Heartbroken

Monday, January 16, 2012

I got word this evening that a colleague lost her 10 year old daughter in a car accident this morning. Her mother, who was driving, is in the ICU at a local hospital. This is the 4th child to die in a car accident in our area this month. My mind is having trouble processing the devastation these families must be going through. I hug my little girl and I can't imagine life without her. How does a parent move forward after a loss like this? It seems so senseless.

Goals for tomorrow:
80+ oz water
AM workout: 30 day shred L2
PM workout: SP toning video +20 min cardio
Track my food and make good choices

We can only cling to the word of God that our loved ones are with him as we will be one day.

I work with a woman who has lost 3 of her 4 children...a daughter at 19 in a car accident and 2 sons later from heart attacks. She also had her husband leave her (after an affair with their pastor) and as an only child lost both parents to cancer, as well as having all her belonging destroyed in a flood and suffering a serious stroke.

In spite of all this tragedy, this lady is a model of faith and humor. God has carried her through and she is my inspiration. I'm praying that those parents who have lost children feel God's loving arms surrounding them and carrying them during this terrible time.

Sunday Funday w/ a baby shower!

Sunday, January 15, 2012

Well, as expected today, I didn't do too great with my food. My family held a baby shower for my sister. I actually did pretty good with the lunch portion-lots of veggies, but I also had a bunch of snacks and too much dessert. I did get my workout in today, 30 minutes cardio and a 6 minute arm video.

I'm looking forward to a run tomorrow morning before Miss A. comes home. Also lots of cleaning to get done, so I'll be doing some stair reps. I'm hoping to make it a strong start to the week. Make it a great one!

Goals for tomorrow:
80+ oz water
AM workout: Run
PM workout: SP toning video +cardio TBD (depends on length of run)
Track my food and make good choices

Hard to resist all the goodies at a baby shower. Good thing you have your workouts to help pull you though!

Sounds like a busy start to your week but a good one at that! Girl, keep up the good work! You are doing great even if you had alittle bit too much dessert! :-) You deserve that once in a while!

I love Saturdays!

Saturday, January 14, 2012

I felt so much better today and I was really looking forward to my run, even though it was about 15*. I was very happy to find that after amping up my workouts the last month or so, my winter running clothes are not nearly as tight as they were 2 weeks ago! Yay for small victories! I also felt pretty good during my run today, even though it was a minute slower than last week and I didn't have my music. I was able to turn it on at the end and sprint to the finish (uphill) and felt like I could give more. I even challenged LadyGwen to run an extra lap (~2 miles) with me next week after the race.

After the run, I got my grocery shopping done, yay for fresh produce!! And then Alexis and I met some friends to see Beauty and the Beast (her favorite movie ever!) in 3D. One of our local theaters was recently completely renovated and we enjoyed the movie in fully reclining leather armchairs. So comfy! One of my friends actually started to doze off. After a visit to Barnes and Noble for some play time and coffee, Alexis and I came home and made pizza for dinner.

It was a really great day, and I even got in my SP core workout. Tomorrow has a lot of potential, for both positives and negatives. I'll have lots of time to work out but also a huge opportunity to pig out. We'll see what happens.

Goals for tomorrow:
80+ oz water
AM workout: none
PM workout: SP toning video +30 minutes cardio
Make good food choices

WOW! You're sounding better and BETTER -- GO JULIE!!! I'm so happy to see you rebound, after the immense grief and pain, into newness of life!

I'm headed to the movies today too, but no cozy arm chairs in our lovely indie theater (I just glad we have such a resource here in Little Rock!).

Your gratitudin' buddy,
Maha

Sounding like the new, improved SPARKED Julie! :-)

Aren't those "fully reclining leather armchairs" awesome? I know its made big fans of us even though it's further than the other theater...lol.

Glad to hear it went so well! I still need to get my run in & am unfortunately really tired . . . taking vitamin c so I don't catch your cold over here! That movie theater sounds divine - wish we had one like that.

Remember how good those looser running clothes felt today to stay strong!

I have black bean and corn salsa made, and tabouli salad. YOU need to bring home the leftovers since I can't take that much on vacation. I may pack enough for the plane.

Not much to say

Friday, January 13, 2012

Still sick but feeling better. Worked a half day today then came home and watched movies. Stayed in my nutrition ranges today but only did 10 minutes of cardio plus my toning vid.

Busy day tomorrow, starting with a 10K run at 10 am (It should be about 15*F, yuk). My one big accomplishment today (so far, I'm not in bed yet!) was not having dessert after dinner. I'm having my tea with honey and trying to keep it at that. Should be good since I'm off to bed now...

Goals for tomorrow:
80+ oz water
AM workout: 10K run
PM workout: SP toning video
Track my food and make good choices
