T-Give dinner 1/3, done.

Sunday, November 22, 2009

So, I had a great time dancing last night, even if I was out until 2:30. I did good yesterday nutritionally and even had a beer while we were out. Today was my first of 3 big dinners. I planned for it by eating a normal breakfast, but no snacks and no dinner. Lunch was at 2. I went over my cal goals by 24, was low in protein and ok for everything else.. I'm planning on having 6 really good days this week and having a better for you dinner at my house on Thursday. I did do my yoga DVD this morning, so I even got some exercise in. We'll see how it affected me tomorrow morning when I weigh in. Right now I need to go to bed to finish recovering from last night and to make myself able to get up in the morning.

Goals for tomorrow:
5am 30DS and Yoga
afternoon kickboxing (20 min, includes warm up and cool down)
stay under 1350 cals (which was about how much I ate in one meal today!).

S-A-T-U-R-D-A-Y...Night!

Saturday, November 21, 2009

So, I got a sitter for the night and DH and I are going out to the club to go dancing with a friend tonight. I'm really excited. I got up this morning a little later than usual, had my normal breakfast and then worked out. It felt really good and I ended up doing levels 1 and 3 of my cardio max DVD and my yoga. I really enjoy the kickboxing, even though it kicks my butt! My lower back is pretty sore today, and I am looking forward to doing just yoga tomorrow. Hopefully tonight will burn a few extra calories.

I noticed the last 2 days my cals have been higher than normal, but still within range (today would actually be pretty good if I wasn't having a PM snack and a beer later). I really need to focus on that tomorrow and this week (especially with the holiday in there!) We're having an early T-Give for my family tomorrow, but I've mapped it out and I think I'll be ok if I eat light the rest of the day.

Goals for tomorrow:
Sleep In
AM Yoga
Prep for what I'm bringing to dinner
Stay within nutritional goals (T-Give 1 of 3)

TGIF

Friday, November 20, 2009

I Love Fridays, and today was a really good day (mostly). I did both 30DS and yoga this morning, had a good day at work, fresh fruit for a PM snack and got in a 15 minute kickboxing session.

I'm high again in my calories today (though still in range), but under my goals for fat. I need to figure out what to do about that, it's 2 days in a row and I can't figure out what's different. Maybe I need to buy 2% milk instead of 1%...

I'm a little frustrated right now, I kindof feel like my family is starting to get in my way a bit. Yesterday, my DH and DD made oatmeal chocolate chip cookies. Today, my mom brought over chocolate cupcakes with frosting that were sent home with Her! And, it wasn't one or two, it was 6! She did eat one before she left, but it's so frustrating to have it in the house. I really enjoy chocolate cupcakes but one is more calories than I usually eat for breakfast! Argh! I might try to fit 1/2 of one in tomorrow, but I'm not holding my breath.

Goals for tomorrow:
AM Cardio, Yoga, Kickboxing (total ~55 minutes)
Stay w/in nutrition goals AND get enough fat.

Ouch! No WAY would I allow that stuff to be around...! If they insist on leaving goodies like that I take 'em to work and pass along the contraband...lol!

I was just perusing blogs and the picture of you and your daughter is so cute, it made me want to read your blog. :-) I wanted to say, I'm often low in my fat intake in relation to my calories as well. I wouldn't buy 2% milk instead of 1%. That isn't healthy fat like omega 3's. It would be better to be a little short in your fat levels, than to increase your bad fats. Do you take fish oil or flax oil supplements? If not, they are a good way to get 4 grams of good fat (two of each pill a day). Otherwise, just cook more with olive oil, eat a handful of nuts, and load up on fish (if you like it). I wouldn't worry about it too much as long as you're eating a healthy balanced diet. Good Luck! Now I'm going to look at the rest of your page. :-)

Good Day

Thursday, November 19, 2009

Well, I met all of my goals for today (did Cardio Max on level 1 though) and it feels really good. Going to go to bed earlier tonight to so I can (hopefully) get a full 8 hours. I really wanted to try level 2 cardio or maybe some kickboxing tonight, but I didn't get home until 5:30 and then I needed to start dinner. Now at 7:30, I don't want to be that active for fear it will affect my sleep. I will try it this week though, Saturday at the latest, I definitely need to start stepping up my workouts.

If you haven't checked it out yet and are interested, I'm looking for ideas for my Christmas wish list. I posted a blog earlier today asking for help and I would love any input I can get. TIA!

Goals for tomorrow:
5:30 30DS and yoga
Healthy dinner
Stay under 1400 cals for the day

Need Advice-Help!

Thursday, November 19, 2009

Ok, so I am trying to make a fairly specific Christmas wish list this year, mostly home fitness equipment since that's where my focus is right now.

I already know that I need some additional free weights and some sort of Yoga/Pilates Kit. I would also like some sort of HRM/pedometer.

What I really want to know is: What is your most important piece of small fitness equipment and why? I would really like specifics (brands you suggest if you know them).

Thanks so much!

I love my resistance band. It's great for strength training. You can do any exercise with it that you can do on something like the Total Gym. Don't get me wrong, I would LOVE to get a total gym but they are too expensive. I also use a stability ball and sometimes pair it with the resistance band.

There is a starter kit in the Spark store that includes the stability ball, resistance band, pedometer, and a workout DVD and I think it's only about $25.

Hope this helps...

Hmmm... I have a lot of fitness equipment at home, but if I had to pick one favorite item it would be my Swiss/Exercise ball. I don't remember the brand off hand, but it is important to find one that fits you properly. The one I currently have is too big because I convinced myself that the one recommended for my height was too small. I use it for core exercises and for stretches.

Another useful thing is a foam roller. I got one at Academy (Go Fit brand), but I don't really like this particular one. It deformed a lot after just a month or two. It is still useful, but it just wasn't/isn't the best quality. If you get one of these get one that is 6" in diameter and at least 24" long (36" would be better). Be forewarned, initially it will hurt and you will be convinced that you are doing it wrong. My trainer compared it to a really deep deep tissue massage. If you keep using it, it will become more comfortable and will start to feel good.

Thanks for the suggestions so far, as much as I would like a larger piece of equipment, I really don't have room in my house for a TM, elliptical or similar. I am considering a gym membership so that I have access to these types of machines.

I like my treadmill and the total gym because I can use it at anytime with no cost like going to a gym. I also am a pedometer junkie...I have a cheap one from wal-mart. I would really like to get a omron pedometer though...it seems like everyone on this site has rave reviews with them..also I found the pedometers that you have to measure your stride are best.I also bought my treadmill at wal-mart. The Total Gym is on loan from a friend she had to move to a smaller place and didn't have a place to store it so I am reaping the benefits of storing it for her! I would like to have a HRM and there have been many suggestions on the message boards along with the pedometers!!

I like treadmills that have cross training arms or ellipticals. The type with the programable session is great. It forces you to not whimp out and challenges you against yourself. My treadmill is old but it it a ProForm Crosswalk from Sears. It folds up so you can make more floor room for yoga or pilates. I like the NordicTrack ellipticals.

I like my mini trampoline the best because I can jog on it indoors when the weather is bad. I can also do jumping jacks and other exercises. I got it at Walmart.com and it didn't cost much.
