dawn stood up and told Dr. Oz (and the audience) how she had lost her weight thanks to "Wheat Belly" and was so grateful that she got her life back. She even got choked up about it.

We had so much fun I think I will request tickets to go see it again.

I don't know when this episode airs, but will let everyone know when I find out!!!

Sandy!!!!!

Monday, November 05, 2012

I am finally back online. The hurricane Sandy took it's toll on our state (NY) and my area was hard hit. It is still considered an emergency area. After over a week of no power, no lights, no heat, it finally came on today.

What an ordeal. I had to wear lots of clothes, pull on blankets around me and sleep in a room that was the same temperature as outside.

I am so grateful that I now have power and light and warmth. We are expecting a nor'easter to come in on Wed. that may bring snow.

Hope I can regroup by then!!

Fantastic news!

Thursday, October 25, 2012

Great news. I didn't tell anyone but over the past year I've been on lots of meds because after endoscopy last year I was found to have a gastric ulcer, Hiatal Hernia and the possibility of Esophageal cancer. It's been a long year. Today was my follow-up endoscopy and YAY!! Gastric ulcer....gone, hiatal hernia not growning and looking very "average" and the best news is no sign of any esophageal cancer and it may have healed enough to where it's doubtful I will ever get it!!! I'm sooooooo happy!!!

I don't even have to go back for 2 years!!

So Frustrating!

Friday, October 19, 2012

This has been a very good week in terms of eating right and getting in some exercise. As a matter of fact I am about to get on my treadmill....again!

I have not gone over my calories once this week. I have walked everywhere I could and the good news is that my clothes feel just a bit looser.

My weigh in day is usually Sunday. This keeps me on the straight and narrow over the weekend.

Yesterday, I was feeling so pleased I got on the scale just to see how I was doing and.....yup, UP half a pound!!! Grrrrrrrrrrr, how annoying is that!!!

I had had some turkey the night before that was a little salty so I am hoping that was the problem. I am not going to weigh myself again until Sunday but I really had hoped for a good drop!!

Darn :(

Thanks for your comment on my blog. Yes, maybe salt is slowing both of us down. I had some ham and bean soup the other day, and it was home made, but very salty. Don't give up! Maybe we can both watch our salt this week. And I'm going to try to up the intensity of my cardio just a little bit. Somethings gotta give!

I saw in your bio that you live in a sleepy town 45 minutes from NYC. I live in a sleepy town 1.45 from NYC, down in NJ, close to the beach.

Maybe it is just water retention. We'll hope so. Just keep at the good stuff.

You sound so determined, hopefully Sunday will show you the loss you are deserving of! :) Half a pound isn't too bad, could be the salt in the turkey, I'm sure that will shift! It could be extra weight from muscle you are building up from your exercise :) If your clothes are looser, that's the key thing showing you that what you are doing is working :) Well done so far!

An incredibly wonderful day!!

Thursday, September 27, 2012

The past week has been tough. Last week I went for my yearly mammogram. Two days later they called me and said they couldn't read the "left" as well as they wanted to so could I come back in a.s.a.p.

My heart was in my throat. In '09 I had the same thing happen to me. Then it was several times to go back, biopsy and then surgery. I was one of the lucky ones as it came back as benign. The Dr. did say that he was glad it came out because he felt that eventually, that would have turned into cancer.

With heavy heart I returned today for a new round of mammograms and a sonogram. After my mammogram I looked at the film and saw a big white mass. Then, during the sonogram I saw a big, black mass. The wouldn't let me leave until I saw the Dr. I was sweating!

The doctor came in and said that she had checked my last years film and compared it to this year and apparently a cyst that I had was a bit bigger but...she is sure it is a cyst and all I have to do is come back in 6 months.

Whew!! I had everything sent to all my various doctors but I feel like the weight of the world is off my shoulders!!

Hooray!! If you haven't gotten your mammogram this year TO GET IT!! It could mean your life!!

I am so thankful, so very thankful!!

Glad they are monitoring, but should you really wait 6 months? What if it isn't "just a cyst?"
