Saturday Good, Bad and Very Bad

Monday, November 14, 2011

Yesterday had its good points and its bad points.

The good: I was at my church for a progressive dinner. I helped set it up and I was one of two people that brought appetizers. I chose to bring ham and turkey slices, carrots, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, celery, and cheese slices.

The bad: I ate way too much!

The very bad: the insulator for my attic did not show up for a second time. I have asked for compensation because I had rushed home from my errands and then waited four hours for a no show. I called them every half hour for three hours and there was no answer at the emergency phone number. They finally called 5-1/2 hours later to apologize stating that their machine broke down. I am not sure that I believe them.

Progressive gatherings are SO much fun but, you're right, it's hard not to want to at least TASTE everything in sight. All those different preparations, so many chefs! Wow, sorry to hear about your workman not showing. Ugh, that is something that really irritates me when it happens to me!

Wow, it sounds like you had busy day. Your appetizer sounds excellent. Progressive dinners are difficult. The ones I've participated in change location for each course and it is challenging to keep track of everything I've eaten. On the plus side, this is an excellent social setting in which to visit with friends. I also found that if I was over indulging at one course, I had a few minutes while we traveled to the next course to think about it and change my perspective before I arrived at the new location. Keep up the good work!

I am still packing and moving boxes. Boy it sure racks up the activity minutes.

I notice a change in how I am thinking. For example, I was hungry last night and wonder what to eat. I thought about what I had eaten during the day and decided that I was low on my fruits/vegetables. I decided to stop at Subway because it is one place that I can eat healthier.

When I am deciding what to have for my bedtime snack, I always check my tracker to see where I may be a little short in the nutrition department. If I'm right in range, I may let myself have something not quite so nutritious - otherwise, I try to make up where I need to.

Today's Bible Verse is from Proverbs 16:28 - A dishonest man spreads strife, and a whisperer separates close friends.

Today's Activity - The basement is now empty except for the cats. Once I get my granddaughters room cleared out, I will move the cats into her room for safekeeping. Not as much packing today. It has been a lot of removing items off the walls. Still very physical work. I am getting very exhausted and I ache all over from all the activity. I wish I could just rest but then the house would not be ready for the contractor on Monday. He will start making repairs to the family room and my daughter's bedroom. He should finish the downstairs on Wednesday.

Today's Highlight - My granddaughter woke me up this morning saying "Grandma, it's morning time." I had slept on my granddaughter's mattress and she slept on the floor next to me. Tonight, my daughter and granddaughter have left for my mom's. They will spend a few nights with her before returning home. I would say that it will be quiet here expect that there will be contractors in and out over the next month.

Today's Bible Verse is from Proverbs 12:11 - Whoever works his land will have plenty of bread, but he who follows worthless pursuits lacks sense.

Today's Activity - Packing, moving boxes, packing, moving boxes and so on for 5 hours this morning!

Today's Highlight - I came home to no bed in my bedroom. I get to sleep on the floor for the next month. I think I will see if my granddaughter will give up her mattress!

Have a blessed day everyone!
