Josh does it again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My son has once again blown away the competition!!
As some of you know he's a great wrestler, fantastic baseball player, incredible golfer but, just a couple of weeks ago he decided to join the track and field team. Ummm, ok, why not? He goes to practice, oh I don't know, maybe half dozen times. Misses the first meet because he had a baseball game.
Yesterday was his first meet. I meet him at the field and I expected him to be running and doing the long jump which was what he told me he was going to do. He tells me, "Na, I'm going to run the 440 and then I'm going to do discus throwing."
Huh?? Discus throwing. "Have you ever done that before?"
He replied, "No, but I can do it. Doesn't look all that hard."
First comes the race. It was with 5 other local schools. He comes in second. We were very happy with that and would have stopped there but no, on to discus throwing.
We stood and watched for a while as some of the kids were taking warm up throws. OMG, that thing is heavy and some of the kids were huge. Naturally, Josh says he doesn't want a warm up, he'll just wing it.
The first really big kid goes and he throws it 64 feet!! Wow, that's really far. Each kid gets 2 tries and I figured this kid was going to be hard to beat. Finally, Josh gets up for his first try. His focus was outstanding. He sets and throws.........................90 feet!! Yup, 90 feet on the nose. Everyone was dumbfounded!!! (especially his mom!)
He was happy and just took it in stride. Now everyone goes again. The other kids pretty much matched what they had done the first time but not Josh. No, Josh decided to amp it up and sets and throws...........104.4 feet!!! OMG! They didn't have a measuring tape long enough to measure it. He may have broken some kind of record at the school and the kicker is HE NEVER DID THIS BEFORE!!
Every modicum of athletic gene in the gene pool of both sides of his parents went into Josh. He just shrugged it off and said, "See, I told you it wasn't hard. I'm hungry."
Gotta love that kid!!!!!!!!!!!
I apologize if I am bragging to much about my son. I am so proud of him and sometimes he is what keeps me going day in and day out.
