Sleep!!!

I am a horrible sleeper. I have been for most of my adult life. I sometimes don't go to sleep until 1 or 2 am and am usually up by 6:15 to get my son off to school and leave for work by 7.

Thursday is almost always my day off. I have arranged for my son to stay at his dads on Wed. night so I can sleep late the next day. I have been getting more exercise this week (which I know helps me sleep at night) but had a hard time sleeping Wed. night. Unfortunately, on Thursday morning I was awakened early by a phone call. I just have been dragging since then.

Last night I went to bed at 11. I took my allergy meds and some Motrin because my hip was bothering me and I SLEPT!! I didn't get up until just after 9! For me, that amazing.

I feel a lot better today. I will try and walk later, after my sons game. I know the key is exercise so I am going to try and stick with that.

Hope everyone's weekend is just great. It's beautiful weather around here. Perfect for being outdoors!!

    Good for you. Sleep is so important but I tell myself that my body gets the sleep it wants so stop worrying about it . Each person is different.

    I hope you get some sleep. Try to get some exercise in along with strength training and that should do the trick. Part of going through menopause is insomnia, so mention it to the doctor if the exercise doesn't help. You have to get some rest, we do not want you getting any luggage under those pretty eyes. I had to learn the hard way not to be packed, LOL!

Less not necessarily better

I woke up this morning not feeling well. I was a little dizzy and felt exhausted. I thought, "Uh oh, something's not right." I came downstairs to make my coffee and realized I was starving. That's unusual for me because no matter how hard I try, I'm just not much of a morning eater.

After signing on to Spark People I looked at my tracker and realized that I had only eaten about 700 calories yesterday. OMG, that's not good. Somehow, I had forgotten to eat. Now, in my life I have forgotten to go to the bank, forgotten to pick up the dry cleaning but never, NEVER have I forgotten to eat!!

I grabbed some cottage cheese and afterward felt a bit better. I know enough to know that it isn't a good thing to starve oneself. It only makes weight loss slow up!!! I haven't gotten on the scale and might not until Sunday, my weigh in day.

It's so good to track what I eat. It really keeps me focused and on track.

Finally!

I have been trying to get out and walk whenever possible. Today was such a beautiful day I knew that I just had to go.

I went over to the lake and decided to really push it. It's just a tad over 3 miles around. I have been doing this in about a 17 minute mile but that's not as good as last year.

Today I tried to kick it up just a notch. The last mile I would jog for about 10 seconds then walk really fast for about a minute, then jog then walk. When I got back around to my car I had done the lake in a 15 minute mile!!!

Hooray!!!!!! I really wanted to get back to doing the 15 minute mile. I feel so good about it and know that I have really revved up my metabolism.

I'm actually looking forward to doing that again!!!!!!!!

A little more centered

The scale moved this week. Finally. Not a whole lot but hey, a pound is a pound. I am still a little frustrated as I haven't even lost the weight I had gained during the Passover holiday. I still have 3 more lbs to go and then the next 25!!

I have to admit that it is starting to get a little easier. I am able to track and stay on my plan a bit better. I have just a tad more energy and this is a very good thing. It spurs me on because I remember how much energy I had when I lost all the weight before.

Of course, this is a double edged sword. I still get angry at myself for gaining so much weight back but not as much as before. I keep telling myself what's done is done and there is nothing more than what I am doing now that can be done about it.

Hopefully, it is a lesson learned. I am not on track in terms of where I thought I would be at this date but oh well, I'm still going in the right direction.

    What's important is that you have the determination to beat your plateau. Stay active and also consider speaking with your doctor to make sure that everything is in order. I'm being checked for a possible underactive thyroid. The power of hormone inbalance is so underated. We haved to stay on top of what's really happening with our bodies.

I have been having the best day!

First, my great friend Dawn gave me three hours with a personal organizer for my birthday (last year). I finally got around to calling her and she came over yesterday and we worked on my paperwork and wow, I feel like a new woman. I got up today to a neat table. Now I have some new skills that will really help me not get stressed about paying bills and keeping records. Dawn is the best!

Then today, my son asked if he could come with me to my walk at the lake. He wanted me to join him as he practiced throwing the discus. I loved having him with me and we found a great place to practice. He would throw it and I would run after it and see the distance. I got a great workout and had so much fun with my son it really was a pleasure! It didn't even feel like exercise!!

When we got home there was flowers waiting for me from my two kids for Mother's day. They were beautiful!!

Then my daughter called from college to tell me about the formal she is going to next week. The great part is she has a date!! That means that the "old" boyfriend is truly finished and done with. HOORAY!! (he was really bad news).

Now, I'm getting ready to take my son to his baseball game.

Great day...really great day!!

    This is great news on several fronts--I'm so glad the organizer worked out. She's great, right? Also glad the old boyfriend is history!!! And of course, wonderful that you got to spend quality time with Joshua. Happy Mother's Day!
