Rock-tober Challenge

Saturday, October 01, 2011

This month I have joined a challenge, which I haven't done in a while but I think is just what I need to get my butt in gear. emoticon
Since my wonderful 4 lbs lose 2 weeks ago I have since gained 1.4lbs back. I'm not worried too much about this since it's my TOM but still don't like when the scale goes the wrong way. emoticon emoticon
So my goals during this challenge are:
*7-8 Hours of Sleep Last Night

*get back to the gym in the morning before work

*bag lunch for work

*Healthy Vegan eating 90% of the time

*5-7 Fruits/Veggies

*8-10 glasses of water

*30-45 mins workout on average everyday, goal is 1000 fitness minutes this month

*10 min meditation daily

*NO Eating past 8PM

*eat between 1200-1400 calories per day

*Weigh-In every Saturday

Who's with me! Lets rock this month!

Tale from the scale- Week one results

Sunday, September 18, 2011

Well after a week of eating about 90% vegan the result........ I lost 4 pounds!!! emoticon emoticon emoticon
I am sticking with the meal plan that I found at Feel Goods Café, even though I am a pretty picky eater I loved every meal that they prepared for me. That in itself is amazing!
My workouts could have been better this week, honestly only got in one day of yoga when the goal was 3-4. This week should be quieter at work so I will have plenty of time to get those in after work.
I also have a gym where I work so I will be getting up early and going there before work begins 3 times this week to get my cardio workouts in. emoticon emoticon emoticon
All in all I am very happy with my week one results. Looking forward to week two! emoticon

Tale from the scale - day one in review

Tuesday, September 13, 2011

Totals: 1,211 134 55 37
I would have to say that the first day of my new diet/exercise plan was both a success and a challenge.
Eating 100% vegan was a success. emoticon I picked up my meals from the local café and had that for lunch and dinner last night. Yum! emoticon emoticon emoticon
The workout plan, however is going to have to change. I had planned to workout with my trainer friend at lunchtime. He invites anyone who wants to come workout with him and unfortunately the one person I do not get along with at work started working out with him recently. It shouldn't matter but whatever I seem to do around this particular person comes back to bite me in the end so it's not worth it.
Instead I'll be working out on my own doing my Jillian Michael's dvds. The 30 day shred and Boost your Metabolism. I will still be doing yoga 3-4 days a week also. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
emoticon was a success, instead of giving up or making an excuse when I came to my first obstacle I just found another way.
On to day 2.....

Finding balance on the scale

Sunday, September 11, 2011

It has been months since my last blog, since my last weigh in, since I was consistent with my working out and eating vegan. I've been asking myself, what happened to your motivation? On a daily basis lately. My focus these past few months has been quitting smoking emoticon nothing else seemed as important.
But this afternoon I stepped on the scale for the first time since May, and guess what I found. MOTIVATION!! I'm not back to my heaviest weight like when I first began Spark but I am too close for comfort.
I called up a local Café that prepares vegan meals and joined their monthly meal plan. They will be preparing my lunch and dinner 4 days a week, with portion controlled meals. This is very convenient for me, between work and school and getting in those very necessary workouts I won't have to think about what I'm going to eat and end up making the wrong choices because it's quick and easy. And at $8 a meal I really can't beat it! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
So I have a plan for the food issue. Now for the workouts! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
I have spoken to the personal trainer I used to work with and he is so happy that I'll be returning to the gym, I know I have someone by my side that will push me to my limits and encourage me when I want to quit. He's no longer my personal trainer but he's willing to workout with me a few days a week at work during our lunch hour. The challenge for me here will be to block out my calendar for lunch and not end up working or being booked for meetings.
A few evenings a week I have found a few yoga studios that are giving classes that fit my work/school schedule. I am currently planning for 2 hot yoga classes and 2 regular yoga classes each week. With this plan I will be working out six days a week, either with my friend or in a yoga class.
I know how much blogging has helped me in the past, just writing down my goals and posting my achievements sustains my motivation. I'll be posting my successes each week. emoticon for reading and your encouragement

Deb~ What a great blog and what fantastic goals!! I am motivated just reading your blog and feeling your energy and excitement! I think buying your lunch and dinner for $8.00 is well worth it! I would consider doing the same for that price. You are right too, with your schedule this is going to be great! I am looking forward to future blogs and your progress!I know you can do it, you are emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

In a fog

Monday, May 16, 2011

OK so one of the well known side effect from quitting smoking is lack of concentration, and boy was that true today! I have been in my current position at my job for eight years now and today seemed like my first day, I was deleting rows from my spreadsheets when I should have been sorting them, putting the wrong dates on things (2010!) it was annoying but I think the worst is when I spend 5 minutes walking around looking for a conference room I've been in 1000 times before. emoticon
I do have some good news to report, other than I didn't smoke today emoticon. I also stayed within my calorie range for the first day since I quit. emoticon and I kept to the Engine 2 diet guidelines. This made me so happy.
Taking little steps at a time, still hoping to make it to the gym tomorrow morning before work. I hope I feel better when I wake up tomorrow than i did today, I was completely exhausted even though I slept with the patch off last night. I will pack my gym bag before bed tonight and see how I feel in the morning.
All in all not a bad day 3. emoticon

I had to give up all alcohol because of a medication I take. Granted, I was never an alcoholic and never had an alcohol addiction, however I'm surprised just how much I miss a glass of wine after a stressful day.

I know it's hard. I've never been a smoker, but my experience with alcohol shows me that it's not easy giving up any habit, no matter how seemingly unimportant or insignificant. I can't have alcohol as long as I'm on this med.

I'm also going to Vegas in August, so won't be able to have those poolside drinks. I'll be ordering Shirley Temples! LOL!

Now I go all day w/out a Smoke , No Problemo...When I crack a BrewSki... Ignition in 3,2,1...

Good Luck..
