They say "slow and steady" wins the race, but for me, its 2 steps forward, 3 back....sigh.... still trying though!

Bucket List

Wednesday, October 21, 2009

It already sounds over-used, but the term "bucket list" is valuable to consider. I mean, what do you really want to see or do yet in your life? Have you really thought about it? Many of us, including me, just DO life, and don't often consider what we will have wished we had done, had we actually planned to do it. Like, I'd like to try snowshoeing sometime, but you know, there is no plan on when I will try that.... When you think of the things that you would really like to have done while you are still able - you may find that there are quite a few that you have no planned way to accomplish. It's like the becoming old saying.... if you do the same things that you have always done, you can't expect to have any different results! Do you have dreams that have no plan in your head as to attain them? Maybe it's time to record some of those and look at the ol' calendar....

I do have a "bucket list", and it is a list of actual attainable goals to do before I kick the bucket! I have been able to cross some of them off over the years and it's a wonderful feeling that I plan to continue!
Have a great week!

Bucket List ~ I have been considering this as well, there are a lot of things that I would like to see, places to go, and things I would like to do. I have in fact did two of the thing I wanted to do one was go to GRACELAND, & go to the beach

I've actually been thinking along these lines lately. I don't know if it's an age thing but do feel the need for a job shift. I've been at my present job for 15 years. I get a lot of vacation time every year and I hate to lose that and start over. But realistically what is some vacation time matter when you hate going to your job every day?
For me spending time with my family isn't an issue, it's what I want to do for me that I have a hard time with. You get used to doing for everybody else that you forget to take care of yourself too!
I definately need to have a bucket list and use it.

I work with terminal and actively dying patients all the time. I've not yet heard one regret about not having done a bucket list item, but I have heard regrets about not really being there for the family or having a small argument come between family members.

I have a bucket list, but more important to me than the list of things I am able to cross off is working on building lasting relationships. Some days I think the bucket list is the easier route.

(I do realize that the two aren't mutually exclusive, I just at my max for being able to cope right now)

Beans!

Wednesday, October 07, 2009

I really like beans. They are robust, satisfy my hunger, and are tasty. but the beans counted for almost 1000 calories today! I guess I can only do one meal with them a day! And then there is rice - I thought that that was less calories than potatoes but man, another big hit on the calorie scale. Sheesh.

I have an excellent recipe for "triple-bean casserole". It's 278 calories & 4 g fat per serving. It has Great Northern beans, Black beans, and Kidney beans. It is excellent. Let me know if you want the recipe.

Pushing the envelope

Tuesday, October 06, 2009

emoticonI feel like it is back to day 1. I've been a member since February but not real faithful about it - exercised regularly, but still weigh 7 pounds more than when I started! How did I do this to myself? I just cannot believe that I am carrying this much more weight, and I sure feel its effects.

So I was more careful today, drank more water like yesterday. Gotta make those changes and stick to them long term.
