Early phone call starts the day

Tuesday, March 30, 2010

An automated message from the sherrif's dept. at 5AM. Wide awake, start planning for a great day! It's going to be a busy one, best to get in some good meals, not hurried ones. Dinner at the neighbor's tonight will be hot dogs, etc. I'm bringing fruit salad so I have a good choice in front of me. My other meals will be healthy and not high in sodium to make up for the dog later. Nice to watch a sunrise, get my computer work done early, do some chores before the day actually starts.

Rain, spring cleaning

Sunday, March 28, 2010

So it's raining outside, can't do any more yardwork. Time for a little spring cleaning. Both daughters are on their own, yet we still store a few items here for them. Time for some to go! A large triple dresser will soon make its way to a daughter who needs more storage. Hmmm, I've been storing a few things in those drawers - better find new places to put them or get rid of stuff!
Just like my life, I've been storing extra pounds, time to get rid of them.

Yardwork is a two way benefit

Saturday, March 27, 2010

I trimmed the dead branches of my night blooming cereus. It took a big hit this cold winter we had. Sure hope it lives to bloom again this summer! I trimmed other dead plants, picked up leaves, weeded a LOT. I realized that this is the cleaning up time of my yard, time too for me to clean up my act as well. Time for me to bloom again. I've buried myself inside for far too long and I want to enjoy what the world has to offer. Look out, I'm ready!

I have been working out in my yard most of the week.
I have been cutting tree limbs and brush, clearing up about 1/2 an acre so I can plant a new garden spot.

I hope your flowers make it..it sure is pretty. emoticon

Through Thick and Thin

Thursday, March 25, 2010

As a married couple, we've been through thick and thin together.....thin was a long time ago!'

Very true, and most of my goals to lose weight have focused on achieving my former weight. Frankly, after 32 years of marriage, things change - I need to focus on being healthy not my 'wedding weight'. This time around, hubby dear is joining my goals. We are going to the fitness center together and choosing better at our meals.

IT HELPS TO HAVE SOMEONE WORKING WITH YOU. MY HUSBAND HAS BEEN TEACHING ME TENNIS. MY MIDDLE NAME SHOULD HAVE BEEN GRACE, BUT I'M REALLY ENJOYING IT. I STILL WANT TO GET TO MY WEDDING WEIGHT. I WAS NEVER SKINNY, SO IT'S JUST HEALTHY WEIGHT FOR ME.

Committed to trying again

Wednesday, March 24, 2010

Yes, this is another effort on my part to lose weight. I've had a bad setback with spasms in my lower back. These keep me from exercising (yeah, yeah, exercising my EXCUSES is easier!). Time to take charge of my health in many directions. I'll be getting a yearly physical soon. Bloodwork will likely show high cholesterol. Seems to be a family trait, no matter my diet or exercise. So statin drugs - here I come! I will be moving toward a more 'plant-based' diet. Wish me luck!
