On vacation and the wrong kind of streak

Wednesday, December 22, 2010

This week I seem to be on a streak of NOT meeting my goals. It's not that I'm NOT active, it's just not the cardio that my body is craving. Tonight I ran to one store and got the last few things I wanted for Alexis. Then after dinner, I wrapped. For about 3 hours. But, I'm about done. I think I'm not going to wrap stocking stuffers, so except for hubby's gifts and the stuff I haven't bought yet, everything else is ready.

I have one more store that I know I need to hit locally and I think mom and I are going to take a quick road trip tomorrow. I need something for my grandparents (what do you get for 80 year olds that have been married and in the same house for 60 years??) and I want to pick up one or two more things for Al, then I'm done. I will pick up a few things in the days after Christmas for people that we are getting together with next week, but that's no pressure.

After our shopping run, mom and I will spend the rest of the day tomorrow and all day Friday baking. We are scaling it back this year and I plan on sharing (a lot). Hopefully we can avoid doing too much damage. Tomorrow (and everyday of break), I will workout. It will be nice to have the extra time to get it done in the morning.

Goals for tomorrow:
80+ oz water
30+ min cardio
Eat well and log my food
Stretch
In bed by 10:30

Would your grandparents appreciate an outing with you - giving them time and perhaps a visit to a favourite haunt of theirs?
Or organise some sort of service for them - such as window cleaning or something that will save them effort, time and money

Enjoy

One more day!

Tuesday, December 21, 2010

That's what I have left of this long-term placement and the number of days I have left to work before an 11 day vacation. I am so looking forward to this. As nice as it is to work full-time, I've missed seeing my stay-at-home mom friends and I'm really looking forward to some good workouts and play time with Alexis. Plus, I already have jobs lined up for after the break.

Today, like yesterday, ended up being more about getting things done than following my plan. So even though I ate well, I (again) did not get in my exercise or all of my water. It WILL get better, by Thursday, if not before.

Goals for tomorrow:
80+ oz water
30+ min cardio
Eat well and log my food
Stretch
In bed by 10:30

Happy Solstice!

Monday, December 20, 2010

I am so looking forward to the days getting longer again! I'm also hoping to be able to enjoy tonight's eclipse, even if it means getting shorted on sleep. If the clouds clear enough, I'll wake Alexis to see the moon glow orange-red around 3:15 (EST).

Today was okay, I ate well, but I did no exercise. I ended up over-sleeping this morning and then tonight had to get some shopping and house work done. I'd like to think that I'm finding my maintenance groove in regards to eating and working out. Hopefully, I won't see any gain from my lack of cardio. It's not that I'm doing none, just significantly less than usual for me.

Goals for tomorrow:
80+ oz water
30+ min cardio
Eat well and log my food
Stretch
In bed by 10:30

Happy Solstice to you and am looking forward to lessening the chances of wintry weather as well as the longer days

So, did you see it? Me, I was happily cocooned in bed. But I am with you on sooooooooo looking forward to longer days!

I think you're going to be fine with a little less cardio once in a while. As long as it doesn't become the norm, and I'm quite sure it won't.

I'm glad to hear you're going to try to catch the eclipse ... we are, too. Hub Tom is an astronomer so he's pacing like a caged animal till the clouds clear about 1:00 a.m. EST. This is according to the Clear Sky Clock (cleardarksky.com) for our local area on the shores of Lake Erie. As for cardio, I'm trying to find a winter groove myself. I really miss walking outside & indoor cardio is a challenge for me! But we'll figure something out ... got a whole winter to do it! Enjoy the eclipse if the clouds in your area do a Walmart rollback!

Unfortunately, having just spent a night awake with a sick child, I am not planning to either stay up, or get up to see the eclipse.

Race to the End.

Sunday, December 19, 2010

What a great weekend!!! The really tough week is over, now I just need to finish Christmas prep and make it through the holidays.

Yesterday started out with me sleeping in until 7:30 and then having a relaxing morning. Around 9:30 I dropped Alexis at the gym with daddy and headed over to our local rail trail for my run. I did 8 miles in a little over an hour and it felt great!! It was a nice, flat, paved trail, gorgeous sunshine, minimal wind and I was strong. After lunch, I picked up some and took a very short nap before my evening started.

We had our open gym/lock-in at 5:30 and ended up with over 100 kids, which is wonderful. I left that early to head down to my concert and perform. While Saturday did not go as well as Friday, I was still blessed to be able to participate in such a wonderful event leading into Christmas week. After the concert, I went out with my friends from the choir and we had a couple martinis and shared some gelato. So yummy and a wonderful end to the night.

Today I was up after only 5 hours sleep, so after church I ate lunch and then set out to relax and read for awhile. I ended up napping for about 2 hours-which is good since the Survivor finale is on tonight until 11.

This should be a good week. I have already started my lists of the things I need to get done each day and the things I still need to buy. I have 3 days of work and then I'll spend Friday baking with my mom. Make it a great week everyone!!

Goals for tomorrow:
80+ oz water
AM Workout: 30 min cardio
PM Workout: 10 min cardio +30DS L1
Eat well and log my food
Stretch
In bed by 10:30

I take about an hour to walk three miles - doing eight in an hour is impressive! I hope you have a great week and wonderful holidays.

Sounds like a great week to me! So glad that the concerts went so well. I always used to love singing in a choir. My favorite song to sing in our holiday concert was always The Hallelujah Chorus. Our chorus and band would perform it together. Hope your having a good Monday and that you are able to get everything done.

Hallelujah!

One concert down and it went wonderfully! I am so happy that I joined this chorus. I love performing and the feeling that you get after a great show.

Today was good. I didn't get my workout it-instead I decided that I needed a LS shirt for the concert, so I went shopping. emoticon I found a gorgeous white sweater for $20 and a necklace and earrings to go with it. I'll try and get a pic tomorrow night.

I ate pretty well today and I got in all of my water and then some. Tomorrow is going to be busy, but I'm really going to try to get in a run sometime. We have our lock-in at the gym tomorrow evening and then I'll leave that early to go the second Messiah performance. I may drop Alexis at the gym in the morning for a class and go for my run-I just don't want to go before 7:30.

Goals for tomorrow:
80+ oz water
Run 8+ miles
Eat well
Stretch
In bed by 12:00am

Fantastic job on the concert. I hear you on performing, I used to do a lot of it! It takes time, but the rewards are wonderful.
