Home Sweet Home

Tuesday, June 29, 2010

I'm going to meet my goals for today, but man am I tired. I did a couple of laps this morning while we were in the pool-I didn't realize how much actual swimming works you out. I got in a couple good workouts today and I ate really well. Tomorrow we prep for our camping trip. I'm looking forward to sleeping in my own bed tonight.

Goals for tomorrow:
96+ oz water
AM workout-2 mile run +30 min cardio
Get to-do list done
Stretch
In bed by 10:30

Hot, Hot, Hot!!

Monday, June 28, 2010

That's what it was today! I got up a little after 6, had breakfast and got ready for my run. By the time I picked up my running partner, it was in the mid-70s and humid already! But, we persevered and headed out anyway. Unfortunately, even carrying the trail map, we got lost. I'm really bummed that the trail is so poorly marked, it stinks to have to worry about where you are when you're just trying to enjoy the run. In the end, we ran for an hour and I figure we ran about 5 miles. That's what I put in my tracker anyway. I really enjoyed running on the trail and I'm definitely going to find something similar at home to run at least once/month.

I didn't eat as low as I would have liked today, but it was mostly healthy (except for the ice cream treat for Alexis), I stayed in my range and I have been pretty active. It is what it is. This is a lifestyle and I'm on vacation. 10 days of enjoying myself within reason is NOT going to undo 8 months of work.

We did get in some shopping and swimming today as well. I finally picked up the new water bottle I have been looking for. It's a .5L Stainless Steel Bottle by Camelback that is insulated!! I put in a half dozen ice cubes, filled it with water and left it sitting in the sun by the pool while I swam for over an hour. When I went to refill it, it still had ice!! Yay!! That will be so nice after a run (or anything) to not have to drink hot water.

I did do a weigh in today, but since it's not on my own scale, I don't want to make anything official. Tomorrow we head home and prep for our camping trip. I'll really update my weight on Wednesday morning.

Goals for tomorrow:
96+ oz water
AM workout (30+ min)
Swim
Pack/Load/Drive home
Stretch
Eat healthy (low end)
In bed by 11

Truly a vacation now...

Sunday, June 27, 2010

I got up this morning and did L1 of CardioMax (realized I left 30DS at home), went and saw Toy Story as a family (with my bestest SIL!), went on a mile walk, played at the spray park, and then came home and swam for an hour. After dinner we relaxed on the deck, watched the sun set and the moon rise.

I ate well today. Stayed as low as I could and still be in my range. I really spaced everything so that I wouldn't be hungry. I'm going to try to do something similar tomorrow. Tomorrow is also my 4.8 mile run, take 2. I'll pick up my running partner at 7 and head to the park. This time I take the trail map with me. I'll let you know how it goes.

Goals for tomorrow:
96+ oz water
AM Run
Stretch

It's a Biggest Loser DVD. Another with progressive levels...
5 min warm-up
20 min L1
10 min L2
10 min L3
5 min yoga stretch

You're supposed to start w/ warm-up, L1, stretch for 1-2 weeks, then and L2 for 1-2 weeks, then L3 (total 50 min workout after ~4 weeks.) I like it because I can mix and match or use it to get in a quick 10 min if that's all I have. L1 does use weights but only to maximize the cardio, not as a circuit like Jillian.

Wedding Recap

Saturday, June 26, 2010

Well, it actually went fairly well. There was a little drama, but nothing out of control and we had a really great time. The food....O.M.G.!! The food was amazing. Now I remember how I ended up weighing 190. For starters, DH got me (unintentionally) a double cheeseburger for lunch. Ugh. I really didn't even enjoy it, it was simply food because I knew I wouldn't be able to wait until the reception. Should have eaten my Kashi bars and banana.

At the reception the had the most amazing spread for the cocktail hour. I actually did ok with that. I kept myself to 2 VERY small plates, mostly fruit and veggies. Dinner was a choice of filet mignon or chicken french, I went with the steak thinking that the chicken was drenched in breading and butter. It was a delicious 6 oz filet...with mashed potatoes and buttered carrots. Ok, not so bad...but then came dessert....chocolate fountain, wedding cake, Italian cookies, chocolate shot glasses with Irish Cream...

Add to that 2 glasses of wine and a glass of champagne and you have enough calories to feed me for 2 normal days!! Oh, did I enjoy it though.

As for my run this morning, if you saw my status earlier, you know that I had planned on doing a 4.8 mile trail run...on an unfamiliar trail that is NOT well marked. Yeah, I got lost. I think I ran about 3 miles. I'm going to take someone with me on Monday and try it again. Hopefully we'll be able to do the whole thing.

All in all it was a good day. I'm going to be doing some damage control tomorrow and hoping that I didn't gain back my last 5 pounds lost come Monday. Now I need to get some rest so I can get in a good workout tomorrow. Hopefully lots of playing and swimming, too. See you on the flip side!!

Goals for tomorrow:
96+ oz water
AM workout-30 day shred L1 and Cardio Max L1 (45 min toal)
Stretch
Have fun and relax (this is a vacation after all)

Ahh sounds like you had a great time.:) Dont worry about gaining. Isent there a trick about eatting for 3 days like crazy to trick your metabolism then start to eat right again to start the weightloss on a roll? You'll be on a roll in no time!

Loving the shore.

Friday, June 25, 2010

So, often for vacation, we will travel to NJ, which is where DH is from. We usually stay with his best friend (who has a gorgeous house with a pool). It was such a good idea to come down last night!! Today was an absolutely perfect day for the beach and we were able to take full advantage of it. We packed a picnic lunch and spent a few hours playing in the sand and swimming in the surf. Then, we came "home" and spent another hour swimming. So relaxing!

Which was good, because tonight was NOT. We are actually here this week to celebrate Al's nephews wedding. Alexis is in the wedding, so tonight was the rehearsal. It was rough. The couple is very young, very unorganized and the bride is very stressed. Add to that plenty of crazy family and you have a recipe for disaster. Tomorrow will be interesting to say the least.

Luckily, we'll have 2 more nights down here to relax again. I got in a really good workout this morning and ate fairly well, considering (I stayed in my range anyway). Tomorrow night is another unknown meal, but it's a buffet, so I should be able to find something semi-healthy and I'll take a snack with me. I also plan on getting in a good run tomorrow morning, which will help offset any damage I do.

Goals for tomorrow:
88+ oz water
AM run 4-5 miles
One trip to the buffet, make healthy choices
Stretch
In bed by 12
