Daily Goals

Wednesday, October 13, 2010

That is a practice I started doing very early on in my Spark journey. Most of the time it works really well for me. Lately though, I feel like I've very lax in letting most of them slide. Today I only met 1/6. I know this week has been crazy, but it is something I really need to focus on. Starting now, I am re-committing to meeting my daily goals every day. Hopefully this gets me back on track. I find that when I let the little things slide, it is only a small step before I am coasting down the big slide. As of right now, I am backing away.

Goals for tomorrow:
80+ oz water (I've only been doing 64, need to work on this)
AM Workout: 1 mile run +30DS L2 (still haven't done it this week)
PM Workout: Abs +10 min cardio
Eat well and log my food (limit of one cookie-must be tracked)
Stretch

Little things have definitely gotten in my way this week. Damn pre-TOM.

Maybe you just need to adjust your goals list when things are busier so that you don't have as many goals? Downsize a bit?

I know what you mean! Too many little things sliding, lead to the big slide. I love the way you put that. You can do it!!!

Distracted

Tuesday, October 12, 2010

All day I feel like I have racing from one task to the next, most times not even finishing one before I start the next. And, I had so much stuff to do that I never got my second workout in today. Even now, I'm running through the list of what else I need to get done. Just going to be one of those weeks I guess. Somehow 4 day weeks always seem the longest. Here's hoping we get back on track soon.

Goals for tomorrow:
96+ oz water
AM Workout: 2 mile interval run +10 min cardio
PM Workout: 30DS L2
Eat well and log my food
Stretch

Remember to stop and do some deep breathing! It can really help refocus you.

Good luck, before you know it Friday will be here again.

A great end to a great weekend.

Monday, October 11, 2010

Today was just lovely, I slept in a bit, did my run and then Alexis and I walked to the parade. She got a few pieces of candy, we enjoyed the sun and I got to listen to some local HS bands. After that, we met up with some friends at the pumpkin farm. I got some terrific pictures of Alexis and the kids had a blast at the playground. I got a bunch of stuff done around the house, made a healthy dinner and worked on my lesson plans.

I didn't drink enough water today and I went over by a hair on my calories, but I still did better than Saturday or Sunday. I rocked the cardio today though and I'm feeling pretty good.

Goals for tomorrow:
96+ oz water
AM Workout: 30DS L1
PM Workout: 30DS L2
Eat well and log my food

Behaving like a 4-year old

Sunday, October 10, 2010

Ok, so, maybe my behavior today wasn't exactly like my daughter's, but it definitely had some similarities. For starters I slept terribly last night, which means I woke up feeling lousy-probably from yesterday's cookie binge. Between rushing to church, the party and then choir, I didn't get any cardio in and I did not meet my water goal for today (boy do I feel that). Then, add in 5 hours in a small building full of cookies, cake and candy. Total: one exhausted, bloated, sugar-crashing momma. It's not quite that bad, but I'm feeling it and I am really looking forward to salad for lunch tomorrow.

The anniversary party for my grandparents today was wonderful. Lots of family and friends and good times. Did I mention that they've been married 60 years!Such an accomplishment!

Goals for tomorrow:
96+ oz water
AM Workout: 5K run
PM workout: 30 min cardio
Eat well and log my food
Stretch

Hope you enjoyed that salad. I know after a day of eating crappy food, a day of good clean eating is both needed and appreciated.

You know, you do need rest days. They're important!

So you dived into some sugar. Happens to the best of us. Have that salad today! And just move on. And hey, you celebrated with your grandparents . . . THAT's the important thing.

My long run, 10+dozen cookies and 118 pounds of apples.

Saturday, October 09, 2010

That's pretty much what we did today. My run went awesome! The new running tights and long sleeve shirt worked out great-I was comfortable my whole run and I can tell that they'll be good for probably another 20 degrees cooler. I did 2 4-mile loops today, with a 2 minute pit stop in between for a drink and a fruit strip. My total time was 72 minutes, which means I did the 8 miles in 1 hour, 10 minutes! Woot! My first loop was 33 minutes and my second was 37, I guess I need to work on not starting out so fast. I think a big help for me today was that I had music. I haven't been using my mp3 player for runs for probably 2 months but I decided to go for it today. I really think that's what pushed me on the first half. I felt really good and probably could have gone longer, but I didn't want to push it today. I have decided that I will not do the 5K trail run I had planned for next weekend. It's all on grass, not really trails, and it will allow me to get in another long run. My plan is to run 15K next Saturday in under 80 minutes.

After my run, mom came over and we went to pick apples. Between us, we picked 118 pounds of 4 different varieties. The plan is to use some of them for centerpieces for my grandparent's anniversary party tomorrow. I also made 2 batches of applesauce tonight, somewhere between 16-20 cups total. I'll probably make more and freeze some, as well as an apple pie. Also for the party tomorrow, mom needed to bake 7+ dozen cookies. So together we made closer to 10-11 and split the extras. My problem was that I needed to try one (or three) of each batch. I was seriously like the cookie monster today. So much so that I felt ill once it all settled. I ended up having tomatoes, cottage cheese and applesauce for dinner. Guess I'll need to do some kind of cardio tomorrow to try and counteract the calories.

All in all, it was a really great day. I didn't meet my goals, but hopefully I didn't do too much damage. I'm looking forward to tomorrow and enjoying some time with my family.

Goals for tomorrow:
96+ oz water
Workout: 30 min light cardio
Church
Party
Walk to choir

Oh I understand! You have to taste test to make sure they are OK! And sometimes it takes 3 to convince yourself they are actually OK. Great job with your run!!!! I love reading about your progress.

It sounds like a wonderful day!! I am so jealous that you can not only RUN like the wind but SING too!! emoticon I no longer bake cookies because I have absolutely no sense about them. Maybe some day but certainly not now. I'm sure you burned off most of the extra calories and hope that you don't feel the after effects today. I feel sluggish for 3 days when I eat that much sugar. emoticon

Wishing you a wonderful Sunday!

I think with that long run you don't have to worry about the cookies too much. Not the best way to refuel, of course, but you don't do it often. Don't punish yourself!

Lord, reading your blogs lately are making me so tired. Wish I was a speedy gonzalez like you!

Way to SPARK along on those fleet feet!

Cookies...bigtime trouble for me in that department too. There is NO WAY I could have undertaken such an effort as yours without doing serious damage to both the cookie population and myself...oof!

It sounds like a great day (in spite of or maybe because of the sampling). Hope that you have a wonderful time at your grandparents party. I am sure you ran off the extra calories.
