Some words about partnership

Wednesday, January 26, 2011

A book said
Are you looking for a partner who

is interested in what you are doing

Try to be interested yourself
That gave me some thoughts.. wanting to do more exercise and than use 2 hours in front of the computer
To day I had to prepare something for my teaching.. My partner yelled.. where is the drill for walls, where is.. in stead of spinning around I gave respect to the fact I had a project that even had a deadline.
I would like to walk tours with him. But I canīt expect he wants to walk the right time for me. And maybe sometimes I will have to be the one to take action maybe alone or maybe with him or maybe with some different people.
Well I must admit that putting me and my activities in focus rather than thinking of we doing this and that may seem lonesome or selfish.
On the other hand waiting for each other to take action rather than acting is too passive.
Hmm - wanting him to change unhealthy eating habits rather than making the healthy food and letting him eat what he prefers and call it his own business. I donīt have a final answer
We can inspire and aspire as two very different people. In the beginning of the 50tees.

Nice blog! You really need to have a good partner to help you along the diet & exercise journey to be successful!

This sounds like something I go thru. Finding me time is hard. It has always been doing for husband and kids. I now find that I get up early and do my exercise before I am expected to deal with others or I don't get in my exercise time!

Putting yourself first is not being selfish in my opinion. If you don't have it altogether yourself, than how can you give to others? Being a good example without expectations for the other person to change is definitely challenging but also a better way to live to be happy. So good for you for making good choices in your life!!

I agree with everything you said. Maybe, eventually, your healthy eating habits will rub off on him. It can be hard to be in a partnership when the two of you don't always have the goals or interests. I do hope you will put yourself first though. Maybe after living together for some time your healthy habits will get him to come around to the way you are living.

wow, although it's not exactly the same your post today is very similar to mine.

I think it's wonderful what's happening. Good food and exercise is clearing our minds which seem to be resulting in us being better people for ourselves and by extension to others as examples.

We try so hard to take care of others but there is something to be said for taking care of ourselves. It's just my opinion but I think but setting the example, when they are ready or need to they will make changes for themselves that will make them better people without us poking them =)

Thin and thick people

Tuesday, January 18, 2011

My love is thin and I am sort of fat...
He says it is his fat burning that is different.
I have a feeling he moves more than I do.
Of course it is easier when you are slender to get out of the chair and son on..

I have bought a step tracker for me. I have got his yes to try it on him a couple of days. It can be interesting to see in figures what it is about.
He does not want it on the internet. That can also be my advantage. Anyway I will tell a little about this little challenge when days go by. I could make his account - MY GOAL emoticon

Good luck on the step tracker! Please do give a review of it after you've been using it a while. I thought of getting on e at one point but then discovered my iphone has a great walking app so am going to try that instead.

20th of december - I wonder..-

Tuesday, December 21, 2010

How to add and get points for strength training? It is not a problem for me to register cardio training
Another thing and this is something quite important for the diet:
In a home site I found where you can calculate calories and how much you may have a day it says: I can have 2253 cal a day in order to go down to 78 kg emoticon
In Sparkpeople It is recommended: 1.370 - 1.720 cal a day emoticon

I really wonder..There is a big distance between those figures

As HUNNYBEE said, it's important to find what works for you. Also, it's important to use reputable, science-based sources of information.
It's easy to find something that tells us what we would like to know, but we have to be sure that it's accurate and makes sense. Otherwise, we follow it and get nothing like what we thought we were getting.

Bottom line, this losing weight and getting better muscle tone and strength is really hard, at least for me. And I need to work harder at doing the right things.

This is one of the things that I like about Sparks, it's flexible and we can find our own path to get to where we want to go.
I do suggest that you make changes slowly to see what effect it has on the rest of the good habits that you have already formed.
We can always improve little by little but at the same time I always remember the old saying
"if it's not broke doin't fix it."

I guess I'd look at whether the Sparkpeople calorie range is working for you. It is for me. I've been slowly losing each week.

I find it very hard to be motivated to do strength training. I'm glad Hunnybee knew how to tell you to record it.

    Hi FRIDA11!
If you want to add strength training on the Spark Fitness page, go to: My Tools -- then choose "My Fitness" from the drop-down menu.

This will open the Fitness page, where you will see 2 sections: one for Strength Training, and one for Cardiovascular. Go to the top section: Strength Training. You will see a white 'button' that says "Add Strength Exercises" - click on it. A page will pop up, with a list of exercises. Tabs across the top of the page will allow you to select CORE, UPPER BODY, LOWER BODY, or YOUR OWN exercises. If you click on an exercise, it will be added to your personal list. Once you have chosen your exercises, you can check them off as you do the exercise, and it will track for you.

As for your will only lose weight if you use more calories than you consume. Here is a website that can help you to figure it out:

Hope this helps!

This month it has been snowing a lot. And it is almost sure we will get a white christmas.
That happens every 7th year in Denmark. Lat year was also a white christmas.
It has meant a lot of snow shovelling. I rapport it as hard digging. And that uses quite many calories.
I also bicycle and go by train rather than by car. Yesterday I bicycled to the train and walked around 2 km to get to the destiny. calories burnt and an incredible lovely view.
So this december is an active month!!
I am in the aspire and inspire group.. here we have to take 10 pushups every day this week - quite a challenge! emoticon

I wish we had some snow, but that's pretty rare in Georgia.

Thank you for the comments and what an interesting description of life in Ohio. To go by wheelchair in snow must be a challenge.

I agree - the pushups get to me sometimes.
We have a lot of snow every year where I live in northeast Ohio (U.S.A.). It hasn't been too bad this year - only about 9 inches in my area but neighboring towns have had up to two feet. There were drifts in my yard over four feet deep last winter, but that was an exceptional winter.
It has been cold and windy here and the snows been on the ground about three weeks now. The temp is averaging about 18 degrees Fahrenheit with wind chills down to -10. I do have an all-wheel drive vehicle and can get out when I need to, but thank goodness I don't have to!
