no more emotional eating

Wednesday, May 18, 2011

Being the mother of teenage boys takes more patience than I have most days. Today was one of those days. Instead of eating when I wasn't hungry, I went to the library. Now it's after 9:00 and I need to eat a small dinner. Hope eating this late doesn't become habit.

Great idea to distract yourself - it certainly helps keep you from stress eating.

Way to go on distracting yourself! Great job! I struggle with emotional eating too. Sometimes it is so tough but I find if you distract yourself with something it helps! Keep it up!

I was SO hungry today

Sunday, November 15, 2009

I was so hungry that I cheated. I ate some pretzel chips. I'm glad they were in individual serving packs or I would have eaten the whole bag. Good thing I didn't have any candy in the house. When I looked back through my journal I realized it was the same exact day in round one that I went off protocol. Last time it was chips, watermelon & cherries.

I wonder if it is because TOM is due that I couldn't resist a treat.

The Simeons HCG protocol is a VERY unhealthy approach to weight loss. It is good that you "cheated" and gave your body what it needed.

SparkPeople does NOT approve of the HCG diet. That is why they made the HCG groups invisible to the public.. Yes, the weight might come off fast, but no one knows the long term consequences of keeping your calorie level so low and forcing your body to live off stored fat for so long. Please read this article and at least consider getting off this dangerous diet plan.

I was DEFINITELY more hungry with TOM coming up, and the end of my round. My tummy would sit there and rumble, and I just drank more. I think I had an extra baked apple one night.

You are doing awesome! Don't sweat it!

You are doing so well and your losses are great! It happens. It is rather interesting that this happened at the exact same time last round....... Hang in there .... you must be excited to be so much closer to your goal!

Instead of eating all day I read recipe books

Saturday, November 14, 2009

I'm planning a big Thanksgiving dinner. I'll be in P3 and I am having many of my neighbors over. I am planning on offering buffet style healthy options. Not everything is completely carb-free. Here is the menu. If you want me any of the recipes, let me know. (So far none of my guests want turkey or stuffing, so I won't be making it, but if you want my recipe for an easy no-fail turkey or my fruit & nut stuffing, I am willing to share.)

Three sisters soup (black bean, butternut squash & corn)
Spinach Strawberry Banana Salad
Caramelized tofu w/ shredded brussels sprouts
Pumpkin Ravioli
Twice Stuffed Baked Sweet Potatoes
Thai Quinoa
Garlic haricots verts amandine
Party Popping Trail Mix
Grapefruit Brulee
Caramel Pumpkin Pudding Cupcakes

i am also having a spritzer bar. I'll have plenty of seltzer (club soda) on hand. The kids are going to skewer berries, grapes and citrus wedges onto toothpicks.

For centerpieces, I am going to get some trays of wheat grass and insert wedges of apple, melon, etc sticking up out of the grass.

Am I forgetting anything?

    I hate to cook.
My husband volunteers at the hospital on Tuesday mornings and he told them he'd volunteer on Thanksgving if they needed him, so looks like I'll join him for T'day Dinner, since he gets a pass for a FREE lunch each time he volunteers. LOL

Keeping on keeping on

Friday, November 13, 2009

I am happy to report that I had a .4 lb loss this morning. I had "burger crumbles" as my protein for both lunch and dinner.

Friday is grocery shopping day. I forgot to eat before going to the store and the smells were just driving me crazy. I had considered getting fried chicken for the kids to eat for dinner, but then I decided I may not be able to resist and start eating it on the way home. So it is still in the store. I'm making ginger garlic tilapia and spinach & strawberry salad for dinner instead.

Friday night dinner is always a big deal, so I want a meal that we will all eat as a family. I'll probably add a course of miso soup. I'll add pasta to the kids soup & miracle noodles to mine.

Getting hungry just thinking about it. I guess it's time to make lunch.

It's easy for me to resist the samples when they are cooking them there in the store, because I know it isn't kosher. However, when they were passing out samples of Pirate Booty, I had to avoid that aisle. I didn't even go by the table for the coupons to use later.

Way to stay strong at the store!!! I can look at any food and not have a problem but once I get a whiff of it I have the hardest time resisting! What is it about the smells?

I am so glad to see others sitting down to family time too. Eating at the table...all of us...is a big thing here too. It takes work to make it happen but it sure is worth it.

You did great by knowing your temptations and leaving the chicken behind!

Have a great weekend!

i just can't do this anymore!

Wednesday, November 11, 2009

I've said it before, so most of you already know that I am not a huge fan of eating meat, chicken & fish. Each morning when I see the scale giving me a lower number or the tape measure closing further around any section of my body, I was able to eat another filet of fish or another breast of chicken. No longer.

Last round, I lost consistantly for the first 12 days and then was pretty much stalled for the remainder of the round. This time around I lost every day for the first 10 days. Then I had a 4 day gain/stall. Lost a pound & now I am stalled again.

It took me 2 hours to choke down my fish fillet for lunch and the thought of any more fish or chicken turns my stomach. I just can't eat this much dead animal.

I am not giving up on hcg by any means, I just need to make a change. Something has to give before I break down and kill someone just to eat a mixed salad w/ some beans.

I am going to do an experiment tonight. I am taking 1/3 c of Lightlife Smart Ground (fake ground meat made from soy) as my protein. It has 70 calories, 0 total fat, 6 g of Total Carbs, 3 g of Fiber, less than 1 g of sugar, and 12 g of protein.

I am going to dice up some grape tomatoes, onion, fresh basil & garlic. Throw it in a pan with the smart ground. Sprinkle on a dash of chili powder & cumin. Squeeze 1/2 a lime over it and serve it over Miracle Noodles.

If I have a gain tomorrow, then I will just have an apple day and then go back to eating dead animal, but for tonight I dine!

wow, I am with you!! I am on Day #5 of VLCD and the thought of meat nauseates me!! And I like meat! I had boiled eggs yesterday, which I thought was the best meal yet, only to wake up with only a .2 weight loss (still down a total of 7.8 already though!!) I tried some recipes for chicken salad & chili last night, both of which I thought was horrible! I really don't know how I am going to make it...if you can't even stand the thought of the food that you're allowed, what do you do????

I get sick of eggs pretty quickly, so I haven't done that. My dr suggested plain cottage cheese or plain yogurt, but I have heard of people not losing while eating yogurt.
