All I could do was laugh...

Wednesday, August 03, 2011

This morning as I was starting to do my Wii Fit, I got bored of it I decided to go for a walk. I hadn't showered yet, but with the heat and humidity I decided that it was pointless to take a shower before the walk since I'd be all sweaty by the time I was done walking. So I put on some walking clothes (one's that I wouldn't normally wear out in public) and headed out. It was relatively early, so I figured there wouldn't be anyone around to see how icky I looked. I was wrong...I ran into 5 different neighbors that were out heading to work. I was thinking "Really?? Any other time I don't see them, but today when I look all sweaty with bed head, I run into them" All I could do was laugh and think to myself at least I'm out there doing it.

I love the feature on here that lets you map your route. I never knew before how far I walked when I walked around the I can see exactly how far I've walked. Today it was about 1 1/2 miles. Now I'm going to set a goal to increase it. :o)

As my dad used to say...

"sometimes you just gotta slap your knee and laugh"

I am glad you could find humor in your walk. And congrats on making a new challenge in your walking routine.

You know they probably thought 'on look at them getting in their exercise. I should do that.' At least that is what I would think! Good job for getting it done early and with the heat!

I find it liberating when people seem me for what I realy am. It takes a lot of pressure/expectation off for me and even more so when I see others on their "off" mode.

Reality bites...

Tuesday, August 02, 2011

A few weeks ago I went to the Dr for an issue I was having with swallowing. While I was there I was sent for bloodwork since it had been awhile since I had it done. I was always a firm believer of "If it's not broke, don't fix it"...if I wasn't sick, I didn't go to the Dr. I went from not taking any medication, to now taking 6 pills a day. Boy was that a reality check! So now it's time to get serious about my health. I turn 40 in a couple months, so I want to make some big changes before then. Quit smoking, lose weight, and get my blood pressure and cholesterol down. I don't want to be a slave to medications forever!

Boy what a reality check! At least fore-warned is fore-armed... you have the knowledge now of what you need to do to get and stay healthy. Give yourself a big pat on the back for taking THAT step.
