Saw the new Disney movie Brave tonight. Absolutely a must see, especially if you have daughters. I plan on buying it as soon as it comes out on DVD.

Got in my run and bike, didn't mow the lawn because I was visiting with a friend while our girls played. Spent some good, quality time with Alexis. Ate pretty well. Finishing water before bed. All in all a really great day. Tomorrow will be busy, but hopefully I'll get done all the things I need to.

A successful first day of summer vacation is in the books. Cardio, playdate, errands, run, yummy dinner, visiting with a friend, reading for pleasure and an early bedtime. Yay!

I did 45 minutes of Turbo Jam this morning before it got too hot, walked the 1 2/3 miles to and from our playdate and then ran late this afternoon. It was H.O.T. (~90*)! I actually wasn't going to run, but I was (not so gently) reminded (prodded) with the fact that I have a 15K race in a couple weeks that is notoriously hot. So, what better training. I decided on 5.5 miles which is an easy run from a friend's house to the far end of our 2 mile rail trail and back. I carried my phone, water and had people on standby with my ETA. I made it, but it was tough; one of my hardest runs ever in fact and I ended up doing run/walk intervals for the last mile. No regrets though.

Food was decent today, I ate too much at dinner but it was pretty healthy. Avocado chicken salad, yum!

I have a few unexpected hours to myself tomorrow, so I'll have time to get in a run and a bike, Yay again!

I used 2 chix breasts, 2 avocados, juice of 1 lime, cilantro and green onion to taste. No mayo. Could easily be halved or even quartered, I was feeding 2 people. Enjoy!

Weds 5/20

I finally got my 30 day shred workout in. Quads are still tight but everything else seems to be back to normal. I did not end up running today. It was just too hot at 2:30 and I had no other time to do it. The rest of this week is questionable too. I may put in some miles on the 'mill tomorrow just to get them in.

My food was fair. Overate at lunch-I took Alexis to her favorite pizza place for lunch and then for ice cream to celebrate the start of summer. Ate okay at dinner though. Still drinking water-it's still almost 80* at 11pm. Tomorrow should be an interesting day. Our first day of summer vacation.

PM workout: TBD (burn total 600 cals min, try for a run)

    Yeah, the heat is killer!!! Suggested DH take the kids to the Lake today to get some relief but looks like he's going to spend the morning at the Dr's instead. Great last day of school for the DS!!! Just an ear infection, but still.....

Tomorrow is the last day of school. It's a mixed blessing; I get to spend time with Alexis, but I'm also not bringing in any income. I do always look forward to summer though.

Today was mixed, I didn't do 30 day shred. I started it and then realized how sore I still was from Sunday. I did, however, do 45 minutes of Turbo Jam instead. I ate okay. Could have been better, but could have been much worse. It's supposed to be hot tomorrow, heat index near 100*. I was hoping to run about 6 miles, but my schedule has been changed and I'm not sure I want to go that long in that heat. It will depend on how I feel at 2:30.

Today was a good day. I took Alexis to school, started some errands and then went back to volunteer in her classroom. After that, I needed to get in my long run. Maybe not the best choice for today, but it's supposed to be in the 80s tomorrow and the 90s by Wednesday and Thursday. I have to admit, I hurt when I was done, but I rolled out for a bit tonight and stretched and I'm feeling better. I'm glad I got it done either way.

    Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do . . . like my way-too-early easy run this morning. Just make sure you don't set yourself up for an overuse injury!
