Health Fair

So there was a health fair @ work today... NOT GOOD!!

Cholesterol high, blood pressure high, BMI through the roof ... I had never had my cholesterol checked so that was a real eye opener.

Bright notes - my sugar was good, no skin cancer, and I got all kinds of freebies :) (I'm a sucker for that stuff!)

I'd appreciate any advise you all have on how to lower my cholesterol this is a whole new challenge for me.

    What worked for me is:
1. getting a good cardio workout in at least 3x week for 60 minutes. I did Walk Away the Pound videos at home at first, when I couldn't get outside to walk. Elliptical machine at the gym after that, then I tried a zumba class, and got hooked. I teach it now, 4.5 years later, and also run.
2. Cut out processed foods if you can, or really really work on reducing them from your diet. Try to eat foods as close to their natural source as possible; fruits, veggies, lean meats, nuts.

Summer Break

In January I went back to school as a result of the NAFTA trade program to get an Accounting degree. I currently have a Business management degree but since I was laid off I haven't been able to find a job with equivalent compensation.

The class work is all online and very challenging for me. (I havne't taken the principal classes for over 10 years) I am working full-time and going to school full-time and I have let this schooling consume all my time - neglecting my health & wellness.

Thankfully - I'm on a 4 week break!! woot woot!! I'm planning on using this time to establish some healthy habits that hopefully I can maintain once school resumes. :)

I would love to look and feel great by graduation in the spring!

Biggest Loser Challenge: Post 3 Ways I Manage Stress

Three ways I manage stress during the holidays and otherwise:

1.) Prayer/Meditation - Whenever I feel overwhelmed I love to pour my heart out to God. Just the time alone venting my frustration gives me relief!

2.) Hot Bath- Nothing like a good soak in the tub to drown tension.

3.) I'm a huge believer in everything/everyone has a place and everything/everyone should be in its place. I'm highly organized and many times stress is created by disorganization. If I start feeling stressed out I I take a look at what is "out-of-place" in my life and quickly work to put that thing back in order. I don't let other people's struggles dictate my happiness. I remind myself that we are all a "work-in-progress" and I quickly forgive and move on.

So busy since Thanksgiving...

I have been insanely busy and not able to log as much as I would like. I finally landed a decent full-time job since the plant closure in 2011 last week.

I will be going back to school starting January 7th to complete a BA in Accounting free and clear through a TAA contract.

and most importantly...

I start a Biggest Loser Challenge tomorrow. Go Indigo's!!!!

Not weighing myself for awhile!

Okay so here is the deal. I'm struggling. I started out the gate doing decent. I was averaging about 3 lbs a week. Now I'm 12 weeks into this and the last 2 weeks - nothing I haven't lost one single solitary pound.

The worst part is that everytime (which is like twice daily) I get on the scale and don't see any change I eat and its not clean eating. So I'm boycotting the scales. I'm putting them away for for a week and just focus on how much better I feel since losing 25lbs.
