Ok-time to check in

Thursday, June 03, 2010

Been a month since I have blogged and I need to check in and record where I am in this journey. Still feeling great!

I have continued being really good with my food. In fact I've gotten a little more comfortable with portions & what to eat so I am starting to experiment a little :)

Exercise is still going well, I had hit a week or 2 where I didn't seem to be losing, so I've switched up my cardio to be mostly recumbant biking w/ some walking -like 80/20 %. Seem to be getting some good result from this, see how it goes and I may switch back in a few weeks.

I managed to go away for a weekend and see my mom, just made sure to pack the right foods to take with me. She was also wicked supportive and had picked up some stuff already to have at the house, so I stayed with my normal food routines. I've actually gone out with a friend a couple times for ice cream, once I got frozen yogurt, once I got real ice cream-just got a kid cone size. This is a lifestyle change for me, I won't be cutting out 'bad' foods, I just will have them much less often & in smaller portions.

I am just feeling awesome and I love it!! I am *not* stressed out about this, *not* feeling like I am depriving myself, *not* feeling like I HAVE to go do my cardio routine (but that I want to), it...all...feels...GREAT!

Way to go! The legs on my trousers are really really baggy, I've lost like 6 inches off each thigh lol, the waist is a little lose, but it's kinda annoying cos I can't yet fit into a smaller size.

little over 2 weeks down

Thursday, April 29, 2010

Wow-time is flying here people! I've been exercising almost everyday since the beginning of April, watching food & portion carefully for a little over 2 weeks. And still I am not struggling! I don't know what is different now from any other time in my life I've tried to change my health lifestyle-but it is working :) I have actually found that if I don't manage to get out at least twice a day for a mini walk that I get majorly cranky, I've come to look forward to that time and I feel so good after!

Here is to these changes staying with me for the rest of my life! Send me good thoughts Sparkies, I wish the best for us all emoticon

1 week down

Tuesday, April 20, 2010

Ok-I've passed a little over 1 solid week of being carerful with what I eat and making sure to excercise EVERY day. This is the scary hasn't been hard! I went out to dinner once and had mexican food and I didn't freak out. I just knew that whatever I ate-I was going to have to work off-amazing how that makes a difference in how much you put in your mouth sometimes ;)

At this point I am trying to do about 1 hour of cardio a day. I break it up in to many small pieces-but as long as I am getting it in-woo hoo!

I just wanted make a blog entry for this so I could look back and see that my 1st 100% dedicated week to an entire lifestyle change was possible and actually-wasn't a struggle to do! In the past I've excercised or watched what I eat-but this time it has become a focus, not just an OPTION.

Wish me luck Sparkies!

new sneaks

Friday, April 16, 2010

ok, so I bought new sneakers on Wed. I decided I was ready to stop just doing the WII free step at home and actually start walking in the real world. But walking in my existing sneakers was making my ankles/knees & hips all hurt. I read around a bit and decided to but the new Skecher Shape-up sneakers. They are pricier than I wanted to pay, but turns out to be WELL worth it!.

I brought them home and chuckled over the fact that my new sneakers came with a DVD & booklet on how to use them! I was advised to wear them only for 25-45 minutes a day for the first 2 weeks-depending on my fitness level.
Here I thought 'Silly manufacturer! they are sneakers!'
I then proceeded to put them on and wear them around the house and after 20 minutes HAD to take them off because I could REALLY feel it in my legs.

Next day I go to work and bring them in, decide I am going to wear them when I go out to take a few walks during the day. I wore them for 10 minutes for a walk and it is just awesome-they are so comfortable! I can feel my muscles working, as opposed to feeling my joints hurt. Then for lunch I decided to do an experiment. I did about 1/2 mile walk with my old sneakers and everything just HURT. Came back to the office and swapped to the new sneakers and did another 1/2 mile-it is an entirely different experience. They are so comfortable to walk in! All the joint pain was gone by the time I was done.

ok, so I go home and I am thinking to myself that they may be comfortable, but what is all this hype about the muscle work out. I mean I felt it-but it wasn't crazy bad. Huh-oh well. Head to bed and get a good night sleep. I woke up this morning and went to swing my legs out of bed and realized that I got much more of a workout then I realized with those shoes! I could feel it all through my thighs my butt!

I am looking forward to continuing with these sneaks and seeing if I didn't just open a new door on my path to fitness. It is amazing how such a small thing, a new pair of the RIGHT sneakers, can make it so I WANT to exercise!!! emoticon
