An important wisdom for me..Actually 3

10 days ago I fulfilled a one-week diet with only fruit, vegetables and yogurt and nuts and some fish oil.
My weight has gone up and up
and I have doubled my pills against to low metabolism. It was said I have something physical with my thyroid so those pills are needed.
In that week I did not take my pills against too low metabolism and some other pills(Lithium) I would never take this diet for a longer period and only in calm periods.
I took it for rinsing out my liver as my liver figure is slightly too high. I expected to go up in weight. BUT WENT 4 KILO DOWN
MY FAT IS TIGHTENED TO MY BODY BY THE MEDICINE.. I will repeat this cure once and a while in other calm weeks.
Later I received a good book I have ordered about going from overweight to normal weight. Here they guide you to make goals about food and exercise. NO I DONīT WANT TO DO THAT AGAIN AND AGAIN I realised that making goals and fulfilling them in ceramics means much more to me than loosing 10 or 15 kilo... Furthermore I realised that it is when I find ceramic or life hard I eat extras... So focusing on goals in ceramic rather than food and food and exercise I donīt care to do makes me much much happier...
The 3rd thing I found out is that the fact that I eat too much Kalium comes from some seeds I like to eat and this can influence my liver..together with the medicine I have to take. I donīt have to eat those seeds.. Yes that was 3 important points for me. emoticon

My prayer for 2012 is for A fat bank account & a thin body.
Please don't mix these up like you did last year.
These are not my words but could have been
And last evening didnīt promise good for next year. To day I am out eating again.
Maybe this time I will do better.
My mother said: The first the worst the 2nd the same, the last the best of all the game.
Letīs see
I have to be busy these days for getting a class in ceramics and finish a couple of orders.
One ceramic cook pot, and one ceramic thing for a new born baby

The biggest change I feel is being on an American Homesite.
My mother is american but I have lived in Denmark my whole life except for a period in Japan.
When I communicate in American I feel different as American is my first language and maybe more associated with feelings than Danish. I donīt know.
I find the people I "meet" here are very friendly and supportive.
Weight: There are people here who have great succes loosing weight.
I donīt know what I can do to loose weight and stay slim.
I think copying what slim people do and listen to their view about food.
And getting an answer from my doctor about why my metabolism keeps going down.
"That is something that happens to women" is not an answer. No women in my family have that problem and only one of the women I know has that problem and has to take pills against it.
Spark people is a very good site to find exercise. I have found some good ones against pain in the lower back. And answers to many questions. There is surprisingly many cake recipies. This does not belong to a site for fat people. Well - changing oil/butter to 2% yoghurt in Brownies is a really good idea.

    Frida, I've never lived outside the U.S. so I feel kind of deprived, if you can understand that. Other than some trips to Canada and Scotland, I know very little about other cultures (even though I work at a univresity.)

Thank you for staying here and sharing with us about what you've learned. I find I learn the most from other SP members, and I consider them colleagues in my journey to lose weight.

I'm glad that you have found friendly and supportive people is my favorite thing about SparkPeople! I haven't looked at too many of the cake recipes here...I try to avoid cake in general, because it is a weakness for me!

    It's so nice to communicate with people from all walks of life from all over the world here on SP! We all have a common goal to live healthier lives. I love using the site to find articles and exercises. i tend to avoid baking, except for special occasions.

    Frida, I agree that Spark People has lots of great helpful people. Spark People is a great website in many ways. I also agree with you that some of the recipes on SparkRecipes aren't always the healthiest. You have to really look at the ingredients and nutrition information. Chef Meg has a blueberry flax seed muffin recipe that is really good on SparkRecipes. You might want to try it if you like muffins.

You might try drinking a glass of warm water with lemon juice in the morning to help kick off your metabolism. Also, I have found that cutting back on carbohydrates helps too.

    Frida, I haven't tried any of the cake receipe's on site. I do use many of the other recipe's. If you like muffins there is an applesauce muffin receipe on site that is really delicous and calories and carb count a good per serving.

    There is so much on the site to discover! I agree that not all the recipes seem good for the weight conscience, but they are less calories... so if you feel you have to have them at least they would be better for you!

Tracking food

I must admit I thought one should eat specifick food
This is difficult as I live in Denmark so it is not the same food and some food is not in my dictionairy either Danish or American vedgetables
Now I found out I just can track what I actually eat rather than a suggested plan

No Understanding

My Love left a bag of salty stuff with a lot of fat in
just before me and went a place
I ate it and felt awful
When he came back I asked whether he would hide that kind of thing in the cubbard?
- Donīt you have any self discipline he asked
- No, that is why it is many years ago I bougth that kind of thing last time (flæskesvær)
- It is not acceptable that I have to hide it in the cubbard - You have to control yourself.-
We have lived together since January. The icebox has changed completely and my weight has gone up.

    So sorry to hear that your love seems to have no understanding. Don't give up though. Keep talking to your love about your lack of self control Maybe if you can talk to him about these issues frequently he will come to understand. When my hubby and I first got married he had no clue of what was a balanced meal and it has taken me a few years, but he is much better now. emoticon
