Breaking a bad habit

Friday, February 21, 2014

One of the challenges for BLC this weekend is to work on breaking a bad habit. Sadly I'm a smoker, I won't even count the times I've tried to quit. A month ago I moved out of my large house into a 1 bedroom apartment with a nice deck. I decided I would only smoke outside, then we had a huge snow storm for Portland and it was really cold. Pretty soon I was smoking inside again. So that's the bad habit I will be working on this weekend, with long tern thoughts of trying to quit again.

I quit in 1999 and have not gone back except once and that was 1 cigarette on 1 day! One thing that helped was to only smoke outside and that meant no matter what the weather was. I know you can do it! HOw did it go?

You got this! I quit 09/07 and it was the most stressful time of my life when I did but when a 6 yr old going to tell me" please stop smoking my mom went to jail and I don't want you to go to jail"------ a lightbulb went off in my head and I never went back,
That little 6yr old was my great niece tha I took in( and her brother)t is now my adopted daughter.
Best wishes and one day at a time!

PLease, please quit smoking. I am watching it kill my beloved Aunt that has had 2 open heart surgery. Talk to your doctor there is medicine to help!

Thank you all for your support. I quit for 11 months about 6 years ago, it wasn't hard as I had found something inside me that wanted it. Then something played with my mind. I now understand what drug and alcohol addicts go through. I'm still looking for that "something" inside me. Those TV ads about what smoking does to the environment is helping.

My new home

Saturday, January 25, 2014

I spent my first night here a week ago today. What a crazy week it's been! Today I went back to the old house and packed up a bunch of more needed stuff. Downsizing is hard.

I had a lazy morning just enjoying the place. I had my first bird sighting at the suet block yesterday and today there were 2 hummers at the feeder.

I'm a happy camper!

It's so good to hear that you are settling in to your new place. I know how much work it is to move and downsizing would mean even more! Good luck. At least it's a great opportunity to simplify and declutter! emoticon

Best of everything to you in your new home.
I hate downsizing and my DH wants me to do it again. I guess I get too attached to my "stuff".
Have a great Sunday.

I'm glad that you are happy in your new place! I enjoy watching birds, though most of ours are huddling somewhere against the cold right now. We need to get our feeder back out, but the squirrels get more than the birds.

BLC Challenge

Monday, October 28, 2013

One of the BLC weekend challenges was to plan your meals for the week and blog about it. I'm not a huge meal planner as I tend to eat what sounds good at the moment.

I eat breakfast when I get to work that is usually yogurt, TJ's high fiber cereal and fruit. Today I bought bananas and pineapple. Still have a few apples left in the fridge also. (sometimes that's desert with some cheese)

I made a big pot of spaghetti sauce yesterday that was also lunch today. There's enough left for several meals, probably lunches.

Later in the week I'm going to make split pea soup, some of which will go in the freezer for later meals. I have some avocados that need to be eaten so lunch tomorrow is BBQ pork and avocado.

I also bought asparagus and cabbage at the store today. The other weekend challenge was to fix a new veggie or an old one a new way. Tonight I'm going to grill the asparagus with a little sesame oil (it's not new but I usually steam it to go with some pork tenderloin from the freezer.

So that's it, challenge points earned!
