The best thing...

Thursday, May 20, 2010

I ask all of you to wish me The Best Thing
My job is ending and I live in an area with 12.9% unemployment
I'm scared but I'll figure it out. I will be OK.
Please, all of you, wish me the BEST THING--give it up to the universe and let it come back. I need your help.
Deep Breath.

Reverse Portion Distortion?

Wednesday, March 10, 2010

So, since I'm in the 2nd section of the Fast Break I decided that I should take the advice and start measuring items I had been just "eyeballing", imagine my surprise to find that I had been UNDERestimating nearly everything I ws eating. What I was calling a Tbsp of peanut butter was really about 1/2 as much and when I actually weighed mat portions they were also about 1/2. No wonder I've been hungry! I guess I need to measure things for a while just so I can get the amount of calories I am logging. :)

That's pretty funny. I had very much the opposite problem... but I've been measuring for so long that now it's kind of second nature. That's great though!

After about a month on SP, my husband got me a food scale. I realized that I was under-eating in a lot of areas, and glad to know I could eat a little more, because to be honest, I was often hungry! Enjoy the larger portions emoticon

I have a tendency to overestimate pastas and rice but underestimate meats. I don't measure all the time, but I do try to spot-check myself every couple weeks to keep distortion from creeping in and taking over.

I agree. Measuring things is really eye-opening, especially with peanut butter.

Good job!

Measuring is the only way I can know for sure. I am more successful when I write it down and add it up. Good looking out for the rest of us. I'm going to try real hard to write it down. Have a good day!

ABC's of being your own Spark Buddy

Monday, March 01, 2010

I like the ABC's of a Spark Buddy too!

I think I'll be my own Spark Buddy first and foremost, applying these ABC's to myself. Yep...

ACCEPT myself as I am.
BELIEVE in myself.
CHOOSE myself.
DOESN'T give up on myself.
EMAIL myself (aka journaling).
FORGIVE my mistakes.
GIVE myself support
HELP myself when I need it.
INSIST that I continue (most definitely!!!).
JOIN myself on my journey (aka 100% participation).
KICK myself when I need it.
LOVE myself.
MAKE myself laugh when I need to.
NEVER let myself down (ok...that's impossible...no-one is this perfect!).
OFFER myself support.
PICK myself up.
QUIET my fears.
RESPECT my process.
SUPPORT my efforts (aka 100% participation).
TELL myself the truth.
UNDERSTAND my frustrations.
VALUE who I am.
WISH myself always the best.
X-TEND my friendship to others.
Y...... (where's Y?).
ZAP myself into reality when needed.
